Liverpool favourites to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain?

There has been little said about Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain not signing a new Arsenal contract this season as the media have been concentrating on the situations with Ozil, Alexis and of course Arsene Wenger. But considering the massive improvement that the young Englishman has shown this year and his tender years, you can say he is even more important to the future of Arsenal Football club than the ageing Sanchez and Ozil.

But the signs are not looking good as he could easily force a move this summer just like the others, and the latest Arsenal rumours are suggesting that Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp is keen to take the Ox to Liverpool for a price of around £35million Pounds.

The fact is that, despite his obvious improvement, he still cannot command a regular starting spot at the Emirates, with Wenger insisting that his best position is in the Santi Cazorla role, but not believing the 24 year-old is ready to make it his own. Wenger hinted that there were problems with a new contract this week when he said: “I personally think it is vital that Chamberlain stays at Arsenal,”

“We bought him when he was very young, we have built him up and I think he has a great mentality and a good football brain. It would be a big damage for us to lose this kind of player.”

But the fact is that if Wenger really wanted to keep Alex, then he would have started him more often, and at his age he would want to be an integral part of the first team starting XI. Only starting 12 games this season is hardly going to convince Alex that he is going to be promoted any time soon.

This is one rumour that wouldn’t surprise me if it turned out to be true. Do you think Alex would be better off at Arsenal or Liverpool?

  1. £35 millions for OX?! He’s got a place in the team but take that money and run!! If the homegrown quota is of concern, we could look at these players to fill in:
    – Chilwell
    – Barkley
    – Butland
    – Zaha

    Besides I would keep Walcott, Gibbs, Holding, Chambers, Iwobi, Bellerin and even Wilshere. And offer them new contracts WITHOUT PAY RAISE. They are decent squad players and Bellerin is a starter (he just needs to up his form, he was in the PFA Team of the Year last season).

    1. I agree with your list (except Walcott) of players to keep, especially chambers as he needs to be given a chance at CB.

      Is Zaha better than OX? Or does he seem better because he’s been given EPL minutes to prove himself.

      I’d like to see Wilshere and Gibbs given a real opportunity as well; injuries and poor training methods permitting.

      Barkley could be a good buy, but we wont be able to replace Sanchez unless we got Aguero, Greizemen etc which won’t happen….

      1. Zaha would be us again signing players that just don’t have what it takes. He’s quick he’s flashy but he’s not anything like what we need. We need to sign men, and when going for the younger players, they should look like young men, not little boys. Holding looks like a young man, Bielik definitely looks like a young man. Walcott Oxlade and Ramsey still look like boys.

        I’ll be honest here, the only fear I have with Oxlade is if one of the other clubs turn him into a bit of a Dele Alli. As far as him being crucial to AFC I have never believed it for one moment. It’s probably not fair us holding him back for selfish reasons even though he looks like his career could peter out in front of our eyes. If we do keep hold of him and next season is more of the same, well then I think we should have a mutual agreement in place that we’ll let him go to Liverpool the season following. If they do a better job with him well then I’d be happy for Ox.

  2. It seems as if the Ox has already made his mind up to jump ship at the end of the season And I can understand why Wenger is publicly kissing his ass in vain hope that he stays.
    It’s amazing to think that the Ox is still only 23, it seems as if he’s been around for as long as Wenger has lol ?
    It’s a shame that this player has mental issues and maybe Wenger is the cause of this, it’s as if the player is easily disheartened and loses belief in his own ability, which effects his concentration during games. The goals he scored in preseason and the one against Liverpool in our home defeat on the opening day of the season, just goes to show what the Ox is capable of doing, when his up for it.
    I hate to say this but Klopp would certainly bring out the beast in the Ox.

    1. it’s true, I like also his take ons, facing opponents and going direct at them, beating them with simple flick and pace. he even improved with the help of Sanchez.. better sell Ramsey than this lad, but as AKBs say, Wenger knows best

      1. I’m ok with the Ox leaving. Too injury prone and his good games are less than his bad games. JMHO

        We need a Santi replacement and he is not it it. Some one like Silva would be better.

        We also need to dump the f’ing 4-2-3-1

        It is killing us!

        I’d love to see us sign Virgil van Dijk and play a 3-5-2

        Again, just my opinion

  3. Without the English quota value
    this is who these players really are.
    Wellbeck = Sanogo
    Ox =Joel Campbell .
    Ramsey = Denilson
    Wilshere = Amauri Bischoff.
    Jenkinson = Pascal Cygan
    Gibbs = Andre Santos
    Chambers = Johan Djourou.

  4. Right now, i do not care who Leaves and who stays (among the players)
    .
    The club is completely useless under this management!
    .
    Until Mr. Potato Head & his spiritless Bosses Leaves, any player is free to Leave……

    .

  5. Tbh, players value should not concern fans. Say we get 35m for the ox, that is not a good deal for ME because I actually like the ox. I don’t get 35m in MY pocket, so I’m not interested even if he’s worth 5 quid or 100m. He’s young, his central displays have been excellent and I think most fans like him.

  6. I read that Wenger will only be given 100mil to rebuild but if he wants more then he will have to sell players, £35 mil is a respectable amount and we have plenty of HG talent waiting to come through, might be worth selling him if we could get in a better player while promoting a youth.

    I would like to keep the Ox but if not then that £35mil could get us a more complete player NOW while still having a young prospect like Crowley for HG quota.

    Now we could have for example… Telisso from Lyon who has been performing regularly for a couple seasons or Gueye with EPL experience and been doing very well.

    Either way, it could work out well for Arsenal if we make the most out of it.

    1. I read it’s going to be 200m, so we are told. He’ll probably spend about 6m on an unknown kid though.

    2. Shame on you still talking about life under wenger . this is the year everything will come out in the open. Just wait our fixtures and you will see

  7. If I have my way, I ll sell all d players n buy new players. No one Impress me among dem anymore. Some mid teams in EPL has better players dan us
