Official Arsenal team and preview of Newcastle away

One game to go for Arsenal before the international break and today´s away game with Newcastle United gives Arsene Wenger and the Gunners the perfect opportunity to continue our great form this year, with just two defeats and 13 wins from 15 games in all competitions since the start of 2015.

If we could have hand picked a team to play today it might well have been the injury and suspension hit out of form Magpies but we said that about Monaco in the Champions League as well so hopefully the players will have learned a valuable lesson and will not mess this one up.

Arsene Wenger has shuffled his pack a bit but the one change that many people had expected, resting the tired looking Alexis Sanchez, has not happened. Mesut Ozil has been dropped to the bench with Cazorla coming forward and Ramsey starting in the middle.

Hector Bellerin has also been given a rest with Chambers coming in and Gabriel has replaced Mertesacker at the centre of defence. Danny Welbeck keeps his place after his good games against Monaco and his former club Man United, while the in form Giroud will lead the line for the Gunners.

Chambers, Gabriel, Koscielny, Monreal
Ramsey, Coquelin
Welbeck, Cazorla, Alexis

subs: Szczesny, Gibbs, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Flamini, Rosicky, Walcott

For the SECOND time, we will be using a new IN PLAY phone app for Android or Apple for the Arsenal fans to interact on Matchday, and this game should be a lot better as we now know how to use it!. Everyone can download the app on this link, and then join the Fan Club called Just Arsenal News. If you are asked for a code to join our Just Arsenal” Fan Club
it is 1942M.

Once you have joined you will see a small eye on top right (This is called DISCOVERY) then hit the search button at the top and enter ‘Arsenal Game chat’ or the code for the MatchDay chat which is NKXQQ and I will approve you as a member. We got over 200 fans registered last weekend, so hopefully we can all get interacting during the match. All those who registered last week DO NOT need to re-register. Everyone get registered and we can start chatting just before the game. Come on you Gooners!

Defence looks a bit inexperienced on right side so let’s see … And lack of creativity in middle means Sanchez and carzola have to step up today and create for front two …. Given newcastles recent performance it should be comfortable …. But when has It ever been?

The other day I was watching highlights of last season when Giroud would miss shot after shot. He has improved immensely on his finishing this season. Credit where it’s due

  19. fullmetalalc says:

Giroud in Ronaldoesque form!! 2-0. I read somewhere his goals per minute ratio is 108 before this game in the season! Go Olivier!! One of the most improved player this season for me.

  36. RSH says:

Strange half from Ramsey…. Giroud should have his hat trick by now, He’s getting into Great positions… Chambers still scaring me and not marking Perez well enough. Would like a third goal to have a nice cushion

    1. Justsoccerfan says:

Yes but they got Ramsey to help them defend.

      1. RSH says:

I mean… I’m not going to get mad at someone for trying to score but he just needs to be more

      2. RSH says:

        Aware (stupid iPhone…)

        1. Justsoccerfan says:

Yes I appreciate Ramsey energy and enthusiastic but just a bit piss off

        2. juhislihis says:

We absolutely require a third one. Otherwise this game will follow the usual formula: score 2, concede 1, bite your nails for the rest of the match. And I don’t want that.

          1. juhislihis says:

            What did I tell ya.

  37. fred cowardly says:

    Chambers better in cb position.
I think we should keep Jenkison next season

  38. WembleyMay71 says:

OT: Arsenal now down to two goalkeepers with Emiliano Martinez sent out on loan to Rotherham until the end of the season.

    1. GoonAR says:

  39. GoonAR says:

Keep it up Gooners! I swear every time someone has the ball on the left wing I hold my breath waiting for Chambers to let him by.

  40. ArseOverTit says:

    Ramsey to score next.

    1. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

He needs to get out the way when Giroud is there

      1. ArseOverTit says:

I agree! But his sniffing around for his chance to score.

At least he wants the ball and to make things happen. He will come good.

Why do Arsenal do this to themselves ?

  49. bayjerkoff says:

    Spus just conceded an equalizer….#prayforarsenal#

  50. Justsoccerfan says:

This is the time, the manager need to do his job

  51. capricorn57 says:

I hope this isn’t going to be a case of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Feeling very uneasy.

  52. Mesut O-healed says:

    woooo that was a handball

    1. juhislihis says:

Hand ball and a chance for Gouffran. How pathetic have we been in the last 15 minutes?

awful. we need to get our heads on straight

  53. Bigvalbowski says:

Outworked and outplayed by a shitty, injury plagued squad.

    Welo done

  54. WembleyMay71 says:

Ospina shows why he’s number 1.
    Great save, denying their equaliser.

    1. Justsoccerfan says:

  61. Mick The Gooner says:

Of all the people, Flamini? Ugh…

  62. Bigvalbowski says:

Coquelin has been as bad in 2nd as he was good in the 1st. Lol

    1. RSH says:

Agree. Don’t know what’s happening but we’ve completely lost control of this game

  63. moneytalks says:

We are so poor in 2nd half.

  64. gunnerman8701 says:

I want Welbeck subbed. He makes good runs but no outcome. We need to calm our nerves and remember that we are playing away from home. Maybe bring in Walcott for counter attack.

  65. capricorn57 says:

Come on Arsenal. Pull your socks up!

  66. Mesut O-healed says:

how many times have we’ve been nutmegged?

    1. jt says:

hahaha newcastle were starting to look like brazil out there

  67. Dennis says:

I can’t believe what i am watching. The arsenal players have completely given up!!

Wenger is just sitting down not yelling at them, or making any sort of adjustments at all.

  68. Mick The Gooner says:

We need a spell of possession.

  69. Justsoccerfan says:

Those with weak heart pls take you pill

    1. vince says:

      seriously? sorry but…. ur daft

  74. Bigvalbowski says:

All three starters in midfield have been atrocious,

Anybody still think Ozil isn’t the best #10

  75. what are these bunch of useless players thinking? they have the potential but they just sleeping!!! play the game

  76. Mesut O-healed says:

  77. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

Two goals missed…Ramsey in Giroud’s way
One big ass miss by Wellbeck.

Gabriel is a real defender. Le Coq is the Boss

    1. GOONSTER says:

The Coq was terrible in the second half, he just kept giving the ball away at every opportunity. But I will let him off, he has been amazing for us, some times you get bad games..

  78. NY_Gunner says:

    1. vince says:

called momentum swing. battling team. we stuck it out. if this was chelsea everyone wld be saying how it was a good victory

  79. moneytalks says:

Everyone was poor in 2nd half.

  80. WembleyMay71 says:

    MOTM should go to either
    Koss, Os or Coq.

    The rest pretty average today.

    1. bayjerkoff says:

Giroud scored 2, even our fans can’t appreciate dis guy

      1. WembleyMay71 says:

You might want to read my comment above on Giroud before determining my lack of appreciation of Giroud.
While he did great in the first half, had it not been for Koss, Ospina and Coq saving our hide in the second half, we would have been looking at a draw, if not a loss.
We were outplayed by Newcastle in the second half.

        1. GOONSTER says:

@But Giroud scored the 2 goals, What’s your point? Did you expect him to score 8 goals?? He hardly got any service in the second half as our midfield was nonexistent.

  81. Dennis says:

Ramsay/flamini/chambers/welbeck do NOT belong in a top 4 team. sell them now

  82. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

Give Newcastle some credit. They put everything in 45 minutes. They played with heart and soul.

    1. Justsoccerfan says:

      We make them look good

  83. Justsoccerfan says:

    Motm Giroud and ospina.

  84. moneytalks says:

    Can we sign Harry Kane?

    1. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

      Slap yourself TWICE

  85. Ronny331 says:

Thank god that rubbish is over and we survived with 3 points. A day at the office to forget!!

  86. nomad says:

    1. ArseOverTit says:

is this AW’s hybrid mutant striker who can’t control the ball but wants £100K a week?

      1. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

Auto-correct? English not first language? His tone is more annoying than language.

  87. ArseOverTit says:

    3 points – good
    Performance – not good

    G-Rudeboy MOTM
OOOOOOOOOOOSPINA saved us. Glad Schez wasn’t between the sticks or it would have been a draw.
