Manchester United have reportedly renewed their interest in Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly, although the Gunners are said to have no desire to part with one of their brightest academy graduates.
According to The Independent, United are investigating whether Arsenal would consider selling the England international this summer. However, Mikel Arteta’s side currently have no plans to sanction his departure despite the reported interest.
Arsenal remain keen to keep Lewis-Skelly
Lewis-Skelly has already established himself as one of the club’s most exciting young talents after breaking into the first team and going on to make 75 senior appearances.
Although his game time was more limited during the first half of last season, the 19-year-old fought his way back into Arteta’s plans and produced a series of impressive performances during the run-in as Arsenal secured the Premier League title and reached the Champions League final.
Arteta openly admitted he may have been too cautious with the youngster’s development, praising Lewis-Skelly for remaining patient and taking his opportunity when it eventually arrived.
The Arsenal manager even acknowledged that he perhaps should have introduced him into midfield sooner after the teenager excelled in his new role.
Transfer plans could influence Arsenal’s squad
The report suggests Manchester United’s interest could become more relevant if Arsenal complete further high-profile additions before the transfer window closes.
With the Gunners continuing to be linked with players such as Bruno Guimaraes and Vinicius Jr, there has been speculation that departures may eventually be required to balance the squad.
Even so, the current suggestion is that Arsenal would prefer to keep Lewis-Skelly rather than cash in on one of the club’s most promising homegrown players.
England setback has not slowed his progress
Despite finishing last season strongly, Lewis-Skelly was surprisingly left out of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup.
Many Arsenal supporters questioned that decision at the time, particularly given the teenager’s performances during the closing weeks of the campaign.
Nevertheless, his omission has done little to affect his growing reputation, with interest from one of Arsenal’s biggest domestic rivals only reinforcing how highly he is regarded.
Whether Manchester United’s interest develops into a formal offer remains to be seen, but based on the latest reports, Arsenal are not actively looking to sell the young midfielder.

Well when a team that has won the champions league comes in a player has to consider it
As much as they possibly can, Arsenal need to hold on to the best of their Academy Players.
Saka, MLS and Dowman are current Success stories.
Mistakes have been made in the past:
Gnabry, Balogun, and famously Harry Kane.
I know people say that hindsight is a wonderful thing.
There’s also a very famous saying: (Winston Churchill)
‘Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it”
Hopefully Arsenal have learned – and will continue to put the resources time and effort into the Academy to continue to produce future players like Saka, MLS and Dowman AND Gnabry, Balogun, and Kane.
And then have the wisdom and foresight to keep them progressing at the Club when they do.

Didn’t someone post here on JA earlier in the transfer window this would happen?
No chance,we need four players for the two pivot positions going into the new season. Rice,Zubimendi,MLS and potentially Bruno is a formidable group and we need to keep it that way.
As things stand,MLS might be the only CM ready for our first game of the season. It would be madness to sell him given a new signing would need time to adapt.
If MA sells some of his academy players, he will risk the wrath of the fan-base !! MLS is progressing greatly from
what I have seen..
When he scored against City and did the lotus thing seems years ago – how can he still only be 19? Imaging him in 4 years, bigger, stronger, more experienced and streetwise on the pitch, still only young at 23!
The danger is not getting game time with Rice, Ode, Bruno, Eze, Merino getting game time, and having to go elsewhere for it. All those other players I mentioned would be in their 30s in 4 years I think.

What I’m saying is ❤️ Skelly so young and talented – played well against PSG in big final – can be better and better in coming years, and would love to see that transformation happen here with us.

I agree with that.
If we did a lesson learned from last season, how we can be stronger at end of long season for the big games, and how to put it right in summer window – it’s exactly this isn’t it!
But what I’m asking you to consider, Bruno is 29 and Skelly 19, in that 10 years players get streetwise in their game and enter their strongest years, provided they get enough game time to develop.
We’ve seem with our graduates coming through, in early 20s they physically change in front our eyes from lads to men. So it’s physical and experience changes.
And starting from how good Skells performance was in that big difficult end of season final, and brave and composed his performances were in those nervy games just before it.
