Official Arsenal line up to face Eintracht Frankfurt and live stream update

The first Arsenal game in this seasons Europa League kicks off this evening against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Commerzbank-Arena and as expected Unai Emery has gone with a mixed line-up.

This is really a must not lose game for Emery following the second-half capitulation against Watford last weekend, he cannot afford for another abject performance from his players.

The most eagerly awaited part of the line up was whether we would see a return for Rob Holding or Calum Chambers at the centre of defence, well this is the official line up.

So, no place for Holding, not even on the bench, however, there is a return for Mustafi and Chambers. There is also no starting spot for Pepe.

I suspect feelings will be mixed with regards to this team.

The game is live in the UK on pay-tv channel BT Sport and kicks off at 17.55 UK time.

Links will be put in the comments where to watch the game live and free so keep checking in.

Also, if you go to the official Arsenal website you will be able to get live commentary text.

        1. I know Sue lol. It’s asking a lot from Mustafi, Xhaka and Luiz ????
Those 3 worries me a lot too, especially in the same match

We need to keep our fingers and toes crossed ?

          1. Zaka has been really good, Smith-rowe soso, Willock been good, lets hope senior players see the spirit the academy kids got,

        2. Whatever it takes to get rid of this joker of a manager … we fell well behind European elite under the baguette … now it’s just free fall

    1. Mustafi has been observing Luiz’s and Sokratis’ mistakes. I believe he has learned a lot from their and his blunders

However, Xhaka needs to be benched to study his colleagues’ errors. If he keeps starting, he will never be able to see the game from different perspective

      1. My only surprise is the absence of Rob Holding and Nicolas PEP who still need to play more games. Xaka by statistic is the best passer of the ball we have in recent games I think we need him for the game since Ozik and Cebalos are not starting.
I am positive Arsenal will not lose even if we don’t win. Mustafi usually do well in this kind if games.

    2. For the records David Luiz is known to perform well outside English premier league. Most European teams are not as physical and fast pace like English football. They will do well and you will be wrong ?. My only surprise is the absence of Rob Holding and Nicolas PEP who still need to play more games.

  1. Let’s be positive, it will at least be a draw and the youngsters will shine and show up their more senior coleagues.

  2. It’s a good idea to split the squad

I’m really excited to see Saka play, as long as he plays as an LW in this 4-2-3-1 formation

      1. He is not skillful enough to be a good inverted RW, bro

Pepe is supposed to fill that role, but his right leg is just too inept

  3. Very interesting that Emery is starting Saka and Smith Rowe. Quite gutsy imo and risky.

    The defensive line looks weak.
Not sure how Chambers will handle RB. Unsure if Luiz will have a good game or disaster. I hope Mustafi has a rare good match

I think Mustafi, Xhaka in same match worries me a lot. Luiz too if he makes mistakes. That cb pairing is very dodgy

    I’m still predicting a win

      1. Sue my heart is already a notch high! I fear what happens to my hand next I’ll keep of sitting next to the wall for now. I had told myself won’t watch the game but then whatever drags me!! These love for arsenal sue I guess am just stuck in there off to watch the game…

    1. Chambers began as a RB and will do just fine. I mean, he’s a bit crap going forward but for an away game he might be a wise choice as he’s better defesively than AMN.

    1. I believe so, as what agent Cech did to us in EL final

Arsenal never learned from Gallas and Cech purchases

    1. Not sure how Eintracht play Martin but if they have speedy skilful wingers I’d agree with you.

Chambers has been found out at RB before and Kolasinac is useless at defending… oh and attacking. The pass back king should be renamed Kopasitbac.

Hope the keeper has a good game, along with the youngsters. If Saka has the confidence to play as he does for the youth teams I think he’ll be ok.

OK, better get the coffee on, this game kicks off at 12.55 Friday morning where I live.

  4. Interesting line up. Nice to see ESR and Saka in the starting line up. Hope they have a very good game.

Xhaka, Luiz and Mustafi in the same starting line up is hardly comforting. I am not sure I will have any more nails to bite by the time the match starts.

    1. I use hesgoal and chanfeed who are both fairly reliable. Sorry I can’t give you a direct link but it wouldn’t go through JustArsenal’s security. Look out for Admin’s links.

      1. this is like a joke luiz xaka and mustafi in the lineup lol I guess the show will be at our backline tonight keeping my gingers and toes crosses lol

  5. Xhaka is obviously considered indespensible by Emery as he was by Wenger.Clearly those of us who do not rate him must be lacking in appreciation of what makes a good midfielder, but for the love of me, I can’t think of any strength he possesses which would make me play him.I guess I must be losing the plot?

  6. Why did holdings travel if he doesn’t even make the team? I kinda dislike and doubt his coaching ability. Muatafi , Luiz , Kolasinac and xhaka in one team..

Please who know of a good blood pressure control pill? I need one to see this game.

  7. Luiz Mustafi partnership, Chambers at right back, 3 in midfield not long out of school.. Xhaka! what could go wrong ? Emery the gift that keeps on giving ?

    1. You are going to sound like a fool if we win.

I have the same issues but I’m willing to see what happens

      Youngsters can play well sometimes
Chambers played RB for Southampton so he has experience there
Luiz and Mustafi have had some good matches

Let’s see what happens. Don’t be quick to judge

  8. Mustafi, Luiz and Xhaka !……………….The Devils Triangle, also known as the Bermuda Triangle……………………….I hoping they somehow internally fold and get sucked up into their own rectums never to be seen again in this dimension again !……………in another dimension they are rogered by pirates, their parrots and eight knobbed octopussies !…………………..meanwhile in this dimension it is coincidently International Talk Like a Pirate Day and thats the truth Arrrrrrrrrrr !

  9. Lol @Le Coq.. Nice one.

This game the attack, excites me..
    The midfield, cools me..
    The defense, frightens me..

    E. Martinez, Chambers, Mustafi, Torreira, Smith, Saka should win us this game.

  10. That’s the stuff, away goal, now let’s see if Luiz and Mustafi can become the CB pairing we all hope to see???

  11. I liked to see Saka and Smith-Rowe tried hard to get past Frankfurt’s fullbacks

Willock gave a physical presence in the front

  12. The space they are giving us at the back, great chance to get Pépé up and running.

Also Ceballos would rip them apart.

Given how the game is going, last 20 each.

But again, can the defence give us a platform.

  13. This isnt a dump on Emery response
but I found it quite unsettling that
since Arsenal’s impresssive EL win @
    Napoli last spring the Spanish
gaffer is culpable for the following
    run of results…

    Wins: 5

    Valencia 2X
    Burnley 2X
    Newcastle

    Ties: 3

    Brighton
    Watford
    Spuds

    Losses: 6

    Chelsea
    Pool
    Wolves
    Everton
    Leicester City
    Crystal Palace

Considering Pool imho is the only
team that is currently far superior
to Arsenal is 5-5-2 good enough for
    Emery to keep his job?

A loss to Manure and I think its time
for Freddie ball @ the Emirates.

  14. Not a bad performance! Away games are always tough and it’s normal to get touched a bit at the back. So far so good, the defence has held. Now rest Aubameyang..we need him to have fresh legs for Aston Villa. I think we will take all the points with us.

  15. If this isn’t a wakeup call for Reiss Nelson, I don’t know what will be. This is how you take your chances!! You don’t get many and can’t be afraid to make mistakes. No risk, no reward. Well done to the youngsters today!

  16. Arsenal is often referred to as an English football club which couldn`t be further from the truth. It is owned by an American, managed by a Spaniard plays in a stadium with an Arabic name employs few if any English players since the beginning of the 21st century. One saving grace is it lives in London which at my last checking was still in England, (or is that UK now?) Ah! well.
