Mbappe basically rules out Arsenal move

Kylian Mbappe is undoubtedly the most highly-rated youngster at the moment. Despite numerous elite clubs said to be interested in acquiring the services of the Monaco forward, it appeared as though Arsenal would also take their shot at landing the player. But unfortunately for Arsenal fans, the Frenchman’s ‘obsession’ with the Champions League will certainly be a roadblock towards any potential move to the Emirates.

Mbappe told Telefoot: “The Champions League is a dream, a competition that everyone wants to win and that only a minority can win – the most important are the titles.

“That would be much more of an obsession for me than the Ballon d’Or, for example. I want to touch the stars and, when you dream, you do not dream of playing the middle of the table or maintaining it.”

Well, despite Wenger seemingly willing to break the bank on the player, it seems as though Arsenal can forget about him now. While there were rumors earlier that Mbappe would consider joining the Gunners to develop further under the guidance of Wenger, the 18-year-old sensation seems to have effectively put those rumors to rest, and you can understand why.

During his first taste of Champions League football, Mbappe was one of the stand-out players for Monaco as the French champions went as far as the semi-finals. The much-coveted youngster scored as many as 6 goals in 9 Champions League matches and his first experience of Europe’s elite football competition has left him hungry for more.

So unfortunately for the Gunners, it looks like ‘the new Henry’ will ply his trade elsewhere. At around £130 million, he was perhaps a little too expensive anyway. However, Alexandre Lacazette stated that a lack of Champions League football would not be a deal-breaker for him and is understood to be available for around £40 million. Let’s just hope Wenger can move quickly and lure the Lyon hitman to the Emirates.

  1. “When you dream you do not dream for playing in the middle of the table or maintaining it”.
Basically Mbappe is saying Wenger has no ambition and that he has no intention for playing for a manager and club who will be fighting in mid table.Fearful times ahead for Arsenal i’m afraid.

    1. What a load of rubbish there from the guy that benned probably multiple times.
Guy, must Arsene see the need to answer every question asked? Is there something in his contract that says he must give an answer to every question? No ambition as you the ignorant plastic fan said eh? I think our football is still pretty good to watch and has the potential to be vintage. How did you get here? Did someone leave your cage open? I’d sl@p you but that will be animal abuse. Telling true fans to stop living in the past, all the while bringing the past to slate Wenger, bunch of hypocrites, very slow and with some caution people are seeing improvement and potential, we are getting better whether you like it or not. We are looking like clicking and its exciting for our fans who haven’t had this feeling for a while, i just struggle to understand why most you dont want us to do well individually and collectively, most of you are the most baffling people on here. You should be proud of Arsene as true fans. Wenger gets discussed quite literally EVERY day, yet you can’t manage to broaden the conversation to encompass all elements of Arsenal fc. That speaks volumes on you, not about anyone able to engage on a wider topic. You’re utterly fixated with Wenger and any discourse that doesn’t explicitly reference Wenger or hold him wholly responsible is met with a backlash of nonsense as seen above. Your input is pathetic. How about you stick to posters who speak your lingo, let others who discuss Arsenal deeper to have that conversation without your anemic commentary. Asour Great Leader Sir Arsene said that the best way to create an identity with the way we play football, to get players integrated into our culture, with our beliefs, our values that we felt it would be an interesting experiment to see players grow together with these qualities, and with a love for the club, it was an idealistic vision of the world of football. If there had been time, we the true fansbelieved in him and confident he would have been as keen on our view of him as a mixture of French flair and passion and German calm and efficiency.

      RESPECT ARSENE.

      1. why so mad Jembut? that was a clear statement and @Back From The Ban expalined it really well. the kid is ready to be on the bench at Madrid than be the main striker at Arsenal when we are fighting for the Wenger trophy and FA cup. we have gone that low, no other explanation

        1. While your all moaners resort to endless whining and biatching all the times nstead of supporting the club you love, then why don’t you go down the lane, maybe you will be relieved there.

      2. It’s so “SAAAAAAD” that Arsene wenger philosophy and Sentiment have blinded you to the Point that you have Failed to realise that the World has moved on from the past football ideas that Players are more happy winning Trophies these days than Playing football like an Academy. You claimed wenger said he wanted to build a team that plays football and is recognised for the way it plays and bla bla bla. Is it when wenger is 100yrs old we will see that in Arsenal? We had a team great in 2005-2006 the team of Hleb, flamini, fabregas and others, yet the steel of the team were sold. At that team I would compare that team to the Present Monaco team. Later we had nasiri, fab ,eduardo, and some other substandard players yet wenger failed to buy players that could move the team forward. He would rather price them and other clubs buy them. There was Mata,Hazard, and many others. Van persi said he was not getting younger and had to leave since the ambition of the club was different from his and he left at 29. Despite that, IF wenger were a wise coach and board also wise, same issue would not be happening with Sanchez, and Oil. Like it or not these two Players make things happen for Arsenal team on the Pitch and if they Leave it’s Still Wenger Failure as Usual. Same issue is also linger for Chamberlain, Wilshere, and some few players who are about to enter or are in their final years of contract. This same shit keeps happening every time. The embarrassing thing is that you don’t hear this happen at Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea nor even the poor Tottenham. Yet thses happen in Arsenal. You leave players till their final year and the put the club to Ransom cos players and their agents these days wanna make cash out of the club. You think the players are too Passionate about the club? Ha! Don’t deceive yourself. Just a very few are. AND LEARN NOT TO USE DIRESPECTFUL WORDS ON PEOPLE WHO WROTE AN ARTICLE HERE. IT’S AN EFFORT WHICH YOU NEVER COULD START. Contract renewal situation is also affecting the Junior Team. A junior team boy “Chris Wilcock” not sure of name spelling is almost leaving arsenal for Man city. Isn’t that a shame if he leaves? You talk of culture and one of our very own junior team player is almost leaving too. Senior players are threatening to leave and same junior team players. This is just an indication that Wenger should leave. Wenger is trying to buy Mpapale for future investment when arsenal needs immediate progress. Morata will cost not less than 65millons yet wenger is going after a teenager who just had a wonderful season? There are established players that will give you results yet wenger is looking for a teenager. Look at Man city who bought silver and an established Keeper, Man U already bought established Defender and are after Morata who is an established footballer and other established footballers. WHAT IS WENGER THINKING? HIS BRAIN IS TOO OLD TO THINK NOW. ALL HE SEES ARE TEENAGERS FOR THE FUTURE. FUTURE THAT WE NEVER SEE. I LOVE MY CLUB BUT WENGER IS DESTROYING IT.

        1. I know Wenger has been criticised this season, but Wenger has got the whole club right. It is profitable, growing, cultured & consistent. This club is the only club in the world that can be sure of success for the next 10 years. Further than that is a matter of good appointment & consistent quality. Wenger has set the club on this path. It is easier to destroy than to create. Buying success is not so difficult. Maintaining quality without continuous investment needs external wealth funding the club. When the money was not there AW built a wonderful young team but saw it decimated by injury and vultures. It took some tough seasons and changes to start over but prudence allowed us to build slowly and know the club is very strong again. How is that possible if Wenger is so flawed? Wenger explains his position most eloquently. Wenger believes his approach to squad building requires greater skill than buying established players, but is not concerned that his rivals in the Barclays Premier League will try to muscle in on his territory. The fact that man utd, Chelsea and later man city were spending hundreds of millions on world class players and arsenal were relying on a bunch of kids and selling off the better players they had then. Perhaps you smoke a lot of great northern Californian pot, and perhaps you drink a lot of great California wine, and perhaps imbibing these things allows you to sit down and watch Arsenal and imagine that what you’re seeing is failures of arsene himself. It’s not. Then a nagging voice starts in the back of your head after all we are talking about Wenger now. A manager THAT WE THE TRUE FANS loved and respected for a long time who now cares everything about arsenal greatness but himself. It looks like your face caught on fire and someone tried to put it out with a hammer. Calm down, kiddo.

          RESPECT ARSENE.

  2. So I said last week that Arsenal should go for Lorenzo Insigne and it wasn’t received well by the Ozilites. I just read that Chelsea are after him if Hazard leaves.
Insigne, Costa and defensive midfielder might be enough to get some of the fans excited.
If Arsenal could some how keep Sanchez then Costa and Sanchez with Insigne just behind them would be as good as any front three in the PL.

    1. Wenger and the board do see as you do bro. All they see is buying teenagers for the future when there are players out there you can get even from the Epl that could move the club further. You can get Costa form Bayern and he can play on the right, similar to Sanchez. Insgne would be fine but Arsenal could have bought him before his renewal. Napoli don’t sell papers cheaper than 70million pounds. He needs someone barkley or a complete midfielder at the middle. Selll Elnenny, Gibs., Jenkinson, debuchy,

  3. There isn’t much attention on Aubameyang this time around, despite playing in a tougher league and proving himself over a longer period of time, why don’t we get him instead?? He certainly won’t cost the £87M+ we offered for Mbappe?

    1. Yes – much better option than Lacazette, who’s performance is far from guaranteed. At least no one has mentioned Lukaku – another over hyped player IMHO.

    1. Spot on … Citeh only paid 27m for Gabriel Jesus, and he is every bit as good as far as I can see. Yes I get frustrated with Wenger’s stinginess, but I just don’t see he is worth 120m. Sane and Jesus together were valued at half that – I just don’t get it – Monaco would be crazy to turn that down, if indeed they did.

  4. Your reading comprehension needs serious reassessment if you can somehow extrapolate these comments to mean that he has effectively ruled Arsenal out of signing him. While Arsenal will be playing in the Europa League this season they are far from a mid table team. I realize your objective is to generate as many hits as possible but, damn!

  5. World class players are valued at 100m and upwards

These days there are no longer 30m or 50m for elite players

We need to pay the market rate to get the quality players

  6. I hope the deal break sooner so Wenger can invest more time in Mahrez, Lemar, closing the deal on Golovin, even Fabregas to cover Cazorla, hopefully tying down Sanchez, Ozil which is the most important

  7. Wenger has started dithering over transfers, just sign lacazette already and stop waiting on mbappe or is it when big boys start fighting over him and then u say, we can’t compete with the big clubs. This man has turned arsenal to a mid table team, mbappe is soo right

  8. This Mbappe is stealing the show of Aubameyang, who months ago still the football hottest commodity. Just look how fast things change! Change? That’s something ain’t work well at Arsenal. With his neck putting on the line for the first time, Arsene doesn’t indicated at all of changing his transfer method. I hope we don’t need 2 years to end his up, if next season fail.

  9. There is an unwillingness – amongst all football fans, but particularly, it appears, among Arsenal fans – to acknowledge that your manager might just know a little bit more about your team than you. As bitter a pill as it may be to swallow, there is a reason Arsene Wenger is paid money to make these decisions. I’m not saying your stupid, I’m just saying you have bad luck when it comes to thinking and I don’t think you are an idiot, but then what’s my opinion against thousands of others? Of course, managers don’t always get it right, but in a profit-making, money-driven industry, the Premier League makes no allowances for consistently poor decision making. Wenger is a shrewd, unfaltering decision-maker. He has built a football club, not a football team, and in doing so he has given Arsenal a philosophy and an identity. This is a man who, prior to managing Arsenal, earned his living by analysing football teams and the type of tactics they employ. He is a true master of the game – wise, thoughtful, ruthless. There aren’t many of those left anymore. Arsenal fans, like all football fans, will always enjoy the peaks and suffer the troughs of their team’s fortunes. That is the nature of football. That is the beauty of football. Calling for Arsene’s head is nothing new, but the supporters need to grasp something that everyone associated with the club has understood for the past 21 years, Arsene Wenger is a genius, and he’s the only man capable of returning the Gunners to their former glory.

Sing with me now, ONE ARSENE WENGER.
