Liverpool v Arsenal early betting preview – there is value to be had

Huge game for Arsenal on Saturday and certainly the biggest test so far this season when they travel to Anfield to take on European Champions Liverpool. Obviously, the Reds are clear favourites, they have home advantage, have got off to a brilliant start and their recent record over the Gunners at Anfield has been fairly one-sided.

The best odds right now on Unai Emery’s men winning the game is 11/2, which to me seems a little too big and remember that with all the free bets available you can increase your stakes for nothing, all you have to do is locate the info, in fact, for all the latest free bets and betting offers this premier league season head over to It always makes sense to enhance your stakes with whatever offers you can get out of the bookies.

Now, why do I believe that 11/2 is a little too big? Well, Arsenal is far stronger than they were last season, at least one of their new signings, Dani Ceballos, has settled in very well. David Luiz is another one that seems settled and will feel far better following his debut for the Gunners, and of course, Nicolas Pepe showed against Burnley that he is ready to start against the Reds.

Aubameyang and Lacazette have already found their shooting boots and the whole team is full of confidence following two wins from their opening two games, a first in ten years.

Of course, Liverpool are also on fire, they have two wins and sit at the top of the standings, they handed Norwich City a harsh lesson but they did make hard work of it against Southampton and truth be told, they were lucky to escape that game with all three points.

So, 11/2 looks good to me for an Arsenal win but that is not my main recommendation for the game.

I see the game getting off to a cracking start with Liverpool being relentless in attack in front of their home fans and with their forward line and a suspect Arsenal defence I would not be surprised to see them score early on.

But the same applies to Arsenal, they have the players to counter-attack at speed and with Auba and Laca knocking goals in for fun I would not be surprised at all to see an Arsenal goal in the first half either.

Therefore the 11/4 generally available on both teams scoring in the first half looks very enticing.

My final early bet will be backing over 3.5 goals at 6/5.

To me, this will be a high scoring game, I just cannot see a 1-0 win or low scoring draw or anything like that, the firepower on display is simply too strong, the Arsenal defence suspect and even the Liverpool defence looks less formidable than it did last season.

Recommended bets

Arsenal win 11/2 – 1 point stake
Both teams to score first half 11/4 – 3 point stake
Over 3.5 goals 6/5 – 6 point stake.

Total stakes 10 points.

I’m not confident if Emery uses the same formation and line-up below he used against Burnley

Hopefully Pepe plays and I wish Xhaka can improve his mobility

  2. Okiror says:

i dont want to e extravagant but we should scout another ceballos or any player with flair n byte

  3. Grandad says:

Tactically this will be a real test for Emery. He could well revert to a more defensive shape like that deployed by Wolves and I very much doubt if he will play Pepe, Nelson and unfortunately WillockThe hub of the Liverpool team is Firmino and I would get Torreria to man mark him leaving Luiz as the spare man at the back.On the relatively small Annfield pitch Liverpool are unlikely to run out of energy and we simply have to match them in terms of work rate.If we can we could surprise 99% of the media pundits who will no doubt forecast a Liverpool win.

    Aubumayang, Lacazette
    Guendouzi, Torriera
    Monreal, Sokratis, Chambers, Luiz, AMN
