Man United v Arsenal Betting Preview – Tough game to call

This game used to be one of the biggest matches of the season between the two favourites for the title every year, but since Alex Ferguson left Old Trafford, both David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal have struggled to make United back into the powerhouse we expect to see.

But it will still make for an interesting game, with Arsenal needing to win to stay bang in the title race, and United desperately trying to catch back up with the Top Four. 888Sport Betting have made Arsenal favourites, priced at 11/8, While Man United are currently at 9/4 despite being at home, and there are very good reasons why this game could go either way.

Arsenal are having trouble scoring goals at the moment but the fact is that they have won their last two League games against Bournemouth and League leaders Leicester, which was no mean feat, but previously they hadn’t won for four games. Man United have also only won two out of their last six in the League, but at Old Trafford they have won four out of their last five, while Arsenal have only won two of their last six away games! It is all very confusing!

Both sides have had many injury problems this season, although Arsenal have got most of their important players back but they do not yet seem to have found their rhythm at the moment. They lost Oxlade-Chamberlain on Tuesday and Santi Cazorla is the one big player that they could do with recovering very soon. On the bright side Gabriel should return to the squad and the ex-United Danny Welbeck is slowly gaining match fitness.

Man United have a host of injuries to top players. Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian, Marouane Fellaini, Phil Jones and Ashley Young, while Wayne Rooney, Will Keane, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Luke Shaw are definitely out, and Anthony Martial was downed by his hamstring on Thursday, and that was just warming up. The plus side is that Chris Smalling and David De Gea are expected back, and Marcus Rojo returned on Thursday and is available. They also have the wild card of Marcus Rashford, the youngster who scored two goals on his debut on Thursday. He could retain his place after that performance.

So on to my score prediction. Arsenal could easily have held the mighty Barcelona to 0-0 if they had kept their shape a bit longer than 70 minutes, and they are having a nightmare in front of goal. I think they will stack with the same defensive plan tomorrow, and with both teams desperate to avoid defeat I will suggest that this game could be a draw as well, which is priced at 19/8 by 888Sport. I will also have a small bet on 0-0 (makes sense at the moment) and maybe 0-1 to Arsenal (13/2) in the hope that one of our strikers remembers where the net is!
