New injury could have massive implications for Jack Wilshere

It looks we were all being premature about Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere being England’s saviour for the World Cup, even though we were all excited about him getting his first call up to the national team for two years. But now, as always happens when Jack gets his England chance, he has gone down with another knee injury.

I’ve never heard of the latest problem that he has gone down with, but this is how the Mail reported it: Wilshere was hoping to win his first cap since Euro 2016 during the double header but did not travel to Amsterdam for Friday’s 1-0 defeat of the Dutch having succumbed to a bout of tendinopathy in his knee.

Southgate initially described the decision as precautionary and suggested the Arsenal midfielder had a chance to featuring against the Azzurri at Wembley on Tuesday, though that has now been ruled out.

Tendinopathy? Do they invent new injuries just for Jack? I’ve just had a check on google and tendonipathy is appararently a chronic case of tendonitis, which can take ages to fix and will involve a lot of rest. But whatever it is, this could be a huge problem for Wilshere is he is not fit enough to play in England’s last two friendlies before the trip to Russia. How will Southgate pick him if he doesn’t actually see him play with his England team-mates? I just seriously hope that he recovers quickly and can show Southgate what he can do for Arsenal until the next friendlies. If it is worse than we think, it will also affect his contract talks with all the interested parties….

  1. I hope the poor Wilshere accepts Arsenal’s last contract offer, otherwise Elneny, Xhaka, Willock or Fekir is ready to replace him

Arsenal already have abundant players that like to hog the ball in the center (like Ramsey, Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Iwobi, etc), so losing Wilshere would not be a big blow

His space and salary could be allocated for an explosive winger when he leaves

  2. And this is the exact reason why Arsenal have only offered a pay decrease, incentive based contract.

    1. Wilsheres sad injury case is such a long term problem. I have been , until VERY recently , in two minds about keeping Jack , which would mean not insulting him with a pay cut, esp when the brilliant but workshy Ozil has his own grotesque pay rise. But I have very reluctantly come to the conclusion that we are better off without him. It is a fact, not an opinion , that in his Arsenal career to date, averaged over his career time and compared to games actually played, his wages per game , (which is what actually counts, to us) have been monstrously more than the value we have had in return. He is now 26, has lost that early years surge of speed past opponents and we must be realistic about his future. He is NOT ever going to become the player we all hoped and expected. Though we messed up his contract so that he has only months left and is therefore of little -or any- financial sale value, we are , thanks to stupid Wenger, where we are and the new manager will not want an almost permanent sicknote player on his staff. He should be allowed to leave this summer, even though it deeply saddens many of us. We must, unlike Wenger, face facts.

  3. If Wilshere can’t accept a paycut,he is free to leave. We have so many mediocre players in the team already.
All in all, the most important thing is to oust Wenger.

    1. I desagree regarding JW being ordenery he is not he is a weary special player but injury players on his mind and he canot shake it off so soon it takes a long time for injuries forgotten, as for salary even with a salary reduction he will still earn more then most Totenham players so he should shut up and if he becomes injury free and players like he realy can then I’m sure Arsenal will top his wages

  4. I can’t understand why you guys rate him highly. Is it because of that game against Barcelona, come on wake up he has really regress drastically.Ok go and check his goals and assists stats compared to minutes played. His game is not mature and he has a long way to go.
Well Wenger has changed the mentality of some of us.

      1. I know what your saying but when I watch him often his movements of the ball is awesome and if he can shake of the injury demons he will be our Gerard or Lampard and not forgetting he has a powerful kick on him as well

  5. About Diaby v.2.0
Feel sorry for Jack. God gift him a beautiful mind of football but with the wrong pair of foot.

  6. i dont understand why fans are criticising the reduced salary contract arsenal gave him. It actually shows that our club is becoming more pragmatic and considering his well-known injury record it is the correct decision for the club.
As much i would like wilshere to overcome his injury demons and get back to his best level, we cannot be easy on him. Plus i’m pretty sure his contract has bonuses like number of appearance and success on the field to boost his salary. if he cant accept that then show him the door.

  7. jack has never been fit, thats why arsenal is reluctant to give him a new contract, due to his incosistency.
