Latest updates including Spurs and Man Utd looking to thwart Unai Emery

You have to admit that being an Arsenal fan is never dull, especially when there is no actual football and today is one of those days with a ton of rumours, gossip, opinions and speculation (are they not all the same thing really?)

I actually created a list of Arsenal news and once I looked over it I felt rather despondent but soon moved on to feeling positive and then simply head-shaking disbelief, such is a day in the life of a Gooner too eager to grasp the latest scrap being thrown my way.

So, here is a list of some of titbits doing the rounds today that have sent me into a mixture of despair, elation and downright confusion.

Though in all fairness it does not take too much to do that these days.

Spurs ready to make a move for Arsenal target Ryan Fraser

Always copying what we do that lot, oh wait.

Arsenal have put in a bid for Thomas Meunier but Man Utd are determined to thwart us

Is he? oh goody, see him at Man Utd then.

Pierre-Emerick Aubamyenag has taken his profile picture down on Instagram, what can that mean?

How the hell would I know, it could be anything and guessing will just lead to constipation, trust me, I am there.

Dortmund respond to Mario Gotze to Arsenal rumours with we have heard rumours from England for years

Yeah, try living over here and you will know what hearing rumours really is like.

Koscielny & Kolasinac could leave Arsenal

We can only hope

Unai Emery wants to sign Alberto Moreno

Bet the fans will love that one

Hazard tells Aubameyang “I gave my life, my legs, my butt, everything,”

And?

No buyout clause for arsenal target Dennis Praet

Now my heart is broken, what will we do?

Apparently, James Rodriguez will not be signing for Arsenal

Neither will Messi, Ronaldo or Neymar, I see a pattern here

Arsenal determined to sign Etienne defender William Saliba

That is the world class signing we all wanted I hear you shout.

There is so much more trust me but I just could not bring myself to punish you all any further, let me put it this way. If I went to a deserted Island for the next two months, get a tan, get drunk and probably get arrested, when I return I could probably write the very same article and still be relevant.

  1. I think the Instagram stuff by Auba, Mustafa, Xakha and Mkhi has to do with the new Adidas deal. you don’t expect Arsenal players to still have their profile pictures still having the puma Jersey. I hope am wrong tho, cause I for one really want to see the departure of the later three mentioned above especially.

  2. William Saliba is very young, very tall and managed to bring his club to the fourth position in Ligue 1. We must get him as soon as possible if his price is under 20 millions and his market value is merely 12 millions according to the Transfermarkt, although his contract will only end in 2023

Since Arsenal like bargain buys, they might as well seal Ryan Fraser deal, because his contract will expire next year. He could be another one season wonder like Lucas Perez, but we need a new British player and he also played as an RB for Scotland

    1. Saliba playing 15 games in Ligue 1 even though he only turned 18 a couple of months ago is huge. More so if you consider he plays for the 4th placed team in Ligue 1.

For less than 20 mill. would probably be a decent punt.

    2. Managed to bring his team to 4th in Lig 1. He must be a Superman of football player then if he played against other teams 11 players by himself and went through all season without injury. Please Kroenke we must get this kid even if we have to sell Emirate.

  3. Lots of Rumours on our targets , is it upto a 100 yet ?
Not one from Ornstein yet !………….I`d take notice if he rumoured one !

  4. Exactly @admin… It ain’t our first rodeo when it comes to summer transfer market rumours… Hundreds of them linking us to a gazillion players… we all know we will end up getting 2 players we weren’t expecting (cheap too),then 2 more on loan and probably one on bossman.. Typical…

On an unrelated note….Fun fact..just read that Arsenal spent £236million on transfers between 2008 and 2017.. Torreira, Gendouzi and Leno for a combined £52million.. so that’s £288million spent on transfers in the last decade.. @ an average of £28.8mil per summer window..Go figure.. (factoring in the January transfer window would just be depressing for me please)..

And we are expected to compete???

  5. As much as I hate Spuds, I am impressed by them

A big reason why Spurs went ahead of us (other than Wenger and having better owner) is that they were way better at spotting talent and if not keeping them then selling them for loads of money ie. Modric, Bale (Actually Modric for only £30 mil was a bargain but Bale was a HUGE £80 million)

When Van Dijk was at Celtic I remember begging Wenger to buy him (I had no idea Liverpool would buy him for £75 million) but Southampton bought him for only £13 million and made huge profit selling to Liverpool. We could have got him for even less because we were more attractive than Southampton. But I knew he was a good player and a LOT of people did actually except La Professor:
    Ozil £45 million
    Mustafi 35
    Xhaka 35
    Chambers 16
And even cheap ones were at the most average:
    Elneny
Mertsacker (but he worked with Koscielny who was close to World Class so pair worked)
    Jenkinson
    Debuchy
    Etc

My point is we need to hire better scouts and I hope Emery has better sense in finding better quality players at affordable prices. Whether we pay HIGH or low transfer fees, they should be enough quality. It is possible to get quality players cheap if you are Savy enough (last year on contract, player pushing himself out, unknown talents etc). Worse comes to worse we can sell for a profit
That’s how other teams do it ie Leicester a relatively poor club had Kante, Mahrez, Vardy at one point

    1. What you are describing is a key part of the art of good management(and I agree with all you say, apart from Mustafi who is a complete flop, even when with Kos) BUT we had Wenger, the worst judge of a quality CB in Prem history along with
Gazidis the lying, incompetent, contracts disaster negotiator. So THAT is why we are where we are.

      1. Of course I meant Merts who was also a flop, along with the dreadful Mustafi. MERTS has snails pace which is a huge disability whoever you play against in the Prem, irrespective of positional sense, which cannot fully compensate for extreme slowness.

          1. No. He was the last truly top quality CB that Wenger ever signed . THE ONLY ONE TOO. KOSCIELNY BEING, EVEN AT HIS BEST, NO BETTER THAN VERY GOOD, CERTAINLY NOT IN SOL’S CLASS. NOT REMOTELY.

    2. You are right about Van dyke.We missed out on him when he went to Soton from Celtic. It is a good thing for him because he won’t have be where he is today because instead of becoming a 70+m of a defender we would regress and probably be released buy us. The fact is our club has issues of developing players. Over the years, we have acquired a lot talented youngsters whom we developed badly. Whether people agree or not Walcott is one of them, Ox, Chambers, Holding Bellerin etc

  6. It was only the other day (Thursday, to be precise) I was moaning (just for a change!) about being glad the season was over, as it had been an awful end blah blah blah… I’d forgotten just how boring it is without Arsenal! Endless rumours, all the players we’re linked with, will end up elsewhere! Will we end up buying anyone? Will we sell anyone? Where’s Elneny’s hair gone?
Well, the fixtures come out next Thursday.. then we have the preseason to look forward to!
Thank God there’s darts on at the weekend!

        1. Blowgun Sue ?………………surely you mean blowpipe, which you can get on Amazon………….or was it the Amazonian rainforest ? 🙂

          1. Blowgun/blow pipe, same bloody thing ?? at least you know what I meant!! They’d probably get stuck in Stan’s wig anyway (I have a lousy aim) ??

    1. You could always watch Love Island tonight to cast your eye over some talent !

  7. I felt pain when the german eagle eye left. That was our best berth at unearthing germs. All his buys, Torreira, leno and guendouzi impressed this season.
