Lucas Perez is desperate to leave Arsenal and rejoin Deportivo

The Spanish striker Lucas Perez only arrived at Arsenal last summer in a last minute deal, but despite performing well when given a chance, he seemed to be shunned by Arsene Wenger and only used sporadically in the occasional Cup game. The day after the Cup Final he was flying back to La Coruña, and it seems he is desperate to rejoin the club that took 18m of Arsenal’s money last summer.

He made his feelings clear when he was quoted today as saying on fichajes.net: “I want to leave to play and be happy. Last year I barely had any opportunities and when I had them I took advantage of them. And this season is clearly going to be more of the same. I want to fight to go to the national team. I want to play soccer.

“But for that I have to leave. And I think that the best place I’ll be is in my hometown, in the Dépor. They are not behaving well with me. The thing of taking the shirt number without discussing it with me to give it to another, it seems to me the last straw. Regrettably I cannot follow this way. I have given everything, but I have not been reciprocated, so I can not stand it any more.” he said.

The problem is that Deportivo simply can’t, or won’t, pay the same amount as the Gunners paid for him last summer. So how on earth is Wenger going to sort this one out??

  1. Makes sense never really afforded the game time he deserved in light of some of his performance. He also probably feels like what was told to him when he arrived ultimately isn’t what panned out. Finally his injuries sustain during the past season didn’t help with consistency.

  2. let him go for resonable amount.. its clear Wenger doesnt rate him…
Of greater concern is now Mendy and apparently Mbappe now to Madrid then highly uunlikely Lemar will be sold as Monaco wont have anyone left but more than 250mn in the Bank !
Can Dijk looks like heading to Liverpool …So Carvalho and Mahrez ? Will that be enough for our team if Sanchez stays ?

    1. Yup, Carvalho (£30 Mil) and Mahrez (£40 mil) look more realistic, that’s if Wenger pulls his finger out of Sanchez’s ass in time. ?

  3. Perez’ situation has been handled disgracefully. There’s no way around it.

I wish him all the best after being handled horribly By Wenger.

  4. If he was not required why did we buy him the first place.Poor guy did good whenever he played but he was rarely given chance to prove himself.

  5. Wenger wants him to stay……and i hope he has plans to give Lucas some game time……..otherwise let him go…….sell him ………this is disgraceful…….and affects our chances of signing squad players………good ones of course…….

  6. I wonder why Wenger buys players whom he does not intend to use. The cases of podolski, Campbell and now Perez all buffle me. They were/ are better than some players who started/ start ahead of them.

    1. What I think is he chooses some players and then starts wasting time on negotiating .By the time he has done his penny pinching , we are near end of the transfer period so on the last day he just buys someone randomly.

  7. His old club have offered him a 10 year contract lol ?? that’s mainly because they can’t afford his wages and are willing spread it out to make up the difference over time.

  8. You know the Mystery of Perez is the one story I am bugging to hear someone spill one day. I hope people dont hate on Wenger, its a very Unwenger thing to do for one thing, especially spending 17m on a striker and not using it at all. Its just a strange situation.

Peopple dont get ahead of yourself and stay neutral, i think the truth will come out one day.

  9. Man city have signed Mendy while Wenger is busy looking for best players.Arsenal will live to struggle for as long as Wenger is the manager

    1. Pep also bought a goalie Walker and Danilo…. their defense has been awful over the years.. they could have a good chance in CL with this team though PL will take time for them to adjust as Mustafi and Xhaka found last year

  10. Its gone uncomfortably quite on the transfer front at Arsenal. Both on the in’s and out’s.

Our transfer team is too slow to even offload players we either don’t need or players who have to go. You would at least expert players like Lucas / Joel / Gibbs / Jack would have been sent out the door with ease by now in order to make room for others.

Only at Arsenal do squad players like Ox hold the club to ransom after been treated like loyalty for years, clearly the issue for a director of football still has to be raised in order to avoid such silly mistakes. We need a no nonses person handling contracts and negotiations. Look at the guys running Bayern, City, R. Madrid, hell even Levy next door now, etc. Ruthless on the transfer front and we don’t hear players throwing tantrums all the time.

    1. ?? Levy.. Spuds have not bought anyone and sold Walker !
Agreed though that Arsenal do take their timr though maybe the tour to Oz and China was the issue as Wenger was away.
I am hoping now he is back to see some movement this week…
They should get Lemar / Mahzrez and Carvalho now and then only wait to see which big player is available during the last couple of days transfer window merry go round !

Could be a very interesting few weeks especially as Monaco have 250 -300 mn to spend !!

      1. Good points neil.

I however mentioned Levy for the kind of money he has been bringing, Walker for 50mil? That’s day light robbery and its not the first time. All in all our transfer team needs to a lot active than they are, Wenger does not need to be in London for a “big” club like Arsenal to sale or buy players.

Fingers crossed for the best, as things stand its the same old Arsenal.

      2. Well so far arsenal have
Loaned asano to stuttgart (wages covered)
Loaned Bola to Notts County (wages covered)
Sold oconnor to Newcastle (development fee)
Sold hinds to wolfsburg – £2m
Sold Willock to benfica (development fee)
Sold crowley to Willem 2 (development fee)
Sold szczesney to juventus – £14m
Sold kamara to Dundee (development fee)
Sold sanogo to toulouse (no fee)
Signed kolasinac from shalke (no fee)
Signed lacazette from lyon – £52m

So that’s 11 transfers we have been involved in, not exactly sitting idle. Plus we still have to trim 9 players from the “over 21s” to get down to the 25 man squad limits.

We will really struggle to sell the likes of campbell and Wilshire who are both injured, whilst players like iliev, macey, jenkinson, Debuchy, toral perez and akpom have started about 20 games between them in the last year. For me they are the 9 players Wenger is really looking to leave out of his 25. I think cazorla could well be left out until January, giving us room for 1 signing, whilst I can also see ospina being moved on. This will allow Martinez to step up and save another place in the 25 as Huddart (under 21)could then become 3rd choice.

After all that is completed, if the likes of ox, bellerin, alexis, etc, etc it will need to be on a one out one in basis.

  11. Perez really had a hard time at arsenal and I think he has more to offer than a lot of the players at arsenal. I just can not understand the situation between him and Wenger. Yes, he has been injured, but there were many occasions he was fit and still no game time.

If he goes, which seems like 99%, I hope he gets to play and express himself. Wishing him the best of luck.

Not to change the subject, I am watching Inter vs Lyon. Inter was the far better team. The game ended 1- 0 inter, Jovetic goal ( tap in). The thing with inter they have a lot of players, Jovetic just came from Sevilla, can play across the top 3 positions, press, shoots and does the hard work, less injury prone than in his earlier days, will be 28 November and has EPL experience, valued at 12-16 million. That is a bargain. I think he also scored 6 goals in his five months at Sevilla with 4 assist and he really does put in the work.

Kondogbia as I said before he is the younger version of Matuidi and has more promise.
he is a box to box midfielder good technical skill, energy to burn and gets himself in the tackle. He has fallen off the radar, base on the choice of the previous coach. I think arsenal would be the perfect team for him to rebuild his career and get into the French squad.

Why i would not mind these two is because they are team players and arsenal is the welcoming world which there once flourishing dreams can be realise

  12. Who cares let him go ffs. We are in trouble boys seriously next season is gonna be a mightmare. I no it must be hard getting players in with exaggerated fees but what can we do. Is lamar worth £50 million ???? No flipping way…. if Wenger thinks he can change something for us on the wing just give the French mugs the money and done. Look at Man Coty they wanted 2 players from Monaco and get the job done at close to £100 million. We could to if we put the money down. We need a lift like never before no champions league football. Us going for mbepe was nothing more then a publicity stunt. SIMPLE AS. Why not offer them £100 million plus Giroud???? More realistically go for Van Djik hey Lamar or Assenio and through in a midfielder just to help the legless cazorla Willshire and Ramsey. Even more realistically we get no one else and miss out on top 4 again next season mark my words. Only 3 world class signing will change things. As for Lacozette world class????? Pmsl no chance. He is an upgrade on Giroud but only cos he’s fast and versatile. I’m so pissed of. Danilo back me up mate lol

  13. A panic buy indeed. I told you guys that he is a nothing, and some of you deluded fools thought he would score up to 15 goals in one season. Yea, yea. How awfull it is to be right with the bs we are being feed with. But that doesnt matter. Sell him and wish him all the best.

Not good enough son. Not good enough.

    1. A lot of people don’t even know he was a No. 10 before his role got changed probable due to them not having a quality CF.

  14. I do question the CF signing that year, Wenger wanted Lacazette but we read that Vardy was 1st choice at the start of the window, AFC went for Lacazette this year and not Vardy…

So who wanted that style of CF? Wenger never shown trust in Perez…

Why would Wenger buy a player he wouldn’t trust in?

It makes more sense if we consider the board buying players for Wenger as the answer, if you get given a toy you didn’t want then you are unlikely to play with that toy over the toys you wanted.

  15. Think Wenger should let him go, even if it means selling him cheaply to Deportivo- they can’t afford £17m. Lucas has always given 100% and has impressed every time he has been in the team. To take his shirt number without consulting him is poor from the club. Lucas deserves better. Hope he can find a club where he’ll play regularly as he definitely has the ability to get into the Spanish world cup squad.

  16. I actually think Arsenal is trying to clear the shelves of old stock before, putting up the new stock, Manciti got rid of some of their old stock early, so they brought in the players, except for some stock way, way at the back, we have not cleared our shelves of the old stock.

  17. Wenger has his fault no doubt but he was injured like 3 or 4 times last season. when was available he played and he played well. He has already made it clear he want out and Wenger had shown the door is opened for him to leave by notj included him in his preseason plan. All he needs to do is tell deportivo to give us our 17m back. It is as simple as that.

  18. Disgraceful really come back to pick up your shirt and find its got a different number on it!
Favourites get their ars*s kissed and bottom of the pile get treated like plankton.
I actually thought he played well when he came in, got to wonder he seemed to get on well with sanchez on and off the pitch is this why wenget didn’t take to him?
