Let’s be positive that Arsenal can beat Manchester City tomorrow

Bring it on, Manchester City! by Lagos Gooner

Hello everybody, it is another weekend; a weekend of football, a weekend of passion and a weekend of exciting goals. I am still basking in the euphoria of our come back against West Ham firstly, and then against Standard Liege, on Thursday night.

Well, in as much as I wish to remain in this paradise of celebration, I still have to remind myself that we have another big game coming up on Sunday; we play Manchester City in a must-win game. Manchester City being the defending champions of the English premiership is a team that Arsenal won’t fancy playing, especially at this fragile stage of the season. But being a big club means we have to be ready to face any team, no matter their pedigree. Arsenal is a big club and I am 90% certain that we will get a positive result against Man City on Saturday.

There is something I have being noticing in our boys; they had always tried coming back in the games we lost in the past but it was just not working for them. However, it seems we have found a way of crawling our way back into relevance, whenever we have been down. We did it against West Ham, we did it against Standard Liege and if the need arises, I believe we will do it against Manchester City.

However, I strongly believe Arsenal will announce to the whole football world on Sunday that they are now back to playing for results, pride, and for the fans who have stood by them when everything looked gloomy. The players, I believe, will draw inspirations from our last two games and they will come out to teach the Citizens a great lesson. Our Christmas celebrations may well start this Sunday.

With Auba, Pepe and Martinelli playing a front three attack against the citizens, goals will surely be scored. The problem however, may be our woeful defensive problems; a problem I feel will be resolved soon.

Okay family, I predict us winning the game 2-1, what do you predict?

  1. I actually don’t care about the result as much as I do about the way we play. We have played well under Freddie for 20 minutes here and 10 minutes there.

If we manage to extend the 20 minutes into one half of playing the way we can or did in those brief spells, I will be very happy.

  2. OT.. OMG var disallowed a Liverpool goal??? 😱 Jurgen won’t be happy with that.
And how many chances do Watford need?? They should have equalised by now 🤬 if it had been against us, it would’ve gone in!!

    1. I won’t allow myself to be deceived by that sham display of not favouring Liverpool by PGMO. They knew Liverpool was leading already, so they pounced on that incident as a perfect opportunity to show everyone that contrary to belief, that they were not giving a hand to Liverpool.

If Liverpool was losing at that moment, the decision would have been different. Perhaps they wouldn’t have even given VAR the chance to decide.

On the other hand Watford could have won that march easily or at least drew if they weren’t stupid with their chances.

Sue, I wonder what you’re going to do if Arsenal eventually wins the Mancs by 2 goals to nil.

      1. I have to agree with you, Gily! They haven’t got a screen there either, so not like you can see the replay. Now Leicester have let me down – gutted!
At least Bournemouth won though 👍

2-0 hey?! I will be ecstatic if that happens, Gily!!! 😁

  3. I find myself quite happy with arsenal at the moment. I feel we should all right this season off and just hope one or two things go our way. If by the end of the season we have Pepe and Tierney playing at the level they can and the kids are still performing well we can start a proper rebuild. Let’s get behind the boys and just enjoy the season and hopefully Poch comes in the summer.

    1. Not a bad view Liam. Trade Xhaka for a more complete DM, return Ceballos and find a better creative midfielder in the mold of Santi and purchase another CD and we are off to the races if Poch signs on.

If Poch indicates he has no desire to sign on with us, bring Arteta in now and give him the rest of the season to start implementing his football philosophy so we can start next season without a complete reboot.

Only other alternative for me would be convince Koeman not to go to Barca but join us after the EC this summer.

  4. How about Jack Grealish? He has a little Santi in him with the way he drives the team forward. We need that bit of Santi/Ramsey in our midfield.

Sell Xhaka and Torreira and try Partney and Grealish in the midfield.

I would let Ceballos return to Madrid and put in a cheeky bid for Grealish if Villa get relegated.

Also need a RB to compete with Bellerin.

    1. Would love Grealish but I think AV,
even if relegated will try and hold
out for bids that far surpass AFC
      spending interest.

      My wish list for January.

      Poch or Arteta

      Sell:
      Xhaka
      Torreria
      Mustafi
      El Neny

Hopefully the lot will bring in
      around £85M in transfer fees.

      Buy
      Demiral/Upamecano
      Sangare
      H Aouar

      Anywhere from £100-£125M needed.

January squad to win the Europa
      League

      Auba
      Martinelli..Ozil..Pepe
      Sangare..Aouar
      Kola..Upamecano..CC..HB
      Leno.

With a few more calculated moves in
the summer this Arsenal first 11
would be serious players for the EPL
      and CL crown next season

      Auba
      Mart..Aouar..Pepe
      Sangare..Partey
      Tierney..Upamecano..Saliba..Atal
      Leno

Slow Saturday morning, so feel free
      to shred away. 😂😁

  5. Truth and Durand you both make excellent points.Pratley and Grealish would be massive upgrades on what we have currently. If we are buying a right back we need to aim way higher than Bellerins level but we have bigger priorities at the moment. I would be tempted to sell one of the strikers and buy a world class left winger and have Martinilli be second choice cf. If Pepe can carry on improving then the forward line is sorted. I’m sure Rb would be tempted into a deal involving maybe Mustafi or Xhaka and cash in return for upamecano. With Saliba coming in and holding and chambers in reserve we have a good young athletic back line.

  6. Pochettino needs to add trophies to his CV. He won’t be challenging for any titles with us for at least 5 years, so we would be a poor choice for him other than banking lots of money. It’s difficult to see anything other than a comfortable win for City tomorrow. There is always a chance of an upset of course, but I can’t see it happening. Our midfield is far too weak and our defence too error prone.

  7. I expect to get stuffed!……………(when I say that I dont mean personally, like my wife aint going to mix a massive bowl of Paxo and shove it up my Arse!…….no, she is evil, she`d rather use barbed wire!)………… but so did Newcastle and Norwich, so you never know !
