Man City hands Arsenal unlikely boost in race for La Liga attacker

Manchester City and Arsenal are both reportedly interested in signing Rodrygo during this transfer window, although circumstances may provide the Gunners with an unexpected advantage. The Brazilian attacker could become available at Real Madrid if a suitable bid is made, despite his manager stating publicly that he wishes to keep him.

Rodrygo has not enjoyed the same level of playing time as some of the club’s other stars, and his situation has led to speculation regarding his future. Real Madrid will retain him if he wishes to remain, but growing reports suggest that an exit is possible should the right offer arrive.

Arsenal Monitoring the Situation Closely

Arsenal are understood to be keen on strengthening their attacking options and view Rodrygo as an ideal addition. The challenge for them lies in competing with Manchester City, whose interest in the forward has been well documented. Securing such a high-profile signing would not be straightforward, especially given City’s financial strength.

However, there are indications that Arsenal’s path could be less complicated than initially expected. According to The Sun, City will only pursue Rodrygo if they lose Savinho, who has attracted attention from Tottenham. Should the Lilywhites fail to complete a deal for Savinho, City would have no reason to make a move for Rodrygo.

The Financial Challenge of a Deal

With Manchester City unlikely to proceed unless triggered by events elsewhere, Arsenal could find themselves with a clearer opportunity to negotiate with Real Madrid. This scenario would significantly increase their chances of landing the player, although any agreement would inevitably come at a considerable cost.

Rodrygo is highly regarded and remains a player of significant quality, which means Real Madrid would demand a substantial fee for his departure. For Arsenal, the decision will rest on whether they are prepared to invest heavily in order to secure his services.

While the situation is still developing, the dynamics of interest from Manchester City and Tottenham may well determine whether Arsenal succeed in bringing Rodrygo to the Premier League. What is certain is that he would represent a major coup for whichever club is able to secure his signature during this window.

  1. Not only is the Brazilian seeing very limited time, he’s also been played on the right out of his preferred position.

Once again he starts on the bench today and not sure he’ll see any action, but that’s the price you pay at the cemetery of talents.

Maybe a firm bid of £55 mil could test the Bernabeu giant resolve, if Arsenal is serious

    1. Still peddling the old “cemetery of talents” nonsense, I see.

How do you explain then, at the age of still only 24, Rodrygo has already won 13 trophies, including 2 Champions Leagues, at “the cemetery”? That’s as many as Arsenal has won since 1999-2000, that’s before he was born. Seems to me that that’s a pretty good price.

        1. Absolutely. It would be OK if there was any justification to it, but there’s not.

Real Madrid has a high turnover of players but that’s because more players want to play for them than probably any other team in Europe, so many do move on. It doesn’t appear to have slowed their trophy success rate down.

For any professional football player, consistent game is generally more valuable than sitting on the bench at a club like Real Madrid, even if it is a prestigious team. Though while playing for Real Madrid offers prestige and potentially more visibility, consistent playing time is paramount for a player development, form and overall career progression. Remember Rodrygo is still a couple years from his peak.

Being a consistent starter allows a player to build rhythm, confidence, and showcase their abilities more effectively, this promotes happiness in the player and by extension their families,

            So there is my justificación,

Dan, I know you will agree with me , in life most of us two main priorities is our families and our happiness as to where we kick a ball is secondary.

            1. You’re fully entitled to your opinion, but that’s no justification for your rather silly phrase.

The fact that they ARE Real Madrid means that inevitably there are going to be far more players wanting to play for the team than can actually do it. If players are good enough, they will often get a chance, but in the end, many are let go. So what? Others such as Guler (20) and Endrick (19) are in their first team now.

Not that long ago you were using Odegaard’s move from Real Madrid to justify your “cemetery” jibe. Since joining Arsenal he has won one trophy, while RM has won eleven, including the Champions League twice. Still life in the cemetery then.

As for your final sentence, presumably Dan will know what on earth you’re on about.

              1. I think that you are being harsh on Gunsmoke who has eloquently explained what he means. I understood what he meant at the time and it is of course obvious because they are such a huge club. Yes, it does mean that there are more talented players than there is room for and it means that the vast majority will try but fail to succeed there. There are more who will fall by the wayside even if they were initially successful because the club are absolutely ruthless

Anyone raising the idea that RM can’t be what Gunsmoke refers to as the cemetery of talents is totally missing the point regarding trophies won. It is an irrelevant posture because of the sheer number of top players who jump at the chance to play for them and that will always secure them trophies

                1. SueP

                  We agree to disagree.

Regarding your reference to “more who will fall by the wayside even if they were initially successful because the club are absolutely ruthless” – that happens at all clubs! Players who were “initially” successful are replaced all the time by others coming through, not just at RM. It’s not ruthlessness, it’s ensuring you have the best available players in the team.

My earlier point regarding Odegaard is that he was described in a previous exchange as somehow “escaping” from RM. Had he stayed, however, at the “cemetery” (as they wanted him to stay at the time) he would very likely have been more successful. So, was it an escape?

                  1. Bertie
Please refer to my 2nd comment to Dan. I am guessing that Gunsmoke has English as a second language gauging some of his highly descriptive use of language (maybe ‘escaping’ is one of them and sayings that in my 60+ years of life have never come across. I see the cemetery of talents as one of those. I understand what he means but it seems that not everyone does

            2. No mate
              You can’t make it up
Be like me saying , Man City are bottle jobs because they don’t win titles lol.
Going off your own criteria Arsenal are the cemmentery of talents more then Real Madrid
Since Arteta has been manager I can name more youngsters who do better at Real Madrid then Arsenal

              1. You have totally missed the point Dan
Do you not think the fact that more youngsters will do well at RM rather than Arsenal is down to their reputation as the leading club in the world? Arsenal are not and consequently we will produce a Saka from time to time but not the same as Madrid do. It is about their prestige

                1. No I think his argument is Real Madrid are cemmentery of talents and in this instance he picked Rodrygo
Therefore go look at his age , what he’s won,CL finals hes played in then compare to Gooner same age
                  He’s simply made it up

                  1. Gunsmoke uses this phrase more or less whenever RM are mentioned and in itself has nothing to do with Rodrygo. He would say the same if suddenly Bellingham found himself. surplus to requirements. It is his go to expression and is pretty harmless tbh

                  2. Dan

Our colleague, Gunsmoke, has been pushing this line for a long time. Longevity doesn’t equate to accuracy of course, but there it is.

  2. Trossard is re-signing for a a higher pay. That’s the end of us investing in attack. Better luck next season, again. Lol. Never fail to make me laugh this club.
