Arsenal have enjoyed a brilliant summer transfer window.
With the arrivals of Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Nørgaard, Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyökeres, the hunger to be at their best next season is clear.
Still, there is talk of unfinished business, with moves such as that for Eberechi Eze thought to be in the works.
Arsenal will undoubtedly be stronger, but then there is the business Liverpool have done, which has sent shockwaves across the Premier League.
Giorgi Mamardashvili, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and, to crown it all, the pursuit of Alexander Isak have the reigning champions looking formidable.
Arguably, they are the team to beat. Some even claim that if Liverpool land Isak, it might be game over for Arsenal.
Liverpool’s weakness spotted amid title hype
While many see only strength in this Liverpool side, a major weakness has been spotted.
Speaking on The Overlap podcast, Premier League legend Paul Scholes brilliantly identified a concern that should give Gooners hope.
Though he admitted, regarding the title race:
“Can’t look past Liverpool, I don’t think.”
He went on to point out:
“But I still think they need a new centre half. If one of them (Virgil van Dijk or Ibrahima Konaté) gets injured, that could be an issue.”
It has also been reported that Real Madrid have eased off Arsenal’s William Saliba, in favour of making a play for Konaté.
Arsenal know the impact of key injuries
After the 2024-25 season they endured, the Gunners know exactly what injuries can do. That is why they have fearlessly bolstered the squad.
While they would love to beat Liverpool to league glory while the Reds are at full strength, they certainly would not mind a few favours along the way.
Had Arsenal been able to field a fully fit Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, Riccardo Calafiori and Martin Ødegaard throughout last season, there is no way Liverpool would have cruised to the 2024-25 title – certainly not by 10 points clear at the top..
Yes, Liverpool may not want to hear it, but they were lucky to win it.

There’s always an element of luck even down to how the schedule happens to pan out in terms of playing teams when they are in form vs having a bad run of it. This is part of the PL and regardless of anything else, imo LP’ title shouldn’t be seen as diminished as it was won, one way or the other, on the pitch.
This is all probably true. It should be noted that most people do not try to discredit Liverpool’s win. No doubt, injuries are a real thing for many teams in the PL. However, for Arsenal they are seen as “excuses”.

I hope Konate will play very carefully throughout the season to avoid injuries before moving to Real Madrid
We know Isak is injury-prone, Salah is getting slower and Diaz has been replaced by a 16-year-old LW
My only concern is Ekitike who seems better than Nunez and Gakpo in pre-season games
Forget about Liverpool, rather we should think how we can improve from Arteta’s slow sideways passing game tactics.
Liverpool has won EPL without strengthening much last season, and here we are giving excuses of injuries.
Who is responsible for that, at the start of last year it was evident that we were lacking attacking players, but our manager chose to invest on LB. Had obsession to play or best MF at RB and loose/draw games.
Don’t have courage to give game time to academy players in cup games also, so how those will gate match experience.
I still strongly believe that that Konate will sign that extension and probably, either of Robbo and Tsimikas should be available as back-ups for the central defense.
I’ll feel bad if we later sign Isak bcos for me, he isn’t the next big thing for us. A player like Luis Suarez will be the best option but unfortunately, there’s no player like his prime in the market now but I think Luis Suarez Alvarez can try.
Gakpo has really stepped up his game flair including Szoboslai and Ekitike is a good addition. Ben Doak and Rio has a big role to play but unfortunately for Nyoni playing time will come difficult for him bcos of the calibre of players in the midfield. I actually don’t fancy Slot as a Liverpoodlian but a coach of either Ansi Flick or PSG is preferable bcos of the attacking players at our disposal this season.
