Meet Top Quality DM linked with Arsenal transfer

Well when I say the latest, there have been Arsenal transfer rumours linking us with a move for the Borussia Dortmund and Germany international star Sven Bender before, but those were in previous transfer windows and nothing ever happened, at least not that we know of.

The 26-year old does seem to fit the Wenger and Arsenal mould though. As well as being a very powerful and fit central midfielder, Bender has very good technical ability both in the air and with his feet. And the German media outlet Bild has reported that this quality player is ready to quit his Bundesliga club in the summer.

The report claims that he is currently earning €3 million a year with Dortmund and he believes that he is worth, and can get, more than that elsewhere. With that equating to little more than £40,000 a week in today’s exchange rate, I am sure that he could.

Bild also claim that Arsenal are one of three Premier League clubs that have made contact over the transfer, the others being Liverpool and Southampton, and if that is true then it does back up the theory that Wenger is still looking for a defensive midfielder despite the emergence and form of Francis Coquelin.

However, Sven is a very defensively minded player, highlighted by his five goals in 237 club games, as opposed to the more all round type like Morgan Schneiderlin, so is he really what the Gunners need?
