Leicester v Arsenal review – Transfer needs highlighted by draw

With no Olivier Giroud and just over a day of the transfer window left, Arsenal’s trip to Leicester was the last chance for Arsene Wenger to see whether Yaya Sanogo and the other striking options really could be enough for the Gunners. There was also the small matter of three Premier League points at stake.

Well Sanogo and Arsenal got off to a good enough start, with the Frenchman providing the assist for Alexis Sanchez to put us in front after a beautiful pass from Cazorla. Sanogo was looking dangerous, if a bit clumsy at times. He works hard and has plenty of ability, but he still looked badly in need of his first BPL goal.

But whether the head injury to Koscielny was to blame or not, we were pegged back almost straight away after a pinpoint cross found Ulloa. Chambers camo on for the French defender and that left us sweating on another defensive injury and the rest of the first half was tight.

After the break we got our fluent passing game going a lot better, but without a goal to show for it. In fact Leicester had two great chances on the break and Arsenal were lucky not to be behind. It did not help that Ramsey was having a shocker in the final third or that the ref let them foul contimually, but the lack of a real goal scorer was in evidence again and surely Wenger will do something about that tomorrow.

Manchester City – Aguero, Dzeko, Jovetic and Negredo. Perusing one of the best strikers on the planet.

Arsenal FC – Sanogo. We don’t need a striker.

Yeah, don’t. Only if we buy a striker that actually SCORES I’ll be happy. Right now I feel frustrated disappointed and kinda worried:/ not a promising start but a signing can make the difference… Knowing wenger I just ask for that bloody striker that’s all, if we could get to cover the other needs great but it’s wenger, get a striker ffs i can’t believe we are going to play sanogo for the rest of the year

        2. shekar233 says:

And if we could buy all three of them( richards can cover cb, nastasic CB and chambers as CD) it would be decent business to say the least.

  2. mike1977 says:

F*CKING FUMING right now. Gonna go to my AA meeting tomoz and stand up in front of everyone and say “Hi, I’m Mike, and I’m an Arsenal supporter.” I expect I’ll get a generous applause from most people who will take pity on me.

  3. Gigi2 says:

Everyone here knows i am preceived as a wenger defender and a giroid fan.
But even with all my pessisim i expected a win, narrow but a win.
Wenger gambled this game to prove a point and he lost two.
He loves the club but its time he puts that love first and his statements second: Giroud injured MEANS a news striker nededd.
And a goal equalising today means a DM needed

  4. mjGooner says:

OH NO!! The “ARSEN OUT” brigade are back guys!! lol

    1. Ks-Gunner says:

      Are you surprised?

    2. medvet says:

when the most experience manager of the premier, AKA the stubborn one, does the same sh+t every year (with resources), do not expect that the fans will be happy with that.

    3. Me says:

That was the most soulless, lazy performance from an Arsenal team in years..

I bet Sanchez wished he had signed for Liverpool – he has a much much better of winning the league there.

You really messed up there Alexis….

      1. RSH says:

did you forget about those handful of horrible matches last season? We have played much worse than that and we do it more and more frequently now.

      2. Robin Vanpayslip says:

How the **** was that the worst? We haven’t even begun being spanked yet…..

      3. jaggy says:

We’ve won 1, drawn 2 and people are writing off this season… This league changes every season and Wenger has to adapt to that change. We played Tony Pulis’ ghost, came from 2-0 down to draw and the new team looking to impress and not give away any goals. Unbeaten so far is good, can people understand that? Before anyone says, I do think we need some signings, a DM is top of the list for me. In terms of a striker, a loan perhaps, nothing ridiculous is needed, though of course I would love to see Cavani. Everyone has seemed to forget that Walcott is yet to return too, last season, before his injury, he was on fire. Theo was living up to his potential and now.

    4. Ljungberg's Cool Red Hair says:

People are tired of wenger stupid mistakes. Sometimes i even think that he does this on purpose. Btw you can’t Have a bad word on Wenger in Arseblog. They are such a bunch of ass lickers. When they will understand that it’s all about ARSENAL not WENGER?. Don’t know how some people values wenger more than the club. SHAME. BTW read some where that wenger doesent believe in modern football training methods. He has his own way of training. WTF???? NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY OUR PLAYERS ARE WEAK AS GLASS. Type on google: “Why arsenal players are alway’s injured”.

  5. Matt says:

Sanchez was the only one trying, no surprised the Ox got injured after a few minutes on the pitch, Christ our players are weaklings.

  6. ebemka says:

We Don’t Hav a Team Yet… FACT!!! Look at Liverpool , chelsea and Man City… U begin to wonder wats happening at the emirates

  7. Ronny331 says:

Utter rubbish, 24 attempts and 1 goal!
Thumb up 3 mid quality signings, (ST, CB and DM).
Thumbs down1 marquee signing only, (Reus/Cavanni).

    I want Reus and CB/DM!!

    1. Me says:

I would rather have a decent manager who puts the fortunes of the club and its fans before his own storied ego.

Arsenal are going to struggle this season without a doubt…

      Lazy and lacking imagination..

  8. Dreadedgunner says:

Was I the only one hoping for all those damn options we have to get sub in..idk wat the hell wenger was doing today you would think he was the manager in the stands. Poldi can go he had fresh legs when he came on and still had no hustle.looked not interested. ozil need to be ripped apart by every arsenal fan. His performance was unbelievable poor. We all n
Know he not the fastest but he was mirror image of BFG. pease DONT GET ME STARTED ON HIM SLOOOOOOOWWW…Leicester played ok but more there was more arsenal mistake than anything. if carvalho, a stricker and center back don’t come we’re be laughed at by spuds. Remy to Chelsea another arsenal fan gone blue. Hazard fab and now Remy wat a game this gonna be to watch . I just ranted to the max sorry but I’m just pissed to see arsenal have a so call war chest and look like league 1 team Sanchez goal was luck not quality. Should of lost maybe wenger we’ll realize sanogo is not the answer

    1. Dreadedgunner says:

I love wenger but mannnn you looked clueless out there

  9. SuperNas says:

“Well Sanogo and Arsenal got off to a good enough start, with the Frenchman providing the assist for Alexis Sanchez”
    “Sanogo was looking dangerous”

    Are you mad?!!
Firstly, Sanogo didn’t provide any assist. Sanchez happened to be in the right place the right time. Sanogo’s embarrassing kick made a ricochet at the GK and ended up completely by luck at sanchez.
Secondly, Sanogo was never a danger. The boy can’t do anything at all! He can’t pass, can’t shoot, has zero technical ability and bellow minus composure.
Does anyone of you think that Sanogo would even be on the 25 man squad for Chelsea, City, Liverpool, Utd, Everton or even Spuds? He wouldn’t be even on their f*cking reserves!
Also, Ozil on the f*cking flank again and Cazorla on the central mid. Wenger is losing the plot.
Wenger said that we don’t need Fabregas because we have Ozil, but if he continues playing Ozil on the flanks then why on earth we didn’t get Fabregas!!? One mistake after an other. You don’t need to be a genius to see that Ozil or Cazorla on the flanks are useless!
Prepare to be disappointed tomorrow lads.

    1. Invincibles49 says:

We were extremely lucky with the first goal. Or it would have been 1-0 against us.

    2. nickw says:

Mate you are so right it is unbelievable that Wenger is happy to play a championship player at CF and still say we don’t need a striker. In fact it’s an insult to the fans who pay so much to watch the team. He should be ashamed of himself but he has none. He is turning this club into an embarrassing joke.

  10. Invincibles49 says:

I really thought this would be our year. 100 mil to spend, whole transfer window to us and still we have to go till the last fu*king deadline day to even complete the squad. Dropped 4 points already. Have the goal difference of 1 only. And we have not even played the big guns yet. Way to go Wenger. *clapping loudly*

  11. G-Force says:

You know the manager is a clown when:

    1) He had over 17 attempts to win the Champions League and can’t even win it ONCE.
    2) He can’t even beat Mourinho once in 10 games.
    3) There is a player called Abou Diaby still at the club and on the books.
    4) He loaned an injured player to replace an injured player (Kim Kallstrom).
    5) He tries to indoctrinate fans by claiming that CL football will attract top, top top players. Look at Man Utd- No CL and still able to attract top players and spend significantly more money than Arsenal who are in the CL.
    6) ETC ETC ETC

    1. NY_Gunner says:

You knew you were a clown when you posted this bullsh*t…

      1. G-Force says:

You know you are DELUSIONAL and an Ar$ene apologist when you can’t accept facts. Which one of my statements is false by the way – please enlighten us all.

        1. Robin Vanpayslip says:

The problem with G-Force type fans is that they never used to complain about the CL when we were invincibles or before. Now all of a sudden qualifying is a bad thing?

Return to Adrian Durham’s jockstrap. Its where you belong.

          1. Ljungberg's Cool Red Hair says:

Thats not an answer Robin Van Payslip. What he posted is true.

If we dont get an animical boost from the deadline day ala ozil we will suffer. A lot. Even with our current players our squad is suposed to easily win against crap teams like leicester . Things like playing ozil in the wing making him useless and slowing down the global tempo is beyond me and it´s disapointing because he is getting critics for his poor perfomances, WHY WENGER KEEPS PLAYING PLAYERS OUT OF POSITION?

        2. NY_Gunner says:

          I didn’t call you a”liar”. I called you a”clown”. A”F**kn Clown” I might add…

  12. rkw says:

no other serious team has the likes of mert flamini monreal and sonogo in starting line up this early in season… in fact those player would be lucky to be in bottom 6 teams… wenger is not the manager to take arsenal beyond 4th place..he is too set in ways that no longer deliver to do that…the in wenger we trust fans on this site are spuds fans in denial or disguise…either way they need to be rooted out

    1. medvet says:

be fair man, monreal MOTM, like it or not

      1. rkw says:

will take you word only caught highlights as was on the road but he is not top flight for sure …. but without two quality defenders and an attacker in nexr 30 hrs its 4th place at best…groundhog day

        1. medvet says:

monreal is not the best LB of the premier, that’s for sure, but the man try hard and do his job the best he can… for me is the MOTM

          1. rkw says:

Not disagreeing… He might even make Garth crooks team of the week… He just won’t make us anything other than 4th place at best.. We have too many mediocre players starting for us right now…… Monreal is one…but At this moment it is wenger who should go because it is all down to him … But he still has 14 hrs to bring in at least 2 quality players and everybody and their dog knows the positions…. For me the nonesense the cheese eating surrender monkey has been talking about sonogo and podolski is enough to tell me the man is no longer a top flight manager but other fans should judge him on what he does in the hours remaining…even Carvalho and cerci combo would give me a glimmer anything less though and it’s the end of the road for me… Just too much disrespect for a once serious club that wanted to deliver for its supporters

  13. Arsenalover says:

    1. NY_Gunner says:

      F**K U and greedy azz’d Falcow…

  15. Big Gun says:

As much as I hate Jose, the guy does not f*ck around. First season he returns, he makes some good buys and gets Chelsea back into top four, almost winning the league. He started this season with a bang, signing SUPERB quality in Costa (who we could have had) and Fabregas. Now he has not let chance decide their fate, and bought Remy for the time being till Costa recovers. That is what you call competency and if they win the league it will be because of Joses actions over the course of the last 3 weeks. Arsene on the other hand has to wait till the f*cken plague hits us before deciding to buy players by which time it is too late. Games like tonight cost us the league and we should have buried those chumps. Yet we still have the same problems that have been eating away the past few years – LACK OF A CLINICAL CENTRE FORWARD. NO DECENT PROTECTION IN FRONT OF THE BACK FOUR. And for crying out loud Mertesacker is faaaaaar too slow to actually be useful anymore. He is caught out of position too many times.

Overall our whole team lacked urgency, and it seems when Rambo does not play well, our whole attack falls apart. What happened to the squad who pulverised Man City not so long ago? We are far too inconsistent to win the league, it has to be said.

    1. Invincibles49 says:

And look at the business he did. earned 50 mil for sh*t Luiz and bought Costa,Fillipe Luis and Remy with that money with only 10 mil loss max. And we call Wenger the genius. FFS!!

    2. nickw says:

People may hate Jose but he is a miles better manager than Wenger. He sees the problems and fixes them, no messing. Wenger just ignores or denies the problems exist and allows them to fester. How can you have any faith in a man who says we don’t need a striker, total and utter bs.

“but the lack of a real goal
scorer was in evidence again and surely
Wenger will do something about that
    LOL.. Sure he would

  17. Ronny331 says:

Ozil 1 assist in last 10 games.
Ozil 42m – Sturridge, Countiho and Sterling 35m!!

Not picking on Ozil as he’s a master but Wenger needs to get him firing, putting him the #10 pos’ would be a good start.

    2. RSH says:

if Ozil played for Liverpool he would do amazing. Wenger the problem. Just the truth.

    3. Ljungberg's Cool Red Hair says:

      Wenger sins:

      1. He doesent believe in modern football, playing with two wide players seems to be a bad thing for him.

      2. He tries to develop raw/underperfoming players on real time by making him STARTERS and he will do this until it works. No matter how much points Arsenal can drop in the process.

      3. He can´t decide between Ozil and Cazorla so then he play´s them both.

      4. He tends to make subs on the last minutes of the game.

      5. He doesen´t believe in modern football training methods, he already said that his players doesen´t do heavy exercises and prefers they to train with a ball instead of do some gym work as other clubs do.

      6. He is full of weird ideas like points 1 2 3 4 and 5.

      7. He tends to ignore problems

      8. He want´s Arsenal to play extremely beautiful football no matter the cost. Have to say that even barca football style has been teared apart by direct fotball. So his dreams about arsenal are impossible.

  18. Invincibles49 says:

    1. Chelsea

    4. Arsenal/Everton/Spurs/ManU.

  20. chizzytheace says:

To be honest, Arsenal where lucky to get a draw from this game. Really wish wenger would sign a striker and defender before midnight

  21. Invincibles49 says:

Playing Ozil out of position, having a striker like Sanogo upfront. If this does not kill Ozil’s confidence i don’t know what will ?

  22. Matt says:

We all said at the beginning of the window, a Striker, CDM, Left Winger and decent centre back and we have a good chance of winning the title. We have signed a Right winger, two right backs and a backup goalie, not good enough by a long shot! Wenger will need to sign two top class signings tomorrow to win me over.

  23. RWRW says:

    1. Matt says:

No, you can’t call for Wenger out when we haven’t lost a game yet, behave. We don’t even know for sure if Wenger is the villain in all this, Gazidis and the other officials of the club have a hand in transfer dealings too.

      1. Invincibles49 says:

If the board is the villain, other managers with an ambition would walk out of the door and not take the sh*t from those sitting in the power and in the process let us know what is wrong at the Emirates. But not Wenger.

    1. mike1977 says:

Chambers is the only one who is in form. I know he has made a couple of mistakes but he’s only 19 and still learning. The others … well, i honestly haven’t a clue. Sanchez is at least trying.

    2. RSH says:

Szczesny (only because he doesnt do anything wrong), Chambers and Alexis. Thats it. And if Alexis keeps getting surrounded by crappy performances, he will drop off as well I think. Cant believe we have 3 more years of Wenger while teams like Liverpool, Chelsea, City are going to be destroying the league. Its sad to watch Liverpool play infinitely more exciting football than us.

      1. WembleyMay71 says:

        @ RSH

Yet in response to an earlier comment on how good Chambers was performing in the game, you rushed to put Chambers’ performance down less than 2 hours ago …

        Shifting opinion already?

  29. Ronny331 says:

Wenger seems to have no bloody idea tactically and with team selection 🙁

    1. mike1977 says:

He isn’t French. And he also ripped teams apart at the World Cup. Isn’t this obvious? lol

    2. RSH says:

Joel Campbell doesnt get gametime because he is a better player than Sanogo… That has to be how Wenger’s mind works.

  30. dboy says:

Like De’javu. Every transfer window. Oh Please help us do some good business tommorow.

  31. mike1977 says:

If we had a team of Cavani Reus Sanchez Ozil Carvalho Ramsey etc we’d still look ordinary. Isn’t it up to the MANAGER to organize a team and tell them how to play? Instead, Wenger sits there waiting and waiting like a deformed spazmoid.

  32. Invincibles49 says:

Wenger to Sanogo : Keep shooting, does not matter if there is a defender or a GK in front, sooner or later a goal will come. LOL.

    1. Dreadedgunner says:

      Sounds right BOL

  33. Jimbeam says:

    Wenger’s mistakes

    1) Starting with Sanogo. If we were having issues towards the end of the game bring him in as a second striker to head down balls that is about the extent of his abilities for today.

    2) Starting with Falmini. Flamini was not bad today, we just needed somebody who could pass more effectively with 70% possession. Jack should have started with Ramsey.

    3) Playing Ozil out of position. Enough of this experiment, play him where he belongs or bench him.

    4) Not changing Koscielny immediately after his knock. His hesitation to head the ball caused the goal. Along with Per’s lack of speed. This goal is squarely on your shoulders Arsene. Shame on you.

    5) Very late subs. Typical Arsene, he will keep bearing a dead horse. Why not change tactics at half time. Take Sanogo out bring Poldi or Campell and at around 60-70rh minute according to how things are going bring in another sub.

    6) Not buying a striker the moment Giroud went down. We lost Balotelli and Remy since Giroud went down, don’t go telling me there are no strikers available.

    7) Not having the ability to change tactics during the game. Basically being a stubborn old fool.

    1. mohawk says:

You are spot on. Sadly, your list is not even complete – it gets worse. Wenger has collected a team of players without any real plan how they will work together tactically. He just puts some of his favorite players on the pitch together and hopes for magic. This cannot be resolved with just one transfer.

Ozil, Sanchez, Cazorla and Ramsey – these are quality players and under Wenger’s guidance they were all clueless on the pitch today.

  34. dilla says:

shocking performance today. no desire whatsoever. injuries left and right.

wenger will make at least one big signing guaranteed. post match interview with him says it all. we CANNOT go through the next couple months with only SANOGO up front. Otherwise we’ll get destroyed by top 4 clubs.

any of those strikers would change the whole squad around. time to stop beating around the bush. we’ve needed a top striker for years. now SIGN one!!

    1. Invincibles49 says:

What did he say in the post match that gave the hint ? Sorry i did not watch it as i did not want to listen to the fu*king excuses once again. Care to elaborate ?

  35. Invincibles49 says:

Brendon Rodgers really know how to get 100% out of a player. All his signings have gelled into Liverpool system so perfectly already.

We have Ox as an answer to Sterling but Wenger’s instruction manual says that he should be brought no after 75 min only.

  36. rock88 says:

    1. Mesut O-thrilled says:

@rock88 don’t use “gay” to disparage our players. We are well past those days.

      1. mike1977 says:

Perhaps he meant “Gay” in a happy way. All smiles after all.

      2. rock88 says:

I mean gay players Wenger’s favourite Arteta, Diaby, Sanogo and Giroud. The rest are men.

        1. Jimbeam says:

Dude, stop being disparaging to gay people. You seem pretty clueless so let me school you. A mans’ sexual preference has no bearing on thei mental and physical strength or thir talent and their heart.

  37. Matt says:

It’s just appalling how on our bench we had one defender and the rest attacking midfielders or wingers. Shows how much we need a centre back and a DM.

  38. marky958 says:

Laughing stock of London Town! at least Chelski and the Spuds have tried other managers and oh! Even 1 of them have won trophies on 9 years, enough said!

    1. Mesut O-thrilled says:

yeah you can say that, but then look at Manchester United’s coaching experiment. It’s a bittersweet kinda risk.

      1. RSH says:

David Moyes was never going to work out. United board fault for trying to keep the tradition of a British Manager. Hopefully our board not as stupid, but they probably are…

        1. WembleyMay71 says:

          @ RSH,

I agree with you, as I have had many times before.

At least other clubs have shown the courage and determination in changing their managers for the betterment of their respective clubs and their players. The same cannot be said about ours, though.

I’m not only concerned about players not being brought in, but also about the potential for our players leaving for their own good.

          1. RSH says:

            Well said

It’s embarrassing seeing the likes of Alexis, Rambo,Özil, Santi, look up and see Sanogo and not want to pass to him because they know, as do we all, that he isn’t cut out for it, yet. Of course I’m not blaming the young lad, but for my beloved Arsenal FC, it just is not good enough.

  42. Justsoccerfan says:

We lost two point, if there is no players coming in, everyday i will ask wenger to get the fu*k out all season long.

      1. marky958 says:

We’re fkd but hey ho! Wenger still picks £8 million pounds a year and he’s loving supporters will still kiss he’s ARSE!!

  46. Matt says:

Ozil must regret leaving Madrid, he used to be feeding balls through to Ronaldo, Benzema and Di Maria, he’s now just feeding either Sanogo or Giroud. Awful.

    1. Invincibles49 says:

At least Di Maria left Madrid after winning the CL. And here in United too he has Rooney and RVP to feed the ball too. Gotta feel sorry for Mesut 🙁

  47. RSH says:

And William Carvalho in starting lineup for Sporting he;s going nowhere and were signing NOBODY, expect Kalstrom 2.0 most likely.

    1. Darlingbudsofarse says:

@Rock88: These are classical symptoms of old age! Get him out now before he does more damage! I think he’s gone past his sell-by date by 8 years and we are still letting him sit on the shelf!

  49. Matt says:

As much as I hate Mourinho, I wish Wenger had his attitude.

  50. Invincibles49 says:

Wenger has made Arsenal his private property. Give me one club in the world where there is not respect for fans’ wishes and sayings.

    1. WembleyMay71 says:

Wenger doesn’t see us as fans.

Wenger sees us as paying customers, blindly loyal enough to keep coming back for the same bad service every season.

      1. WembleyMay71 says:

I say that because that’s the principle of the Kroenke School of Business and Wenger has subscribed to that principle.

The Scrooge of Ashburton Grove (SoAG) is slowing stealing our hopes.

  51. Ronny331 says:

I have a theory re’ Arsenals form.
All the players watch their competition teams strengthening whilst we appear to be doing nothing, (since Debuchy/Chambers).
This starts to play on the players minds and the fear factor sets in, hence the nerves.
We were similar towards the end of previous windows.
Wenger is the only one for some insane reason that thinks it’s a great idea to wait until the season has started, in fact the last day!!
All I can hope is that Wenger has deals wrapped up and he’s delaying them so not to allow other teams to react to our signings. Kagawa to BVB, Reus to Arsenal?
It could just be that Wenger has lost his marbles? 🙁

  52. Matt says:

Why the hell am I seeing people calling for Wenger out already?! Sit down and shut up you fickle imbeciles.

    1. medvet says:

GTFO, pathetic wenger lover….. this fiasco is wenger fault, like it or not…

    2. WembleyMay71 says:

For the love of Arsenal Football Club (not Arsenal Holdings PLC), Wenger (SoAG) should do the club a final service and just leave. Just leave, please!!!

  53. Ddog says:

tbh everyone has expressed all the nagging disappoints I and most other fans have felt watching that game. I know people will not like this but like ive said already arsenal arnt going to win the prem this season. we will get 3rd, just as our team suggests- with the 3rd best squad in the prem – its pure logic…… we need a CF

    1. RSH says:

City, Chelsea, Liverpool to finish above us basically automatically. So i imagine were back to our traditional 4th spot. Spuds to be our main competition once again…

      1. Ddog says:

no I disagree it has been a dismal game against leciester but be we still have an incredible squad. its just unfortunalty not as good as city or Chelsea’s. gerard henderson balotelli sterling and sturdidge don’t compare to ramsey wilshere sanchez ozil and cazorla in my opinion. we still have a better squad than liverpool, so I stand by 3rd place!

        1. RSH says:

yeah… honestly, they do compare though. maybe not man for man, but as a squad they work terrifically together, play with purpose. Liverpool so far are miles ahead of us. If we played them right now…. i dont even wanna think about tht.

          1. Ddog says:

honeslty I think that’s a knee jerk reaction after this one single game and im sure you would have said that before. the fact of the matter is this team is quite a bit different to last season, and the chemistry isn’t quite there yet but it will only get better.

    2. marky958 says:

3rd your taking the pee! No where in site mate!

  54. Darlingbudsofarse says:

Wenger is getting old and I think that is affecting his judgement. He will not win anything this season if he continues with his stubbornness. Please AFC Board : Let’s change managers now; WENGER OUT!!!!

  55. mjGooner says:

You cant blame Sanogo for this performance. Hes a 22 year old guy who played for the french 2nd league. He has potential, but for the next 2 or 3 years. The problem is we need it now.
He should of be on a season loan with another club, and not our main striker. The management should be blamed for his handling.
I wasnt too sure about getting a striker before the match but now i think all of our minds are made up (hopefully Wenger too)

Watching us play hasn’t been fun for a while. When we get to the final 3rd after all our passing, we get stuck and dont know what to do. Its as if we are surprised all our passing has got us so near to the oppositions box. We need more penetration.

After the international break we got Man city at home then Dortmund away!!
After that display, Wenger needs to charge up his mobile and brush up on his languages.
Hes got some phone calls to make ASAP…

    1. Invincibles49 says:

Who would want him on loan? He should go back to the academy or something.

  56. jithin says:

CL winner Ancelotti have Benzema, ronaldo,Bale and even Jesse…but still about to sign chicharito…
Here FA cup winner is so happy with Sa no goal..

  57. Justsoccerfan says:

I think if we dont buy any player, at least buy a tactician. Frankly wenger don’t know how to use the players on the bench.

  58. Invincibles49 says:

And please do not get your hopes high with”Kagawa in Reus out”. We are talking about Dortmund not Arsenal where we have the philosophy of “RVP out , Giroud in”. Its ludicrous to even think about it.

  59. rock88 says:

  60. Zulu-boy-SA says:

Ramsey is getting shittier by each game, and then Sanogo straight from an injury he comes back and plays ahead of Campbell, and Scezny will do atleast one unnecesary mistake in each game.

    1. Invincibles49 says:

Scez was the one who saved us from a humiliation today. Give the credit where it is due.

    2. Mesut O-thrilled says:

      what mistake did Woj do?

  61. Justsoccerfan says:

In wenger mind, he only got 11 players, maybe some time plus 2 when the match going to end.

  62. Justsoccerfan says:

What happen to Ramsey, are he going to be a one season wonder? God help arsenal.

    1. RSH says:

its the 4-1-4-1 formation. I blame Wengers tactics. Why is he switching formations and playing Ramsey high up the pitch and Ozil out of position. Foolishness.

    2. gamer says:

i have to admit ramsey was the most poor of them today his passes were sunday league some of them and he was very greedy when cazorla looped the ball all ramsey had to do is square it to sonogo for easy tap in but he tried to header it thats the most clear chance we had cost us really

      1. Mesut O-thrilled says:

Ramsey was not the poorest player on the pitch. And with a squad with over 20 shots on goal today, you cannot blame him for missing that chance. Him being greedy is why he scored so many goals last season.

        1. mohawk says:

Forget the “one chance.” Ramsey attempted passes today that were inexplicable – passing to no one. He was terrible.

But I think it is the situation that Wenger created that is confusing Ramsey also.

Looked like some friends getting together on the weekend to kick the ball around – no plan – no tactics – no reason for player selections – nothing.

      2. RSH says:

would you trust Sanogo with scoring though?

      3. RSH says:

and he was the only player looking to score. Ozil i cant remember shooting, and Santi only really had one effort. He was not as bad as you are making him out to be, you just expect him to be amazing every match, but when the team as a whole plays like crap, what do you expect?

        1. gamer says:

im not slating him man i know you cant expect him to perform every game im just saying for this game he was not at his best and the most clear chnace we had he was greedy on it when a simple square pass would of probably got a goal for us . but end of the day the blame is wenger for his decisions he makes and i hate this new rubbish 4141 with players playing out of position

    3. Invincibles49 says:

He is not one season wonder. The reasons for his displaye :
      1. The tactics and the lack of defensive steel in the back is hurting him. I could see today too he was in two minds on so many occasions weather to move forward and go into the box or stay back and provide some defensive cover to our CDM Mr. Flamini.
      2. Last season he had a wonderful chemistry with Ozil and Ozil has a big hand in his success. This season Ozil is playing out of position and the player who is playing in his place Cazorla goes down on the pitch even under the pressure of breathing of defenders.
      3. Also Giroud’s hold up play helped him to some extent which allowed him to run into the box and gave him time to position himself perfectly.

I know he made some terrible passes too but when your core strength is not working out, it affect the other part of your games too. All is lacking for him at the moment. I blame Wenger. He will destroy both Ozil and Ramsey if he has his way.

  63. ger burke says:

wenger just has to leave us !! . he is now well past his sell by date , he does not have a clue in any aspect of the modern game . i just want him to leave before he turns our wonderful club into a laughing stock . where is the free flowing bubbly energetic forward playing game gone . i have seen some bad games in my day but todays encounter has to rank up there with the very worst . no invention , no passion , no leadership , no clue . we are being embarassed every time we step over the white line as a club.regardless of what players the miser may bring in here in the next 24 hours or so i believe his time is up and he should go before it is too late to do anything about it . oh dear , oh dear , oh dear , where is our beautiful game gone .

  64. Justsoccerfan says:

Let hope we are not going to go thru the whole season, fu*king wenger and the players. I really don’t want, i love arsenal so please don’t make me do it.

    1. WembleyMay71 says:

    1. marky958 says:

  66. Invincibles49 says:

Why are we so helpless? Wenger signs a new contract whenever he wants too and there is nothing us fans can do about it ?

  67. O2-Home kit says:

    1. Justsoccerfan says:

    2. NY_Gunner says:

      @02-Home kit
He made a valid point, but most here are too butt hurt by the loss to get it…lmfao

      1. RSH says:

only team that has gone a season without a defeat is us obviously. They are bound to come eventually even if you have strikers like City, even if you have Messi, even if you have Ronaldo. The fact that Wenger and you are trying to justify us not buying a striker because City lost won match is ridiculous. Are you really okay with Sanogo being our starting striker until December. And even when Giroud returns, hes not even good enough to win us the EPL. Midtable teams have better strikers than us, do you realize this?

        1. NY_Gunner says:

He also made the point that 1 player is not going to be a savior of the “team”. But you didn’t catch that part of his point. And I’m not trying to justify anything. I was only agreeing with the point he made.
I’ll put it this way. If AW is fine with Sanogo and the strike force we have, so am I.
I do have a problem with our team “spirit” though. Because as ordinary as you and others might have thought Leicester were, they still “fought” as a team for taht 1 point.
You and a few others should not let your hatred of AW blind you to logic and reason.

  68. Ronny331 says:

  71. lucia says:

Observations: starting frm Gk lack of concentration will cost szceszney his place if he is not careful. Debuchy. Was at fault for the goal, poor positioning but did ok today. Per was below average don’t knw if it is lack of match fitness. Koscielny was ok and u could argue abt the goal being his fault but don’t take away anytn frm the cross.chambers couple mistakes but did ok. Monreal I thought was the only player with passion today. For me motm. Defended well attacked well and that pass to sanogo. Now to the midfield : flamini did k distributed the ball but less effective. Like koscielny u could aswell argue about his positioning before the goal had he closed down shlupp he maybe would have blocked the cross. Carzola played well and If I was wenger I would hv brought out ozil instead of carzola.few mis placed passes but he was creating chances and riggled out well. Unlike ozil and ramsey I don’t knw what they did in this match that made them finish this match. average at best. Ozil needs to get his act well wat has happened to ozil of madrid? Sanchez I think fared well considering he ran his socks off on wednesday night but if am honest I think there were moments in this game where simple pass frm him would do.I think he is trying to much to prove a point.but I like his hunger and fight. I hate it when campbell is on the bench and wenger opted for sanogo who just came back from injury. At this point if I am campbell I would be looking elsewhere because wenger hasn’t even given him a chance why sanogo can just walk in the starting 11. And for podolski well we have our opinion but if am been honest I say sell podolski 1 no fight, no hunger he can’t even chase the damn ball. Cf my a*s he is no cf. And y the hell do we have so much injury prone players. This break couldn’t have come at a better time. What a frustrating afternoon to think I left my boys bday party to watch this game am so angry. And as for wenger. I tell you one thing u can have a huge squad or debt but once u dnt knw hw to use dem well I dnt knw. A wise manager would have made changes but only wenger will live it till dying mins. Well tnk God we didn’t loose this game cos mentally it will do more harm than good.

  73. mohawk says:

Wenger has collected some players he likes with absolutely no plan how they will work together on the pitch – just a chaotic collection of the very talented and the very lost.

    1. leo says:

yeah but acc to u just few hrs back u told me to leave it to the expert what made u change ur mind

      1. mohawk says:

I know it is getting to you that I will not pretend your childish repetition of nonsense transfer rumors is something special. But it is not. Accept it. You don’t have inside info. Stop pretending you do. You “repeat” nonsense and then want people to accept it as genius.

Time to give it a rest after all these years in your little fantasy world.

        1. leo says:

where did u get ur coching badge from fifa mgr mode & I never said I have inside knowledge everyone here knows that

    2. No Giroud, I'm happy says:

Now I think we are in the same sheet, and please take off this optimistic skin out and live the reality

  74. lil mozart says:

Am just confused, and don’t really know where to start, but firstly Arsene has got his midfield selection, pairing and substitution so bad today. Where on football laws/rules must substitution start by 75 mins of play. Arsene has done this same thing for more than a decade and its proving not to be tactics anymore but lack of new ideas – common Wenger they are different strokes for different folks. I hope am not the only who thinks that Ozil needs to return to the bench for the exiciting Rosicky to play alongside Cazorla and resurrect our sexy football, because am not feeling it.
Ozil’s work rate is very very very poor and he doesn’t care, because arsene plays price tag. Am so angry that I don’t care who he signs or doesn’t sign, all I want is for the reason I am an Arsenal fan to be back- fluid, sexy, creative football. I rest my case. Sorry guys for the digression I just had to take this load off my chest.

  75. Andrew AFC says:

Sell Cazorla, Podolski and Arteta and replace them with Cavani, Reus and Carvalho.

    1. No Giroud, I'm happy says:

It’s over my friend, it’s over. You can do all that in 27 hrs

      1. WembleyMay71 says:

1 day, 2 hours and 46 mins to go.

        Time waits for no man.

    2. mohawk says:

You are right that players will need to leave as well as arrive. I don’t even care who leaves now. Just clear the roles and acquire players with an actual tactical plan in mind. Wenger just has a collection of favorite players.

  76. Darlingbudsofarse says:

Wenger is getting old and I think that is affecting his judgement. He will not win anything this season if he continues with his stubbornness. Please AFC Board : Let’s change managers now; WENGER OUT!!!!

Also, it’s not about buying players but what he does with them or where he deploys them! He’s lost the plot mates!!

  77. oxygee says:

Arsene Wenger is no longer a tactical manager. He is gradually deatroying all the good work he did at arsenal. Top managers vary their formations and tactics based on the opponent they play against but Wenger? Your answer is as good as mine. Same players, same formation wether we play Chelsea or Burnley. It a pity. A team without an proven defensive midfielder? Don’t know how we will fare against the big boys.

  78. Mick The Gooner says:

I don’t understand Wenger’s belief in Sanogo at all.. If you look at his goal scoring record for Auxerre it’s not ‘frightening’ as Wenger says, it’s around 1 in two games, pretty much what we’d expect a half decent striker to score in the premier league, let alone the French second division.

I don’t want to sound harsh on the guy, but if he can’t score even one goal after 16 games infront of our midfield with the likes of Cazorla and Özil, I don’t have much hope in the guy.

  79. Justsoccerfan says:

Now even we buy great players, i don’t know wenger know how to use them or not. So piss off, have to wait for two weeks to see our gunner play again so i will piss off for two weeks before they make me happy again.

    1. mohawk says:

Can you imagine? Wenger has some quality players – Ozil, Cazorla, Ramsey and Sanchez and they are out there completely lost – no idea what their roles are or what the tactical plan is. This is Wenger’s fantasy and our nightmare.

      1. leo says:

wowwwwwww ur talking tactics & in the morning when I crticised wenger u asked me if I have mgrl exp & leave the job 2 the expert & now look at u unbelivable

        1. mohawk says:

I criticized YOU and your complete lack of knowledge about football. I made no comment on your criticism of Wenger. YOU CAN’T EVEN READ.

          1. leo says:

& u have good knowledge yeah can see that

    2. gamer says:

i think we alll need a 2 week break to get ready for the humiliation awaiting us big games coming starting off with a 12:45 kick against man city we have absoloute no defence arteta and flamini rubbish and merterscker looks like he has lost any bit of pace he had its like the guys feet are sunk into the pitch i am really genuinly worried about mertersacker i think its time to drop him and play kosch with chambers

  80. gamer says:

the only time we have played with 2 wingers and a dircect cf this season was against benifica . songo looked like a different player and camball and ox was on fire on the wings why has wenger not tried that again he seriously baffles me.

once theo is back and playing if wenger does not play with theo and alexis on the wings than then wenger has seriously lost it

    1. mohawk says:

The last time Wenger used anything even close to full wing play was 2 seasons ago when Walcott played on the right and Poldi was on the left. The result: Walcott and Poldi were both scoring goals and Poldi was leading the league in assists.

Wenger’s response was to bench Poldi, pretend to use Cazorla on the wing and never allow left winger play again. He hates wide play, for whatever stupid reason.

    2. RSH says:

he is obsessed with trying to replicate Barcelona, even though Barca play with two wingers now as well. Wenger just outdated and clueless. So tired of seeing 3-4 playmakers in the lineup who just pass to eachother with no end product.

      1. WembleyMay71 says:

We did play a passing game today, didn’t we?

Pass, pass, pass, pass, pass ….. and in doing so, our players used up so much energy, even Alexis looked spent at the end.

        Oh boy,

  81. Andrew AFC says:

The gravy train stops now, if you don’t give AFC 100% f-ck off!!!!!!!!! and that includes the board the players and Wenger.

    1. Andrew AFC says:

PS one f-cking boot coming out in the dressing roam as well.

  82. leo says:

new season same problem wenger should go & get Jackson martinez & bony for combined 40m & send sanogo out on loan they will score goals 4 sure we needed 1 stirker from beginning & with giroud’s injury & ( inexperienced sanogo) we need 2 they both have buyout clause shouldn’t be that difficult

    1. Budd says:

Yes, this is exactly what martinez, bony and half of la liga will do : sign for wenger. Luckily breathing does not hurt otherwise you’d be in pains by now.

  83. leo says:

Wenger on rumours of a bid for Bacca: “I give you my phone, you’ll see we are offered many players in next 24 hours.”

    1. juhislihis says:

      Carlos f’n Bacca seriously..

And self-proclaimed Arsenal fan Jackson Martinez scored a brace for Porto today. Naaah forget him and stick with Sanogoals..

    2. BigWilli says:

he said the same shit in january.
      who did we buy?
ffs bring some one in who can handle our transfers!

  84. oxygee says:

Can someone tell me why Cambell don’t get the chance? It baffling indeed. Is. Wenger saying Sanogo is better than Cambell. Is it because he is not French? Which top manager will drop a proving goal scorer like Podoski for Yaya? This French conspiracy should stop.Don’t know what will happen tomorrow.

  85. No Giroud, I'm happy says:

I just don’t understand why you all are after the kid Sanogo as if Giroud or Podloski could make the difference. This is our problem since rvp left and Sanogo just cannot do anything about it

  86. Andrew AFC says:

If you want a striker just to score tap in’s Sanogo is your man, if you want anything else play Campbell instead.

  87. Justsoccerfan says:

Today we are the team look like just promoted to premiere league.

  88. leo says:

this is the era of modern young mngrs (no clubs 4 old men) klopp/simmoen showing us how it’s done they have spent less but have built amazing squad

the transfer window opened on july 1st & they brought their players back then mandzukic for 17m ciro immobile & adrid ramos that’s the way 2 do it wenger left it late & it won’t be easy hopefully he can bring someone in

    1. Budd says:

Simeone almost fu cked it against Eibar but I assume you have not seen the game. Atletico was simply $hit last night and they barely scraped a 2-1. You so full of $hit I can’t understand how people read it from you twice after they read it from Mirror or Metro. But then again, you don’t have to be genius to say whatever you want after the game. Many brave men show after the war, you are one of them. You keep bashing the team for so long that it’s pretty hard not to be right at least once. You simply suck balls.

      1. Jimbeam says:

        He is bashing Wenger, rightfully.

  89. rock88 says:

    1. No Giroud, I'm happy says:

  90. Justsoccerfan says:

From the start of the season, i already wonder why campbell is not playing at all. He must be have done some thing to piss off wenger. We can keep on saying wenger find gem but he did destroy players too.

  91. Andrew AFC says:

Wenger please stop playing players out of position. Ozil came alive in the world when he played in the middle.

    1. captinweestain says:

      1. Andrew AFC says:

And that includes Carzorla, Podolski and Wilshere they are not left wingers 🙂

  92. leo says:

Wenger apparently said: “We got the messages today. We didn’t win and we need more strikers.” to bbc5live just now

    1. BigWilli says:

      what a genius!
fans been screaming for a striker for 2 years now!

    2. Budd says:

You can’t say a proper lie, you idiot. He said : there was something missing there. We had two busy weeks with 3 games away.

  93. Mehrzad says:

we definitely need a striker and a defensive player
but even is AW is so damn stubborn doesnt want to sign anyone can we play PLEASE loan out sanogo or sell him. he is by far the worst striker we have had in that past xxxxx year
Chmakh Bentner Vela Arshavin all was better
i really feel sick seeing him we can go to second division and find a better striker

  94. captinweestain says:

“We only sing when were winning” just sayin’
Still very angry, but i’m trying to keep faith. Too support a club through thick and thin!

  95. captinweestain says:

    Everyone loves a scapegoat.

    1. WembleyMay71 says:

Except, Wenger (SoAG) is not a scapegoat.

Wenger (SoAG) is the controlling entity in Arsenal. He has the final responsibility of what happens on and out of the pitch.

      1. NY_Gunner says:

He will leave, in about 3 years time…lmfao

  96. leo says:

£42.5m on Özil and plays him on the wing, let’s spend £55m on Falcao/cavani and play him holding midfielder

Bcos of the invincible, we are brain wash by wenger so most of us will still stand by him even we lost our trophy (4th).

  98. sam-afc says:

Koscielny one week. Unfortunate head injury. (fair enough)
    Chamberlain calf.
    Özil ankle.

What is wrong with our team? 3 games into the pl and the injuries are just piling up.

Using a 21 year old striker as the main target man. No real back up…… Same old same old I guess uhhhhhhhh it hurts being a gooners…….

    1. Justsoccerfan says:

Wtf with ox, he look so well build but why he so freg. Seem like arsenal like to buy injury prom players.

    2. RSH says:

if Kos is out a week thats good, cannot be called up to France squad.

  99. Cartman says:

We desperately need a top striker or winger AND CDM by tomorrow evening.

    Falcao, Cavani, Reus, Huntelaar, Nani

Carvalho, Khedira, Bender, Schneiderlin or Gustavo

  100. captinweestain says:

I’m leaving this site for today, it’s too depressing.

    1. Justsoccerfan says:

Doesn’t mean leaving this site, our gunner will become the invincible again. You will still feel being su*k.

    2. NY_Gunner says:

I hear ya. Readin the “b*tchings” of grown ass’d men is too pathetic…
