Arsenal at risk of losing ace Martinelli for six games in the New Year

Arsenal fans will be disappointed to hear that they’re at risk of losing ace Gabriel Martinelli for up to six games in the New Year as a result of his fine form.

According to Mirror Football, Gabriel Martinelli’s recent call up to Brazil’s Under-23s squad for the upcoming international break could lead to the ace missing up to six games in the New Year.

The 18-year-old has scored five goals in six games across all competitions for the Gunners so far this season. The ace’s contribution in the Europa League has been crucial.

The youngster’s impressive start to life in north London has earned him a call up to Brazil’s Under-23s squad next month.

The potential issue with this is that the nation are likely to include some of their top talents in their squad for next summer’s Olympic Games.

Should he impress next month, he’s likely to be called-up to feature in Brazil’s CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic tournament that runs from January 18 to February 9.

Arsenal have a serious talent on their hands in Martinelli.

Should this happen, Martinelli would miss four Premier League games against Chelsea, Burnley, Sheffield United and Newcastle.

Depending on the Gunners’ progress, he’d also miss the Fourth Round of the FA Cup and possible the Carabao Cup Semi-Finals.

Arsenal’s current woes could lead to the ace being given a chance to start in the Premier League. With the starlet becoming increasingly important to the squad, they can’t afford to lose him at a key stage in the season.

In other news, Arsenal could lose two of their best players if they fail to finish in the top four this season.

Results during the New Year period can make or break a team’s season, it’s vital that the Gunners get points on the board after the packed Christmas period.

With the transfer window open for this period, they’ll be even more eyes on the Gunners.

Brazil’s federation could see an Olympic call-up as the way to win over Martinelli – who is also eligible to play for the Italian national team.

Would it be fair for Arsenal to prevent the ace from playing in the Pre-Olympic tournament? This could impact the ace’s chance of making a run for a gold medal in Tokyo next summer.

  1. Martinelli will miss Europa games, not like Emery has bothered to give him a run of PL matches.

I don’t get why; he scores when he plays, his head, feet, however. He also works his socks off putting in a full shift, yet gets limited game time.

If you’re good enough you’re old enough right?

Emery knows best I guess, he’s the expert on man management. Just ask Neymar, Ozil, Mustafi, and his favorite Xhaka.

  2. If Martinelli continues to be in top form scoring goals for Arsenal as he’s presently in top form and scoring goals for Arsenal especially in the Europa League and in the Carabao Cup competitions, certainly, Arsenal should convince him to turn down his Brazil U23 call up. More so, if Arsenal are still in the ELC and CC competitions playing and his Brazil U23 call up dates clashed with Arsenal match dates in the ELC and CC games. And for this reason Arsenal cannot afford seeing him missing for the club in these 2 important Cup games due to his being called up by Brazil.

But if Martinelli insists to honour his Brazil call up, then maybe Arsenal could in January recall Eddie Nkethia, another Arsenal youth top regular goals scorer from his season long loan to Leeds Utd to replace the could temporary absentee for Arsenal Martinelli. Main While, us will see if Martinelli will leave up to his high billing as a top regular goals notcher in Cup games for Arsenal as Emery I am sure will start him to lead the line for Arsenal away to Liverpool in the big Carabao Cup game clash at Anfield tomorrow. And hopeful, the goals he could score and assisted to be scored in the match will see Arsenal knock out Liverpool to reach the quarterfinals of the competition.

  3. Okay for Martinelli to play for the Brazil under age teams but should carefully consider his options before playing a match for the senior team. Brazil has got a lot of talents and many players who could never have played for Brazil are prospering playing for other countries. Since he also has the option of playing for Italy he should take his time. He may ask Arsenal to do him the “favor” of not releasing for the pre-Olympics tournament lol
