Nico Williams has continued to attract attention from Arsenal, with his contribution to Spain’s winning goal in the World Cup final among the moments that have strengthened the Gunners’ interest in signing him.

The winger has been in excellent form for Athletic Club, and Arsenal increased their efforts to bring him to the club after he won Euro 2024. The Gunners wanted to ensure they had some of the best players in Europe within their squad, and Williams was viewed as a potential addition.

Arsenal maintain interest in Williams

Williams could have become one of Arsenal’s key players, but he decided to remain with the club that developed him. Despite that decision, Arsenal have continued to monitor his situation and would be ready to explore a move if an opportunity becomes available.

After winning the World Cup with Spain this summer, Williams remains a player admired by several clubs. Arsenal have also lost Leandro Trossard, increasing their desire to strengthen their attacking options with a player of Williams’ quality.

The Gunners would welcome the chance to add Williams to their squad, but the winger has not opened the door to a transfer. His current situation means any potential move remains uncertain.

Agent responds to transfer speculation

Williams’ agent, Félix Tainta, has now addressed the rumours linking the player with a switch to Arsenal. According to Sport, Tainta offered a cautious response when asked about the speculation surrounding his client.

He said:

“Now, calm. We need to be relaxed, let him enjoy himself, let him disconnect from football. What’s meant to be will be. Calm and tranquillity.”

The comments suggest that Williams and his representatives are not rushing into making decisions about his future. Instead, they appear focused on allowing the player to enjoy his current achievements.

Arsenal will continue to remain attentive to developments surrounding Williams, but his agent’s response indicates that there is no immediate indication of a transfer. The Gunners may have to wait for a suitable opportunity if they hope to bring the talented winger to their squad.

    1. Right exactly. Williams would either be an addition, or a Martinelli replacement.

I think Berta has 2-3 other elite targets that are of higher interest (Alvarez, Barcola, Diomande).

  1. We missed Manzambi, the Swiss revelation who could have completed the Arsenal midfield like a glove. That’s a pity.
He could complete Rice by being more offensive.
I hope Arsenal get Kroupi and Alvarez, the first is my personal favourite if we have to choose.
But get both and Arsenal have a strong frire power.

    1. Alex Scott and Bruno Guimaraes are believed to be the two prime targets. Both would be excellent additions and give us an extremely strong midfield.

  2. I am disappointed that Garnacho has signed for Villa.
Would have been the natural Arsenal panic buy from Chelsea.

    1. Those days are over.

Edu was the guy behind all the panic buys in recent years (Willian, Sterling, Jorginho, Luiz).

After Berta came in last season the only Chelsea players we’ve acquired have been bought by mid-July to fill specific holes (Kepa, Noni).

  3. Arsenal are the champions, we don’t need to panic, we are calm… Chelsea are just known to throw money around and simply get nowhere with it. Like they did last season and didn’t even get European football 🤣🤣🤣.

  4. I couldn’t care less if Nico William’s agent broke wind, let alone his silence lol.

  5. William’s isn’t so bad, but we’ve just spent £34 million on Tzoliis so that position is filled, unless Martinelli is getting sold.
