Just days after Arsenal’s dramatic last-minute hijack of Eberechi Eze from Tottenham Hotspur, the Englishman was unveiled in front of a packed Emirates Stadium before the clash with Leeds.
Gooners watching Eze’s smile as he walked out of the tunnel for his unveiling as Arsenal’s new number 10 would agree it felt like a spiritual homecoming. It is no longer rumour, Eze is a Gunner and has returned to his boyhood club. Social media was soon flooded with good luck messages, and eagle-eyed fans spotted Marc Guehi’s reaction to the transfer.
Guehi reacts to Eze’s Arsenal move
The Crystal Palace skipper posted his support on Instagram (23 August), sharing a photo of the pair celebrating a goal with the caption: “Good luck my brother! Been a pleasure sharing the pitch with you,” followed by praying hands and a heart emoji.
While it may seem like a simple message between friends, some Gooners have been quick to ask if the pair could be reunited at the Emirates.

Arsenal have tracked Guehi for years
Marc Guehi is a long-standing Arsenal target. With his contract at Selhurst Park winding down and Palace open to a sale to avoid losing him for free next summer, the opportunity could be there. According to reports, Liverpool are favourites to land him, but Arsenal must not allow that to happen.
Liverpool’s biggest weakness this season is their defence. If Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté suffer injuries, they will struggle. Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley’s injuries have already left Arne Slot short of options, with all of his right backs sidelined.
Guehi’s versatility, being able to play across the back four, would strengthen Liverpool’s defence considerably. That is exactly why Arsenal should not allow him to bolster a direct rival, especially given their long-standing interest.
Your thoughts welcome in the comments Gooners.

Is Guehi really a “long standing Arsenal target”? He was mentioned a few weeks ago on JA I recall, funnily enough around the time Eze was thought not to be an Arsenal target after all. Who knows?
I’m pretty sure we shouldn’t use bolstering a direct rival as the measure of whether Arsenal should try and buy a player. If we do, then Arsenal may well have to “snap up” Isak as well. Then we’ll know there really is a magic money tree.
I think with the Kiwior situation and the talk of him leaving, I believe that if Arsenal were to bring in another Centre Back as cover, it will be for a player who is willing to be cover.
I think in Guehi’s case, he wouldn’t be willing to do that. So for me it would be a surprise if theirs any truth in this to be fare.
But until Wednesday, I was beginning to believe there was no truth in the Eze story. So as the saying goes, never say never.🤷♂️
Guehi’s likely to share a pitch with Eze in future if he joins any one of the following: Lpool, Man City, Chelsea, Bayern M, Barcelona, Athletico or Real M or even Newcastle. The point here is there’s little more than guesswork we’re doing when trying to figure where the crystal palace defender will be playing. Unless someone here is in closer proximity (to Guehi) than the laptop keyboard keys we use to make these posts :).
I hear he isn’t keen to come to us for game time concerns.
Chances are it’s never going to happen
