My Arsenal team to face West Ham – What’s yours?

Arsenal’s opening game of the season is extremely important as we aim to keep our winning momentum going strongly. West Ham have had a disrupted start to the season due to their Europa League commitment’s but the Gunners can not write off any team in this League, no matter how small.

So I am betting that Wenger will be starting with the strongest line-up available to him at the moment, which obviously means starting without Alexis Sanchez who has only just returned to training after his Copa America exploits. In fact Wenger thinks he may not even be ready to play until September. Le Prof said last month: “He will be back on August 3 and it usually takes three weeks to be competitive.

“He will miss certainly the first game of the season but with Alexis, it takes a little bit less.”

Due to visa problems, the Chilean won’t actually arrive back in the UK until today, so he may need even more time to prepare. Maybe he’ll be ready for the Liverpool game? Anyway I digress….

We already know that Jack Wilshere, Matthieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky will definitely be excluded along with Alexis, so from the players we have left I think it will be easy to pick our strongest team.

So, as far as I am concerned, Cech, Bellerin, Monreal and Koscielny are certain to start. I also have the belief that Wenger has given Gabriel a little bit of an extra holiday after being at the Copa America, so Mertesacker is pretty much in there by default. This may change in September…

Coquelin doesn’t even bear mentioning as he will start, but I reckon Cazorla will be alongside. Many people think Ramsey should start there but I reckon Cazorla will start until he gets injured.

Ozil is nailed on to be Number Ten (so I’ve heard), and Ramsey and Walcott will be on the wings, while Giroud will be centre-forward. No-one knows better than Wenger that Giroud needs to be needed or it will all go wrong…

This seems to be the best team as far as I’m concerned. Who disagrees?

Giroud should def start, we need Theo on the wing. I would play Theo on the rw and ox on lw with giroud upfront ozil behind them with lecoq and cazorla in the middle. Back four of debuchy per boss and Monreal with cech in goal obviously

    1. muffdiver says:

im curious to see how wenger beds gabriel into the team this season, i rate him, proper no nonsense defender.
gona be interesting to see how debuchy bellerin goes down

      so bloody happy footballs back

      1. seancali says:

I would be bloody happy if we can get a new DM and striker so we can have competition all around the squad. As far as Gabriel goes I’m certain this is the season which he slowly gets into the first team. He’s a great defender and we paid a good amount of money for the moment I would prefer debuchy over bellerin, bellerin can take over in a year or two.bellerin will get some games but I think debuchy is a better defender

        1. seancali says:

Watching Bayern vs Milan, man Douglas Costa is an outstanding winger. He is simply breathtaking! He was once a target for us, we missed out on one of the best wingers in the world. He’s outstanding

          1. josh37 says:

Ahh I actually watched that game.. Yeah he’s very good. Great vision and pretty electric. He’s 24, only just moved to a big club.
Picture the Ox in three years 😉

        2. Ivan Gazidis says:

Debuchy should be sold. #WarChest #YesterdaysNews

      2. proffetic says:

I rate him too, but what chance does he have? His opening contribution was “that tackle” on Lukaku and his all round game made me sure that he would and should easily replace Per. But the big man is clearly a favourite and just gets picked regardless of how many indifferent perfomances he stumbles through.

  2. chinaka1 says:

I would rather see Mr wenger start with our Wembley starting lineup.

  3. TheRealGunnerSA says:

    Fully agree with u @seancali

  4. Andrew AFC says:

I also agree thats cut the debate short 🙂

OT: Can we please sign Benzema and put all the rumours to rest it’s getting a joke now.

    1. seancali says:

Yes benzema would be the icing on the cake. It would take our squad to the next level. Hope it happens sooner.if we don’t get a WC striker I’m affraid we would be fighting for UCL spot again.

      1. Andrew AFC says:

A world class striker will be signed just for you seancali it might not be Benzema thou.

        1. seancali says:

I don’t mind who it is, as long as we get a WC striker

  5. Andrew AFC says:

From what I have seen in pre season West Ham are going to get hammered.

Prediction Arsenal 4 0 West Ham

    1. jonestown1 says:

Yeah, I don’t think Europa League on Thursday is going to help them much either. Having said that we haven’t had a convincing opening day game for a few seasons now.

      1. Andrew AFC says:

I was going to put 7-0 but that would only work, if we didn’t take our foot of the gas. I might be wrong but GD could really be the factor this season.

    2. Gigi2 says:

      west hammered?

  6. optimisticgooner says:

The same line up as against Chelsea, the only change being debuchy in for Bellerín.

    1. Andrew AFC says:

I think Bellerin extra pace gives us a different dimension so I would keep him in.

      1. optimisticgooner says:

Yes but there’s already enough offence in the team so I wud play debuchy to make sure of a tight defence in d opening game. They will rotate thruout the season I guess.

        1. Andrew AFC says:

Bellerin to start so he could over lap with Theo and Coq and our defence can cope with their attacks.

PS I want us to rip the bottom half of the EPL apart as I said GD could be massive this season.

  7. Andrew AFC says:

Lets play every game like it was the FA Cup final or Charity Shield thats all I ask. GOYG

No Chamberlain in your line up?

    well shit happens

    my line up

    Chamberlain and Gabriel start.

rhino and ram should sit tight on da bench

    what do u think????

oh how Wenger will win the league and cl

    and only if

he signs a DM and St.

    Tins looking constant statically

I see us finishing third this season

    an improved third….

with less than 12 pt behind the winner.

I’m delusioned with d fact DAT Wenger is still the manager. damn it!!!!

  9. Nice pick it would have been. But, with Alexis unavailable, starting all our available attacking trio [Giroud, Walcott & Ox] means, the Sub would be weak from the attackers perspective.

So, i feels it would be better Rambo comes in for Theo at RW while the Ox should be allowed to continue the good work.

Theo should be watching from behind just incase things goes wrong.

    Arsenal 4-0 Westham FT

  11. Andrew AFC says:

We beat Chelsea in the Charity Shield all we need to do is get the season of to fantastic start. Someone said to me once professional sport is 80% in the head and 20% ability. Lets make Chelsea doubt themselves.

  12. Andrew AFC says:

    Our best team
    New CF
    Sanchez Ozil Ox
Coq/Ramsey DM nfa as Flamini has said he will not be leaving
    Nacho Kos BFG Bellerin

    1. andyarsenal05 says:

      No Cazorla?Really?

      1. Andrew AFC says:

I am just looking at pre season did you see how Ramsey played against Lyon. Arsene has got a big headache in team selection I just hope he gets it right.

  13. Mozart7 says:

Rambo is too erratic on the ball damn! Since he wants to play in the middle how on earth will he eliminate Santi??? Theo and Giroud cannot both start, one has to sit to accommodate Rambo

  14. Twig says:

I think Wenger’s main decisions are

Giroud or Ramsey (The Ox and Walcott will start)
    Debuchy or Bellerin
    Cech or Cech ?

  15. No10 says:

It is pointless to play Giroud and Walcott. Akpom is allegedly going to Hull and Welbeck is not ready yet which leaves us with Zero back up.

It also means a striker is coming. Not Benzema as Real confirmed the Frenchman will not be leaving. The interesting news is that Lacazette has fallen out with Lyon’s manager. He clearly does not want to be there and we MUST beat Spurs to his signing.

    1. No10 says:

      League cup team?

  17. Starting Xİ without Cazorla makes No sense to me.

  18. No10 says:

    Ramsey – Ozil -Ox
    Santi – Coquelin
    Monreal – Mert – Kos – Bellerin
CECH (Thank you mr Abramovitch, you have more class than Jose)

  19. Andrew AFC says:

I put Cech on par with Seaman, Bob and Jennings but only time will tell.

  20. Andrew AFC says:

Abramovitch has won everything in the game, could it be he has had enough of his toy and wants Chelsea to stand on their own two feet. Plus he knows that if they want to build a new stadium that will take money. Which puts us in top spot because we did it when the world was in decline. GOYG

  21. Arsenality says:

We are no longer dependent on talisman thus in the absence of Sanchez the boss still face selection problem.Assuming Wenger’s position I would relish this squad-Cech
    Walcott, Ozil, Chamberlain

  22. Dennis says:

Walcott as CF is a MUST!
    Bellerin instead of debuchy
Ozil on the left until sanchez is back, ramsay through the middle.
