Mesut Ozil finally gives his reply to all the criticism from Germany

So Arsenal’s German midfielder Mesut Ozil has been having a nightmare summer with the defending World champions, and he himself was racially abused by the Germany fans and was blamed for his country getting knocked out in the Group Stages of the competition.

The German FA (DFB) have demanded that he give an explanation for his actions when being photographed with the Tukish President.

Here is his full explanation…..

I wonder if that will be enough to appease the Germans…..

  1. the germans shoud just shut up and be happy that they have a lot of turkish players in their team.. without i dont think they would have won the WC 2014 like france wouldnt have won this wc without the african players.. and like a lot of arsenal fans the germany fans are just blaming özil because he is an easy target.. lets be honest here the majority of football fans are pathetic analyst’s who dont know how to judge a players influence correctly.. for example giroud wasnt useless in this wc campaign of france.. but the majority will crucify him..

  2. He owes nobody an explanation, but fair play to him for coming out to have his say. Move on Mesut let the rest of the world keep bothering themselves.

And Admin what’s with the whole allowing a kid coming on here and insulting someone and calling names? I’ll not mention this anymore, I’ll just keep calm and always make my comments. All these rubbish began since you opened up this site for every Tom, Dick, and Harry to make comments on, not forgetting the kids.

    1. eddie hoyte i think this site is for all arsenal fans kids or not.

      otherwise go make your own.

you don’t have to insult people who have a greater intellectual capacity.

      read a book mate.

  3. Ozil has just explained himself let the Germany FA make any decisions they like , I want Ozil to retire from Germany National team immediately, what’s a hell are they doing, I am not surprised Germany are Racist. Let them do their worst.

    1. @Joe.. The same racist Germans that have given Turkish defectors refuge in their own country. Millions of Turkish politcal and Economic migrants have been given a place to call home in Germany, Ozil and his family included. The same Germans that have voted for Ozil as their best player 5 years in a row even if some people in and around Europe keep questioning why Germans keep giving Ozil this award.
The same Germans that have welcomed a million Refugees into their country while the likes of the UK and vote Brexit because of it. Other European countries have refused to share these muslim refugees etc..
What a bad racist country Germany is, right?

Stop this emotional and over sensitive attitude that you exhibit evey time Ozil is criticised. People are allowed to have a critical opinion towards Ozil without being labelled as racists, Islamophobes, haters, no knowledge about football etc..
      smh

        1. It is not that simple. Germany is not one entity. Eastern Germany never quite became the progressive Western Germany under Russian influence. (Putin for example was a KGB officer in East Berlin.) Eastern Europe never quite got the individuals have rights message, and “they” think more tribal than what Western Europe developed with individual rights after WWII.

That said, Ozil is correct to move away from the German structure seeking scapegoats. The German football federation should have defended Ozil all the way.

Meeting a foreign leader, one from NATO ally Turkey no less, and Ozil’s ancestral homeland’s leader should not have caused any problems. It would have been strange if Ozil did not connect to his roots.

  4. Sommer to Arsenal is unlikely to happen as of not.Ospina is 100% leaving but Cech is very very likely to stay.
A winger will surely be signed this window but CB relies on if anyone leaves.

  5. Fair play Mesut… not that you should have to explain your actions! Total respect to your Mum for not letting you forget your roots. I hope you quit international football, they don’t deserve you!

    1. Then what happens if he quits international football because he can’t take criticism, then at Arsenal he continues to be a hot and cold inconsistent player like he has been for 5 year, the criticism intensifies from the Media and some of us his critics. Then what does he do about this? Quit Arsenal and football altogether? Then if he does quit football but still gets criticism in his private life, what next? Quit life altogether?

      1. Oh don’t be so stupid…I don’t see why he should put up with all this criticism.. so I hope he does quit the German team. At least playing for Arsenal his fans outweigh the ‘haters’ apart from the few idiots on here

        1. Objective positive criticism is okay, as it should lead to improvement. Although Ozil may be considered politically naive by meeting with Erdogen, a divisive president of Turkey, the criticism of Ozil blaming him for the overall poor performance of the German National team is completely unfair.
There were many German players, whose performances were worse than Ozil, particularly their toothless forward line.
What ever happened to “we win as a team and we lose as a team”?
My hope is that Ozil will react positively in his performances with Arsenal and prove the haters wrong.

    2. Spot on. It’s disgraceful to hunt Ozil as scapegoat for WC failure.

I seen he mentioned that he was regarded German when winning and immigrant when otherwise. I don’t see any German German gets blame for poor performance.

  6. Ozil has a big part to play in our season.. He is not someone that’s going to press alot but i know Emery will improve his awareness and give him a better strategic positioning..to be at the right place to receive a pass, build up an attack from the top or back, give a final ball and drag players to himself to create space for others by being at positions that can hurt the opposition…watch out for mesut ozil this season under Emery..Emery watched him and played against him alot when Ozil was at Real Madrid in the la Lisa.. Emery knows Ozil strengths and weaknesses….oppositions will focus alot on aubameyang, lacazette and our soon to arrive Winger…but Ozil is the man!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. emery a detailed tactician? in Spain he never won against mourimho or pep gardiola, he never won aginst arsene wenger, lost the league in France to a team with vast inferior budget,i asked u again how many players did he improve @ psg? it’s still on record that for 22 years no player left the guidance of wenger and become a better player, when u put together the vast number of players that improved under wenger and became super heroes then u know what super tactician means, don’t have anything against emery but pls stop the hype, the season is 3 weeks away let’s c how it goes!!

      1. Van Bronkhurst left Arsenal and became a lot better player at Barcelona than when here.So too did Nicholas Anelka.Kanu was brilliant at Portsmouth when he left.
Let’s talk about how many players careers went backwards under Wenger shall we?Andre Arshavin. An unbelievably talented player who Wenger ruined.I can’t recall a single defender whose career Wenger improved.
Let’s accept the first 8-9 years he performed far better that he did before he was sacked. And let’s accept that people only get sacked from their jobs when they prove incapable of performing their duties. Why you continue to argue Wenger’s corner all the 5ime I just cannot understand.Remember for all his achievements there are more than enough failures to seriously damage him.

      2. By the time players left Arsenal, they were beyond becoming super heroes. Wenger wasted many players that had potential.

  7. Emery is a detailed tactician….i look at him most times in his interviews,in the training ground..he is really determined,he has no time to play around, he is hardworking and ready to prove a point..he is going to surprise alot of premier league coaches with his intense and detailed tactics and analysis of his oppositions..i just hope the players transmit his ideas unto the pitch and don’t make Emery look like a fool…. but one thing is for sure emery is here to stay and be successful before passing over the touch to Thierry Henry….. I don’t know who is going to win us our first premier league trophy since 2003 and first ever champions league..could it be Emery or Henry??…let’s watch and see….I’m a gunner till I die!!

  8. is germany still talking about this? And still blaming Ozil when their whole squad was a disaster? Wow

    1. The funny thing is despite ozil’s lacklustre performance, he did create goal scoring opportunities. He did his job but those on the end of his passes messed up.

      1. Goals win you games. He should cut down on his over passing and passing on of responsibility and take more shots on goal. Goal scoring is the hardest thing. Do you know how many chances have been created for Ozil by his teammates where he himself keeps wasting them?

  9. I don’t get why they were so offended by that picture. Is Germany at war with Turkey, have the Turks been sending those scum bags who attacked woman all over the country, cowards. Sure the Olympics had Hitler as the face of it one year, less outrage by that. I didn’t realize German people could startle so easily, no wonder they can’t take a joke.

    1. I get what you’re saying but it’s the minority right wing Germans who ‘appear’ to be offended most. His ethnic background has a lot to do with it.

  10. This has gone on too long, a storm in a proverbial teacup! Have the German right wing hammered Lothar Matthaus for posing with Putin? Matthaus had the gall to criticise Ozil and then pose with Putin.

If I was Ozil I would ignore these has-beens like Matthaus and Oliver Bierhoff and get on with his football and concentrate on playing for the club that pays his wages. If he decides not to play for his country again, they will be the poorer for it. And if Emery get get him re-focused again we will be the richer for it.

We should get behind him because he is a class player and then judge him at the end of the season. We should also not forget that he has been playing in a disjointed(I’m being polite) team for the past 5 years and is still the best provider of goals and chances in the EPL over that period.

So COYG let’s get behind our own we’ve taken enough cr*p over the years it’s time to give some back to the hacks and so-called sofa sitting ‘pundits’!!!!!!

    1. Well said Andrew, and Aubameyang could just be the catalyst to bring the best out of Ozil.

      1. ??I would also hope that Unai Emery encourages and pushes Ozil to be more selfish on occasion and drive on goal to take shooting opportunities himself instead of looking to pass. He is an excellent finisher and this will provide more options in attack and put more doubt into the minds of defenses.
Hopefully he will score more goals himself as well as providing assists for Aubameyang, Lacazette, Mhikataryan and Perez.

  11. No need to Explain

Hopefully Emery can get the same performance out of Ozil as Ozil gave in 2015-16 Premier league with 19 assists and 6 goals or better

Ozil and Mkhitaryan passing lots of assists to Aubameyang and Lacazette would be magical

This is the first season in 15 years that we have BOTH top quality up front AND a quality defensive midfielder

    Exciting season ahead

    1. Couldn’t agree more!!! I’ll stick my neck out, Aubameyang to be top scorer in the EPL next season.

  12. Can’t wait for new season… New coach, new tactics & new players…
Gunner in the good & bad times.

  13. I am an Ozil Hater

In regards to the letter, I would say he does not owe the German Politicians any explanation. The criticisms he has received over the early departure of his team from the world cup stems from political organisations within Germany and has nothing to do with the football.

My criticism of Ozil will always stem from what he does for Arsenal on the football pitch as the Top-seeded player at Arsenal (borrowing some tennis jargon), it does not stem for any dislike of the individual OZIL.

    1. The definition of hate is to loathe, detest and to be revolted by……Do you really hate him?

    2. Why are you a HATER? Hating someone that has never done any harm to you or anyone.
You are a CRITIC and not a HATER..
      smh

      1. And we keep going on about ASSIST, if it was on assisting alone we would be top of the league by your calculations, Sue, Ozil should be more than an assist master, he should be one of our top goal scorers, he should be one of the men to rely on when our chips are down.

My expectation of Ozil probably is the problem, its too high.
OOO and yees i cheer when he assist a goal, but i cuss when he cannot shake is marker, i cuss when he does not shoot when the opportunity is there

  14. Ruelando >
See my friend your a typical example the problem most fans are having how can you judge a player if you hate him
Imagine standing in front of a magistrate who hates you ??? your going away for a long time

    1. Could the Ozil Lovers read my last paragraph please and stop being Dramatic. I wonder if i said lady Killer would it mean i kill ladies hahahahahha

        1. Ok for Sue’s sake i will stop writing I am an Ozil hater, I will see if Emery can improve Ozil especially in the goal scoring department, but i will still criticise.

  15. Bravo Mesut Ozil! You show maturity , loyalty, patriotism and humanity and you will do for me, big time, as a man. Impressively stated and you have my admiration, as a human, as well as a sublime footballer(when you are in the mood).

  16. Wilfried Zaha will complete our squad

    Aubameyang
    Zaha Ozil Mkhi
    Torreira Ramsey/Xhaka
    Monreal Koscielny Sokratis Bellerin
    Leno

    1. …interestingly Wilfred Zaha is (i suspect) waiting for us to show interest as its commonly known he is an arsenal fan at heart. Given where we are in the europa league, and stuff, i would welcome a player who’d likely play his heart out for the love (amongst other things) and privilege of wearing the shirt.

  17. By claiming he shares Turkish values and ancestry Ozil has just contravened the mandatory provisions of the Germany constitution on citizenship; he has basically renounced his citizenship by owing allegiance to another country against National interests.I call upon the the president and the ministry of foreign affairs to issue a deportation order against him and or revoke his citizenship after this disgraceful statement and allowing himself to be used as a political symbol of another country

      1. i suspect this was written entirely as a joke, right? particularly as turkish values are for the most part indistinguishable from any other independent nation state. had this been written in the late thirties to mid-fourties then i’d be much more alarmed – its meant as a witty remark

  18. Hate is far to strong to apply to a footballer, especially one who plays for your beloved team. There is nothing wrong with saying, I love Ozil, but saying you hate him is so wrong. You hate someone who has harmed your child not a football player for effs sake. Unless of course he is the one that harmed your kid.

  19. Ozil is my favorite Arsenal player. I only care his performance in an Arsenal jersey. I don`t care about the other stuff. Look forward to watching you Ozil in the coming season.

  20. Nice one from ozil, that’s one less player we have to be worried about distraction and injury during international break. #COYG.
