Martin Keown needs to make his mind up about Arsenal finishing in Top-Four

The one thing about the Internet is that what you say is recorded for posterity, if you say one thing one day and the next day you say something very different it gets noticed and if you continue to flip flop with your opinions then it is just a matter of time before your opinions are are no longer of value and I fear that will happen to our very own Martin Keown if he is not careful.

Talksport published an article on the 12th with Keown giving his opinion on whether Arsenal will finish top-four, this is what he had to say on the subject

“I don’t think they will [finish in the top four], I think Manchester United will squeeze into that.

“It’s the away form that’s going to cost Arsenal this year, unless Emery can find a way to improve away from home.

“They’ve got to go to Leicester, Watford and Wolves. If Emery can sort out a system that makes Arsenal as effective away from home as they are at home, they end up in the top four and they may well win the Europa League.

“It’s there for him, but he’s got to sort that out.”

So, just a couple of days ago Arsenal will not finish top-four, Man Utd will squeeze into that position claims our former defender.

Now then, after Man Utd win on Saturday you would expect him to maintain that opinion, I mean, United actually won, but nope, not Keown.

‘I think they’re [Manchester United just going to miss out,’ said Keown.

‘Arsenal, you may expect me to say that, but I’ve gone through the fixtures and I just think they’re just too tough for Man Utd ‘When you look at these games they’ve got play City I think that will be a draw I don’t think they can win that one for me it’s not going to happen ’75 points I think they’ll get, same as Arsenal but they’ll finish above on goal difference’

Okie Dokie, so the only thing that happened between those comments is that United actually got three more points.

Keown was a very consistent defender, a bit nutty maybe but a bloody good player for us but as a pundit he leaves a lot to be desired, there is nothing wrong with changing one’s mind, I have all season long but because of circumstances that give a clearer picture, that is not what has happened here.

Martin takes edging your opinions to a whole different level, do not be surprised if on Tuesday he says we will win the Europa League, on Wednesday we will get knocked out and on Thursday back to us winning it.

  1. If Emery uses 3-4-1-2 or 4-1-2-1-2 at away, Arsenal might have bigger chances to win

We can lose one more away game, but only if we win the others

However, I expect a win today because Watford do not have many high profile players, unlike Everton

    1. Our game is tomorrow night gotanidea… I don’t think we can afford to drop anymore points..I’m not overly confident of that happening though

  2. this away stuffs irritate me, we must somehow find a way to break that jinx. beating watford 2mao, draw at naples, then a win at molineux stadium.

  3. Keown changes his mind as we all do on here. We get a home win and we all think we can get top four then we lose away and all think we won’t.
It would help if Emery stuck with a winning team. Ok rotation is sometimes needed but not when we need the points this bad. If he starts with Elneny i’ll Scream. I suppose Mustaphi will play as Sokratis is suspended, again ffs! Otherwise please don’t change anything.

  4. So a pundit half changes his mind. So what? Just because he is our ex -player too! BIG DEAL! He qualified what he first said in any case. And this is worth an article? Oh come on Pat, this is mere space filling as you well know. I SAY TO YOU FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME. FEWER ARTICLES FOR FILLING AND BETTER THOUGHT OUT ONES PLEASE. I will submit one this coming week with some “beef” in the article about fan honesty versus fan dishonesty.

  5. The truth is Martin Keown was a player but is also most definitely a fan. Fans are fickle, hence Martin’s comments.

  6. Jon Fox I absolutely agree with you. But you already know admin needs us to keep coming back, so they will keep pumping out articles. The ones I find outrageous are the transfer rumours. And as you can see less and less people post comments. Happy Sunday Jon Fox, Sue!

    1. Agreed Pat and this uninterest will continue happening with non articles that insult our intelligence. People are generally smart though , confounding thre Admins vain hopes of us showing interest in spurious articles on nothing much at all. He is actually harming the future of his own site but I cannot convince him of this truth and believe me Pat I have tried doing so. Suppose Arsenal had a squad of 300 players and bought five or six new ones, mostly hopeless ones each day but hardly any at all were remotely Prem level! You would soon lose supporters. You see my point I am sure! Every time you constantly dumb down anything the smart ones say “Goodbye”. That is why such trash as the JEREMY KYLE SHOW ONLY ATTRACTS THE NEAR BRAIN DEAD and intelligent folk avoid it like the plague. Same principle!
