Madness… Arsenal bigwigs considering Ramsey out, Gomes in?

Arsenal are apparently considering Andre Gomes as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey, with the Welshman supposedly eyeing a new challenge.

The central midfielder was one of our most consistent performers last season, and deservedly picked up the Arsenal Player of the Season award for the 2017-18 campaign. The 27 year-old is said to have been offered a new long term deal this week, with a five-year contract being mooted, but the player will need convincing it seems.

Unai Emery is claimed to be keeping tabs on Barcelona’s Andre Gomes, who is set to be offloaded by the Spanish champions. The Portugese international has struggled to impress in two seasons with the Catalan giants under two different bosses, and is now set to be shipped out in the current window.

Emery watched Gomes impress for Valencia whilst he was in charge of Sevilla previously, and must see him as an ideal replacement, but his arrival is apparently dependant on Ramsey’s future.

The future of Rambo will need to be sorted quickly if we don’t wish to miss out on the Barca star, with a number of teams around Europe currently being linked.

Personally I will be disgusted with the powers that be if Aaron Ramsey isn’t given the incentive needed to keep him at the club, a losing our best player this summer will simply be unacceptable.

Ramsey needs to be a player to build the team around, along with our exciting strikeforce, and I for one will be furious to see him go.

Is Ramsey too important to lose?

  1. what do you expect since he don’t want to sign a new contract, he should be sold immediately nobody is bigger than the club, we shouldnt let his contract run down thereby disturbing the dressing room atmosphere like Sanchez.

  2. For God sake no player is more important than a club, if he doesn’t wanna stay then sale him,we don’t want a repeat of the Alexis saga pls

  3. I like ramsey as he is one of the rare player in the squad who makes runs instead of waiting for the ball or the useless sideways passing shit. Remember ramsey, ozil, alexis had more combination play than the others because they all made runs although ramsey was not on their level. But unlike his fanboys i also recognise his weaknesses like lack of patience or defensive positioning and penchant for unnecessary flicks.

He isn’t unsellable especially if he wants to be treated like a diva. A good long term contract on the table, new coach, new system, emery likes all-action midfield play if he isn’t convinced by that then show him the door. We got good money for ox so ramsey should fetch a bigger fee which can be used to buy a good midfield player.

  4. OT…. Ozil resigns from German team. He released the 3rd epistle of his statement 30mins ago.

    1. Also Barca have agreed a €75m fee with Chelsea for Willian which makes Dembele available for at least a loan.
However,Unai Emery wants one more winger and it’s likely we may try to sign him on a permanent deal because we have the money for a big signing.

        1. what would possess chelsea to endorse any deal that would open the way for dembele to come to arsenal? i don’t see it happening either by loan agreed or in full we won’t see it eitherway. you might need to prepare the excuses in advance kev you gonna need them.

even if the sale of willian is sealed the cumulative effect does not result in dembele becoming a gunner. we’ll see

          1. You think Chelsea are thinking of Dembele to Arsenal in this deal? Why are you talking like they know our plans or transfer dealings.
Who won’t sell Willian for €75m?Mind you Willian is not even world class to begin with.
Chelsea can use that money to buy a young talent like Leon Bailey who prefers Chelsea to any of the EPL teams.

I’m not saying Dembele to Arsenal is 100% happening but there is a big big chance it can happen if Willian signs. We were looking at Dybala but got rebuffed in our attempts. We felt if Ronaldo came there could be a way.Now we are also going to try for Dembele.

          2. @waal2waal
Chelsea might not have much choice if Willian wants to go and the money is on the table

        2. @KEV
KEV, ARE YOU SURE ABOUT DEMBELE COMING HERE ? WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT IWOBI ON LOAN TO CRYSTAL PALACE AND ZAHA COMING HERE THAT IS IF WE DONT GET DEMBELE ?!!

    2. There’s a saying that no one is bigger that a club ,Ozil surely can’t be bugger than Germany he should be deported for being used against the interest I’d Germany

      1. Counsel Germany are not a club – and the deport bit needs you (or someone) to expand on what point you’ve failed to add meaning to. AND nobody deports a home national from their birth place – they deport foreigners only if found to be illegal in a country – think about it.

      2. Are you really a lawyer? If you don’t the simple rule of deportation how would be able to defend an accused person in the court of law.

      3. counsel, i cannot prove that you are a lawyer, nor, can i prove that you are not a lawyer.but, if indeed you are a lawyer then you would know, and should know, that you are sailing very close to the wind here. you are coming across as a racist, a hater, a non football lover, and most worryingly , you are coming across as a total ass. the vast majority of your comments make no sense whatsoever, in fact , i have decided not to bother reading your comments from here on in .if , you are a lawyer, you would have better turn of phrase, as it were.i now believe that you just make comments to cause trouble and strife on here.just give it a rest lad, we come in here to talk about the arsenal , not about your alleged profession , i dont think anybody wishes to know what each of us work at .take a break.

    3. Sort of :
“I am German when we win, but I’m immigrant when we lose”.
“My contribution to the team since 2009 has been forgotten. I feel unwanted, racism and disrespect”.
“If a high ranķ of DFB officer disrespect my Turkish root and selfishly turn me into political agenda, then enough is enough”.
      (Mesut Ozil)
I hope this demoralize things wont brake Ozil’s mentality. Arsenal is in the phase that need everything from Ozil’s best.
      COYO!! Come On You Ozil!!!

  5. Mr. Admin, If Ramsey does not want to sign again , what do you suggest we do then. You say you would be disgusted if we don’t keep him, so do you recommend chains, bolts and locked doors then? Or bodyguards stopping him leaving perhaps! We are not in Syria , or any other hellhole , but in a free country where players, who are also human – which it seems I need to remind you – have free choice to stay or leave under their contract. If he chooses to run down his contract that is up to him but the club, under the new professional set up no longer allow that(Thank God and sanity) and so will sell him if he refuses to re-sign on. As they should and must, despite your bizarre comments.

    1. @ Jon fox I know you campaigned for Wenger out though on the tabloids, but the signing he has made do not inspire confidence save for torreira, we have not reached the promised land dispite the change in management arguably.I bet you will be the first one here to rant Emery out! and the twats at Arsenal fan TV led by Claude. The reason I’m not optimistic is hearing a manager say a player like xhaka us very important for him,Iwobi contract to be extended and rewarding mediocrity . The nightmare continues, the reality will strike soon

      1. Counsel just shut the the hell up. You must be the most ignorant, racist person ever on this site. One day your big mouth is going to get in trouble..trust me!

      2. Counsel. Do me the favour of not telling me what I will say, as you just have done. I have my own mind and will say what I want , when I want and I do not need you telling me what you THINK I will say. As usual you are wrong but I HAVE GOT USED TO READING THE RUBBISH YOU WRITE. Please don’t tell me to write the rubbish which you , and you alone, most often , actually think. I do not need an inferior intellect like yours dictating to me. Is that Clear! If you are not optimistic about Emery, as you say you are not, then so be it. But you do not speak for me. Get that?

  6. Ozil give a big old FU to germany football federation. Disgusting to slant him for ridiculous fabricated political reasons. Kick his ass for footballing reason not political ones. What was he suppose to say to the turkey president ? No i can’t take a picture with you because the racists shit in germany will be offended. Ozil is shy its obvious on/off the field, no wonder he didn’t refuse.

  7. Ramsey is important because he has been playing for many years at Arsenal, he is a hardworker that can inspire the other players and he is a homegrown British player. But not very important like what Henry, Vieira, Van Persie and Sanchez were for Arsenal

Ramsey can go if he doesn’t agree, but Andre Gomes is simply not an upgrade to our current midfielders. I have been watching Barcelona for several years and the major strength of Gomes is only his height

Gomes is lacklustre and likes to play safe with many backward/ sideways passes, like typical Arsenal midfielders under Wenger. He has been tried as a DM, but he is not as dirty and not as visionary as Busquets

    1. Ramsey’s future will be clear this week.People need not worry too much because all signs point to him signing a new deal.

Sommer will not happen because Cech is unlikely to leave Arsenal. However,Ospina on the other hand, is 100% leaving.

After rejecting an £11m from Lazio for Alex Iwobi. We have handed Iwobi a new five year contract worth £55,000 per week.

      1. Iwobi might work on his final touch and end up being a decent player. He has a fine footwork but no final touch

        1. I suppose we are all entitled to dream. It’s not only his final touch, he is one of the worst finishers I’ve seen. His EPL record is 65 apps. 8 goals and 10 assists. I don’t think that entitles him to a new 3 year contract at £55k a week (if indeed it’s true). I’m starting to get depressed again.

    2. Gotanidea, you missed the most influential player to come to the Arsenal in recent decades – Dennis Bergkamp.

  8. Sell sell sell. Dude is a diva and legend in his own mind. Unbalances our midfield, lack of discipline hurts the team, and one good year and a good 6 months couple years ago out of 10 is weak.

Career stats show him exactly as he is; average midfielder who is rotation at a big club and starter for midtable team.

Aubamayang and Lacazette make me forget about Giroud, and Mhki on RW makes me happy Walcott isn’t around. There are better midfielders, don’t be scared of change.

Ramsey needs Arsenal far far more than Arsenal need him. What other club behaves this way? Utd not shaking over Pogba, Liverpool didn’t fidget over Can leaving, more examples I could mention.

Thought club learned lesson with top players in Sanchez and Ozil. Obviously not, now being held hostage by average injury prone midfielders.

Emery has his opinion, but he’s only the coach. Gazidis is boss, Huss does contracts, power isn’t centralized anymore.

    1. Shut the hell up. Ramsey is clearly our best midfielder and among the top 10 goalscorers under Wenger’s reign. Please stop talking because you clearly do not know football. I actually feel bad for you bro. How stupid can you be?

      1. Neo perhaps you should check some stats before shooting off your foul mouth.

36 goals and 40 assists in 10 years for attacking midfielder Ramsey. That is very poor. Good stats for a defensive midfielder, but for an attacking midfielder is average.

FIFA 18 is calling you back. Stick to football you know and let the adults talk.

        Thank you, you’re dismissed.

          1. Compare his goals and assists from how many starts he got, then compare it with Cazorla who played more games and was a wide player and an ACM and a scoring CM player. Ramsey was a bench player for a long, long time, and if you look all that up and also compare it with other premier league players you will see how Ramsey certainly made the most of his game time.

        1. He hasn’t been used as an attacking mid
In that 10 years… he was used out wide and in a holding mid spot… when he has played as an attacking mid is when he has done damage…. if he signs it zips good for us if emery uses him for what he is.

      2. Neo, sorry mate your wrong, if you knew anything about football you’d see that Cardiff City is Ramsey’s level. The truth is, he’s stalling on signing a new contract because he’s waiting for a big club to come in for him, but nobody want’s him. Sums him up

        1. Neo, one more point. Among the top ten goalscorers under Wenger, what a joke, 36 Premier League goals in 234 games. Get your facts right.

  9. I agree with the author I think we’re undermining just how good Ramsey is for us, I for one would be devastated to see him leave. He has his deficiencies but in critical games Ramsey has always been a big game player. With Emery’s management I can see him reaching the heights of that 2012-2013 season where he was by far the best player in the prem before injury.

If he is to leave then Andre Gomez is a massive step backwards from Ramsey. I would expect a player of a much higher calibre to replace one of our star men

  10. Sell him off please, players are becoming fond of holding Arsenal to ransom. He ain’t no Messi or Rinaldo, he aint even close to Mbappe or Neymar. We should never allow any player pull the Sanchez stunt while playing for us. Besides it’s not as if Gomes is that bad, I’ll still pick Gomes over an unfocused Ramsey. If he’ll play the way Sanchez played before leaving then ship him off

    1. Eddie I’d rather see what AMN can do given a run of games paired with Torreira.

      Honest question to anyone:

Whom do you think will perform better for the club both now, as well as the next several years; AMN or Ramsey?

I believe 3 years from now AMN will be our best midfielder bar none, and one of the best in premier league period. Much Rather see AMN starting, and Smith-Rowe getting sub and domestic cup appearances, than Ramsey and his mindless drudgery.

      1. AMN is the future bro.. I really am waiting to see us have a wonderkid like Mbappe or Martial who ain’t scared. Nelson is far from it. I just want us to have at least one of those golden boys

        1. I hear you Eddie, me as well.
AMN is better defender than Ramsey, better technically, faster, disciplined, and only going to improve going forward.

What does Ramsey have over AMN in terms of ability?

I’d even say AMN has a better engine than Ramsey, much faster also.

          1. Wow are that stupid? Ramsey is way better technically, way better goalscorer and much more stamina. Maitland Niles is just better defensively, and we have a new DM for that so Ramsey can just focus on goals which maitland niles has never scored a goal for us!

            1. Geez, where on earth do these guys come from? He states his view then you’re asking if he’s stupid? You couldn’t oppose his view without insults?..

          2. Ramsey’s too indiscipline for my liking, I’ve said it on here years ago, If you’re a DM and you play alongside Ramsey you’ll suffer and you look average, you’ll even go through hell because of his undisciplined attitude. Look at Coquelin when he played with Santi, Coq was one of the best DM that season because Cazorla had his back and stayed always played his part well in assisting Cow. But the following season Santi got injured, Ramsey moved back to Midfield, Boom!! Coquelin started struggling because Ramsey was always bombing forward, loses the ball a lot while trying lame flicks, doesn’t assist his DM. Ramsey could leave Arsenal and I won’t feel it.
I ain’t scared of change, Get a more disciplined and better Midfielder in and our Midfield will be balanced

            1. Don’t bother trying to educate him Eddie. Neo, just focus on the goals,. All 3.6 of ’em a season.

      2. u shouldn’t even compare… niles is way better than ramsey… niles dribbles, great passer, defends, holds ball well, marks and is unselfish all of which ramsey doesn’t have except holding ball, turning around like an idiot and passing back and sideways…

        1. I don’t agree… Ramsey is the better player right now… 3 years from now probably amn… but right now 2018 Ramsey all day. No one is stupid 🙂 I just don’t agree.

          1. Niles played a fair bit last season to my knowledge. Saying its not even comparable as Niles is obv better is just foolish. Niles has a bright future, but Ramsey is a damn good player and was the only one to reach expected form levels last season other than our late arrivals. Niles had games like Xhaka, where he hit the ball straight to an attacker. When he finally went to CM last season he fluffed it, and some said this is why he was learning out wide because he’s not ready for CM yet. Stop trying to undermine a very good player by hyping up a favorite who’s barely even started out yet. I don’t like putting Niles down, but if people want to talk real, I can get pretty damn real.

      1. Are insults all you offer? At least contribute an opinion, pose a question, or debate someone’s comment.

It’s not too much to ask, really.

Otherwise, please simmer down, and let the adults talk. You may even learn something if you get out of your own way.

        1. With you all the way on this Durand. Neo is an absolute disgrace and the sooner he crawls back to the gutter the better. Appears to have about as much brain as a baby ant.

      2. This guy is a demented fool whose brain is working upside down. Shows why you are full of insults. Only fools celebrate mediocrity. ask yourself which of the top 4 clubs will Ramsey be in their starting 11, that should guide you as to what you think Arsenal to be if what you called our best midfielder cannot make the bench in the teams we are supposedly competing against

        1. Agree with all you guys. he’s foul mouth should not be tolerated on this site. Admin take note.

  11. if ramsey thinks that he is bigger than the club, its time he moves out. we lost much better players then him, so be it please leave – one good season does not convince me of his abilities. how many times he had an off day and how many missed chances he missed. out like wenger. gooner = for ever

  12. Totally agree with Durand. It is all about him. Gives 120% going forward but lacks effort in getting back to defend. Plays too many side ways passes to my liking and his flicks and slow thought of pass slows momentum of moves far too often. Not saying he is a bad player but if we want to move forward then a better quality of player is needed.

    1. I have been saying this for eons! He runs at the pace of Usain bolt into the box but he has the pace of a snail when he is supposed to get back into position.

  13. Quite easily said…spot on mate…tired of flogging this issue over and over again…Ramsey needs arsenal more than Arsenal need him

  14. Ramsey and Iwobi out Gomes and dembele in … Then we are talking … Though I am still waiting for someone to explain what happened to Gomes in move from Valencia where he looked real quality to barca where he went AWOL

    1. Andre Gomes looked good in Valencia, because of his surroundings

Once he played with Busquets, Rakitic, Neymar and Messi, it was very apparent that his level is still below those players

The same thing happened to Ousmane Dembele. The difference is Dembele could catch up in the future, as he is still very young and has got more guts than Andre Gomes to take higher risks in the field

  15. Oh get a grip of yourself ffs. It would be height of irresponsibility if club did not consider alternatives for player refusing to sign a contract.

  16. Mesut is such a hypocrite. He claims that his reason of leaving the German national team is bec of the abuse he gets. Racism towards his backgrounds, religion, let him call it whatever he wants, yet he has the guts to associate himself with a problematic figure for propagandist means as Erdogan. What a clown. The reason he is leaving the team is bec the German national team has no need of a player who is lazy and lacks the determination to play for the team. A bad trait very known to us.

      1. You are the last person who could tell me what to do and who to support. So finish off your kebab and come at me again when you have anything useful to say.

        1. Ozil was politically naive to be associated with Erdogen. It would be expected that he would be aware of the suffering that Erdogen has inflicted on any Turkish citizen, who has opposed him.

    1. You are a disgrace if that’s how you think.
All the Gunners in the world, all the Germans in the world should stand by ozil now. He is human too, Racism is real. Unless you have gone through what he has gone through, you will never understand.
Your reasoning should be even a disgrace to your parents, if they brought up such reason it’s sad.

Sometimes in life it’s better to realize that football, as much as it pays, to most of us it’s entertainment, him being bashed for footballing reasons is acceptable as he said. But on a political point of view??? It’s never right at any particular time. When he was bieng voted Germany player of the year for (was it 3consecutive years?) He wasn’t lazy?
When he won world cup with them he was a German, but now that he didn’t perform at this world cup he is a German-turkish? How can you also perform with all that hate??
You need to grow up mate.. you growing old is mandatory, but growing up needs effort.

      1. Associating your self with a lunatic and complain about other lunatic is stupid thing to do. Thats what i am getting at.

Ozil plays good whenever he wants. Before he got his contract everyone could see how good of a player he can be. Now that he has his money, he is going back in being the lazy guy again. No determination and very entitled. Like i said its something we have been accusing him at Arsenal as well.

I condemn the abuse he got from some people, but i can tell that he is using this as a springboard to escape responsibility. What better way to do so as creating drama and shift all the bs which has been gathered for so long towards the Germans alone.

    2. I’m short of words. I don’t even know what write in response to what said about ozils issue. I need to ask, is it your dislike of him that cloud your judgment or is that how you saw it. Now Ozil is lazy but when he was one of the stand out performer when Germany won the WC 4 years ago he wasn’t lazy. When he won German player of the year 5 times in 6 years he wasn’t lazy. When he singlehandedly destroyed English in 2009 European under 21 final in 2009 he wasn’t lazy. If you really know Ozil and how he plays you will understand all these rubbish talk about him be lazy is a myth.

    3. you are a kinda stupid you know…. the negativity in your life has blocked your reasoning obviously. if there’s a brain in your head you’ll sympathize with him and understand that nobody deserves such treatment. disgraceful fan.

  17. The height of ignorance and level of disrespect we all have on this forum is alarming and annoying at the very least…hey Mr ks- gunner am sure you based your intelligent conclusion of the ozil matter on his statements earlier today and not on the opinions of the media which clearly has been biased and unfair to ozil..because here you are making a fool out of yourself under the pretence of airing your opinion..which is not dissimilar from how we all react on this forum. Please try get as much information as possible before saying shiit next time and reducing the IQ or the room.

  18. Ha, ha, ha . . . so, which “big” club(s) would Ramsey walk onto as a starter? Man Chity, MANnUre, or which bigger Euro club(s), exactly? Give me a break – he’s a good player, but exactly which clubs out there are throwing big offers at Ramsey to get him to their club? Have I missed the offers for “got to have Ramsey” big money offers being reported?

  19. Arsenal have a better team if Ramsey stays. He has been used out of position And poorly coached most of his career. When he is allowed to play as an attacking midfielder he makes teams pay.

    1. Lies. I can bring up many games where Ramsey plays in Ozil’s position over the last 5 years and many of us same Gooners were frustrated with his lack of creativity.

      1. I wouldn’t say I’m lying but I respect your point. I just don’t see it that way… he hasn’t played consistently in that spot. And when he has had consistent runs in that spot he is our best midfielder. Just the way I see it.

  20. Ramsey should know that Emery is not Wenger. He needs to be very careful and not overrate him self to much. He is already earning a lot of money, and thats due of Wenger being very generous in the past. So i am for him staying at the club, but in case him asking for more money, the door he should see.

  21. It is highly unlikely that Ramsey will be leaving the club, Arsenal hour as probably done more for Ramsey, than Ramsey for Arsenal. Right now i can not pinpoint a team within the top six that actually wants Ramsey.

Also of note, most would consider Ramsey our best Midfielder last season, but that does not say much because although he made driving runs into our opponents’ box to score, his main job was to assisted Xhaka to cover our midfield.

My advice to Ramsay and his representatives is to sign quickly and have talks later in the season if Arsenal is doing good on an improved contract.

I think one thing that might have contributed to his stance at the moment is Emery’s statement of Ramsey being one of the individuals he which to bill arsenal around.

There are better midfielders available and i hope this is sorted in the coming week, Gomez is talented and would be a perfect fit for Arsenal. Sanchez and Henry were called flops at their previous club before Arsenal

  22. I really don’t understand why we are not going all out for max meyer……i ve not really watched him ,but from d reviews are good.as for ramsay, wont break my sleeP any if he goes

    1. Stuart Pearce once famously made a goose of himself by claiming Dennis Bergkamp would be a failure at Arsenal, when he moved from Inter Milan in 1995. We all know how that turned out.

    2. Z, Max Meyer is currently pricing himself out of the market, because although he is on a free transfer, his weekly wage demands are too high.

  23. I dont mind selling ramsey if he is asking too much. We need an upgrade. But NOT Gomes. Ramsey is slightly better just with his premier league experience alone but better in most areas.

Gomes will be a slight downgrade. Barcelona don’t want him.
    We can do better

  24. In life as in football, everything is a gamble. If Arsenal were to trade Ramsey for Gomez
there are 2 sides to the coin.Admittedly the latter would have to adapt to the rigours
of the epl which is physically demanding and fastmoving .Furthermore fouls which are
outlawed in Spain could be deemed as part of football and not deemed a yc/rc.
The new manager must show he has the drive to make hard decisions and not dither
which had happened at Arsenal for years.

  25. If Ramsay goes, and I hope he does not,Gomez is not an adequate replacement. In terms of pace he is on a par withXhaka and no better in ability. The talented AMN is waiting in the wings and with Torreria on board there would be a great opportunity to unite him with his international colleague Bentacour who at 21 has a great future.Juventus may well be reluctant to sell him but he is a cut above Gomez in my opinion.
