Arsenal signed Illan Meslier this summer as a free agent after he ran down his deal at Leeds United, and the goalkeeper could leave the club again in the same summer.
The Gunners have not sold or loaned out Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer, which means Meslier will have to be the third choice unless he proves to be better than the former Chelsea man. In an interesting twist to his arrival, he is now being linked with a move away from the Emirates as the transfer window draws to a close.
Meslier faces uncertain Arsenal future
The Frenchman has not played a competitive game for the Gunners, yet he is being linked with a summer exit from the Emirates. As reported by Sport Witness, Olympique Marseille would love to sign him.
The Ligue 1 side is looking for a new goalkeeper and has been on the market in search of talent to sign, with Meslier now one of the players they would like to add to their squad. Their interest could provide the goalkeeper with an opportunity to secure regular football elsewhere.
The 26-year-old could spend the entire season either on the bench or out of the Arsenal squad, as has been the case so far. A move to OM could therefore appeal to him, particularly if he believes his chances of playing regularly at Arsenal are limited.
Marseille monitor Meslier situation
The report says the move is one to keep an eye on during the final days of the transfer window because it could develop quickly and Meslier might leave.
His situation is particularly interesting given that he only joined Arsenal this summer. The goalkeeper arrived as a free agent after leaving Leeds United, but the presence of Kepa means he faces a difficult route to regular first-team football.
Meslier will now have to consider whether remaining at Arsenal and competing for his place is the best option or whether a move to Marseille would provide him with a better opportunity to play. The French club’s search for a goalkeeper could give him a route out of North London.
For Arsenal, any potential departure would mean losing a player who has not yet featured competitively for the club. With the transfer window nearing its conclusion, the situation could develop quickly if Marseille decide to push ahead with their interest.
Meslier’s Arsenal stay could therefore prove remarkably brief, with his future now one to monitor in the final days of the window.

Ateta needs to get rid of his Nasty Spanish bias Kepa is obviously not good enough he got rid of a better goal keep for way less mistakes yet he has kept him around sell Kepa and keep Meslier..
If we have an injury to Raya, god help us. 2nd and 3rd keepers are a walking disaster.
Yeah, we really should have done something already if Kepa isn’t going to be up to the task even if it cost a couple quid.
Well I’d imagine that we might actually get a fee for a player for a change, being as he is under contract. Unless we rip it up of course, which is common place at our club it would seem.
But if he does leave us, I’d just like to thank him for all his superb performances and thank him for the memories we all shared with him as fans. 🤦♂️😂😉

Yes I remember that to, we swapped him for a certain Kenny Sampson. That didn’t turn out badly did it. 👍
