Latest on Benzema transfer is great news for Arsenal

It still looks as though this deal will go right down to the wire and will be done in the last few days of the summer transfer window, if it is done. So be prepared for a whole lot more Arsenal transfer rumours about the Real Madrid and France international star Karim Benzema in the next few weeks.

We will all be thoroughly sick of hearing and reading about the striker by then perhaps, but if he ends up playing for the Gunners this season it will all have been worth it. And there are very good reason for Arsenal fans to be optimistic that this brilliant signing will happen.

As reported by Sky Sports the other day, Rafa Benitez tried to play down the speculation about Benzema and Gareth Bale and while his words about the Welshman were confident and unambiguous, the same was not true of the Frenchman.

He said, “Gareth is a huge player for us and I know that he’s happy.

“My answer is that I think Benzema is going to stay with us. I’m very happy with him. There’s no reason to think that he’s going to go.”

Think eh? And that fits with what La Liga expert Graham Hunter told Talksport yesterday. As well as declaring that the decision on the move was almost completely in Benzema´s hands, he claimed that Real Madrid were fairly keen to do the deal because they need the money.

So with Madrid final pre-season game just a few days before the end of the transfer window, Benitez needs to convince the player that he is a key and valued member of the Madrid team and that does not look like happening. So is Benzema bound for north London? We can only wait and hope…

  1. its a win-Win situation if the french Benz joins the Arsenal….

    .

    .

PLus….i would be waiting to see which Agent’s predictions got that right … L()L

    1. only hope Emanuele guilianelli passes his test and muzzi ozcan wears the grazing muzzle at the end of the day…..

  2. With the notion of Real Madrid on the pursuit of Galatico status again, as good as Karim is its common knowledge that for them he doesn’t fit the bill. Real also kiss Ronaldo’s arse and will do anything to keep him happy, there are rumours he wants to play as a CF this year and Bale has also stated his intentions to play as a Central Attacking role and with James Rodriguez, Isco, Kroos and Modric calling for more appearances, it seems to me the logical step would be sell Benzema move Ronaldo and Bale to their favoured positions the others get more playing time.. problem solved plus it gives them an opportunity to test the waters on Sergio Aguero, whom Benitez ‘greatly admires’

    1. I hear you man. But Theo Walcott wants to play up front. Does that mean should sell Giroud just so Theo can get a shot at ST? Just saying.

      1. We don’t really have to sell anybody dilla!………plus u are forgetting “form” and “injury” ere

    2. “there are rumours he wants to play as CF this year…”

There are no such rumours mate, unless you want to start the rumour yourself.

  3. we need to sell the first team cry babies now that their value is high and get people who can perform against all teams…ozil, giroud, wilshere would bring quite an amount to the club….i don’t think anyone would buy giroud so we can decide to keep him, loan him or release him as a free transfer…jack and ozil at 40m each would give the club 130m to spend on better players who wouldn’t get lost at the big games…these will be an awesome start

        1. I don’t know. Why should we keep fans like you who will never be satisfied with the club they supposedly support and who clearly know nothing about how a football team is managed?

          1. Ahh there it is, the classic “you’re not a fan” approach. Anyone who proceeds to judge someone else’s relevance as a fan is nothing short of an idiot. As if you’re way of thinking is superior to anyone else’s, get over yourself.

              1. I’ll be arrogant all day long in your eyes, because that opinion is only based on my utter conviction to what I say/think.

Difference is I don’t sit and tell others they’re not fans of the club because they hold a particular view, I’ll save that for Mohawk and the rest who genuinely believe they’re superior.

          1. hahaaaa….just because i have changed my opinions doesnt mean i am new….am like 5yrs old on these site bro the site admin can testify so shut up kid…ooh and if you didn’t know, you can freely change your name if you like

        2. You truly are plastic aren’t you? 40+40 =130? No steel or grit in you whatsoever! Stop embarrasing yourself…

    1. To sell ozil, giroud and wilshere?……. Prepare urself…… U are abt to get the slaughtering of ur life for making that statement on ere

    2. ‘i don’t think anyone would buy giroud so we can decide to keep him, loan him or release him as a free transfer’

wow… new heights have been reached!!
the guy who finished equal sixth in the PL goal-scoring last season despite spending 3 1/2 months on the sidelines… You honestly think no-one would take him off our hands??

      1. Not advocating we sell Giroud at all, he’s a quality option. But what’s the BEST you think he would do club-wise outside of Arsenal?

        1. The domino effect.
          If Lyon lose Lacazette
          and we got Benzema
          Lyon might buy Giroud.
Even a swap plus cash for
          Lacazette is possible.
Of course while the talk is of Benzema
Arsenal could really be aiming for others.

        2. I actually agree with you on Benz.
In terms of complete forwards I feel Suarez, Lewi and Benzema can do it all.

          1. I concur with those 3 being the best CF’s in world football. But seriously, if we put Giroud up for sale tomorrow who is the biggest/best team that would buy him as their starting ST?

I like what he offers but the calibre of team he would lead the line for is probably what? Roma? Which kind of puts into perspective the reason for us wanting a top ST.

Again, I can’t stress it enough….Giroud is a quality option and I wouldn’t sell him. But he’s not starting for the top 15 clubs in Europe, and we have designs on the Prem and want to be a dark horse for the CL; we need better.

  4. Benzema or bust for me. Perfect position and timing to get him and take over the EPL once and for all. Only question is does he want to come? Asked the same thing about Ozil and Wenger was able to pull some strings. But this transfer seems more difficult, as nothing is really forcing him to leave except Bale/Ronaldo wanting to playing up front.

  5. Benzema is a signing that must happen. Not only is he better than Giroud and Walcott, he has abilities of both players, versatility we will need up front to win the EPL. Signing him would also be great for morale boost for the players and club in general.

    1. Panic. Desperation. And a sheeplike following of anything the transfer rumor media whips up for consumption of the mentally weak.

      1. I think you need to look at the bigger picture and ask yourself the following. Will the signing of Benzema increase our chances of winning the EPL? Considering available options in the market, is Benzema a good buy considering his club and international experience, and the fact that he has been a regular starter and scorer for one of the elite clubs in the world for years?

The answer to both those questions is yes. Media speculation or not, Benzema would be a brilliant buy and agreeing with that does not make anyone ‘weak minded’ or a sheep.

        1. That’s right. Pull out some meaningless cliche – you need to “see the big picture”

          Help me. I’m blinded.

  6. Next: Any signing but flamini’s or Arteta’s for the DM back-up role…… We are good to kickoff at least!

  7. This Benz stuff again??*throws up*
am fed up.Giroud is much beta than de Benz.jx wait till he proves u wrong.
    #the_year_of_og12

    1. @spence………what a bad way to begin ur justarsenal carrear!………u joined today right?

  8. With all the attention paid to Benzema and the ridiculous transfer fees projected, you would think he is the best striker in the world. Unfortunately he actually scored 22 goals in 44 starts and 1 sub – those are Giroud-type numbers.

    1. You continue to derive an opinion of a ST purely on goals scored, completely disregarding circumstance, not to mention the dozen other qualities a top ST should possess…

Benzema IS one of the top 5 ST’s in world football, to label anything of his “Giroud-type” makes you sound like an absolute dim-wit.

….and you proceed to label me ‘clueless’. Oh dear…

      1. You continue to make claims about Benzema’s quality that you cannot back up with any evidence at all. Reality is a b#tch.

        1. *Benz is 1 goal shy of averaging 25 goals per season the last 5 seasons at Real Madrid.
*Benz has been Reals CF for 6 years
*Every pundit who follows la liga says Benz is among the best CF’s on the planet
*Benzema is 10th highest scorer in CL history with a better goals/game ratio than Raul/Henry/Ibra
*Wenger wants to buy him for 40+million

That would be the ‘reality’ making YOU look the b1tch…

          1. totally agree…

Big Ben is in the same league of the world class finisher that guarantee goals….Falcao, Torres, Salgado, Negrado, Jovetic…….

            at 45m hes already a bargain…..

young talents like Wilshere and Sterling already going for 40 and 49 respectively…

            Get Benz hes world classs

          2. Can’t agree more. The guy has played and scored at the highest level for years…and the only reason why they would let him leave is because they have players like Ronaldo and Bale (in the top 5 best players on the planet) wanting to take his spot as CF. Right now, looking at what is available on the market, Benzema is our best option. Do we want to win the EPL this season or not? With him, our chances to win it increase greatly. It’s a no brainer honestly.

  9. WE should have sign Mvilla….hes world class and could rotate with Coquelin

hes all time fan fav DM tooo

    1. M’villa…. World-class? seriously, level with us hafiz. how high are you right now scale of 1-10??

  10. I ask you, would any of you be disappointed if we got Benzema? It’s actually understandable why the transfer would stall a long time as Wenger will never overpay, and Madrid want to get as much as they can for him (De gea anyone.)

  11. One thing I’ve never quite understood about Wenger is his unwillingness to pay the slightest amount more than he believes a player is worth, now almost everyone would agree that Wenger has a phenomenal eye for talent but I’ve always felt he gets pushed out by a players price tag, maybe I’m unfairly blaming him and it’s the board but if he does decide Benzema is the man to bring in, why not pay an extra £5m or so to secure him? Let’s say we get him and he has 3 good seasons and we win the league twice, surely that outweighs the ‘extra’ he spent on a player? It also has the knock on effect of CL seeding and attracting higher profile players. Either way I hope if it is Benzema he doesn’t shy out because of the price tag and bring in some unknown for a fraction of the price. We have the money, the squad, CL, fan base etc, look what a difference Sanchez made by spending big money.

    1. That’s totally untrue, wenger spent more than he wanted to on ozil, alexis and cech. He also spent more than he wanted to on chambers, chamberlain and even welbeck.

Wenger values benzema at £30m my guess is he will go as high as £40m but no more. I am hoping that while the arsenal contingent are discussing benzema, they also talk about illarimendi, he would be the perfect compliment to our midfield. If we are really feeling the shopping buzz whilst in Madrid why not bring back cheryshev as well, then our window is done in one weekend and the team strengthened everywhere required

  12. Negrado, salgado????????? Speaking in tongues or does this remind me of player names in football on Sega video game?

  13. @davidnz. Thanks man! Here I was thinking it was all in my head! Am I losing it?! Is the transfer window driving me mental?! Am I the only one who thinks a big part of what we may do or who we may sign depends on the situation at Lyon with Lacazette? Will his imminent move away from Lyon start the domino effect we are waiting for? Or is he the real target of Arsene’s waiting game?
