Official Arsenal team and preview of Newcastle away

One game to go for Arsenal before the international break and today´s away game with Newcastle United gives Arsene Wenger and the Gunners the perfect opportunity to continue our great form this year, with just two defeats and 13 wins from 15 games in all competitions since the start of 2015.

If we could have hand picked a team to play today it might well have been the injury and suspension hit out of form Magpies but we said that about Monaco in the Champions League as well so hopefully the players will have learned a valuable lesson and will not mess this one up.

Arsene Wenger has shuffled his pack a bit but the one change that many people had expected, resting the tired looking Alexis Sanchez, has not happened. Mesut Ozil has been dropped to the bench with Cazorla coming forward and Ramsey starting in the middle.

Hector Bellerin has also been given a rest with Chambers coming in and Gabriel has replaced Mertesacker at the centre of defence. Danny Welbeck keeps his place after his good games against Monaco and his former club Man United, while the in form Giroud will lead the line for the Gunners.

Ospina
Chambers, Gabriel, Koscielny, Monreal
Ramsey, Coquelin
Welbeck, Cazorla, Alexis
Giroud

subs: Szczesny, Gibbs, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Flamini, Rosicky, Walcott

  1. I see a win comin outta this afternoon,
On the Walcott topic, He don’t deserve more than 100grand, Da faq!?

  2. I want to see this side against liverpool

    Ospina
    Bellerin, gabriel, boss, nacho
    Coquelin
    Ox, sanchez, cazorla, welbeck
    Giroud

  3. Mesut Özil not even on the bench? Anything wrong?
Excited to see more of Gabriel. COYG. Let’s get this done.

  4. Defence looks a bit inexperienced on right side so let’s see … And lack of creativity in middle means Sanchez and carzola have to step up today and create for front two …. Given newcastles recent performance it should be comfortable …. But when has It ever been?

  5. Good lineup. No complaints

    Ospina is our no. 1
Bit worried about Chambers at rb but hopefully should be fine.

Happy with Gabriel and Koscielny at CB. Happy with Monreal at LB.

    Back of Midfield is perfect
Front of Midfield is good. Will be interesting to see how Alexis performs today.
Giroud is our best striker and hopefully should score.

  6. The other day I was watching highlights of last season when Giroud would miss shot after shot. He has improved immensely on his finishing this season. Credit where it’s due

  7. Giroud in Ronaldoesque form!! 2-0. I read somewhere his goals per minute ratio is 108 before this game in the season! Go Olivier!! One of the most improved player this season for me.

  8. Yes Giroud did in excellent form this season. Keep it up, you are going in WC form lately.

  9. found the match in shanghai, lucky! 2 yrs ago I was not in girouds camp, kudos to wenger for seeing what i did not think was there, hatrick time

  10. Strange half from Ramsey…. Giroud should have his hat trick by now, He’s getting into Great positions… Chambers still scaring me and not marking Perez well enough. Would like a third goal to have a nice cushion

        1. We absolutely require a third one. Otherwise this game will follow the usual formula: score 2, concede 1, bite your nails for the rest of the match. And I don’t want that.

  11. OT: Arsenal now down to two goalkeepers with Emiliano Martinez sent out on loan to Rotherham until the end of the season.

  12. Keep it up Gooners! I swear every time someone has the ball on the left wing I hold my breath waiting for Chambers to let him by.

      1. I agree! But his sniffing around for his chance to score.

At least he wants the ball and to make things happen. He will come good.

  13. Great goal by Sissoko. We need to get back into this game.

Ospina really angry at the goal.

  14. I hope this isn’t going to be a case of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Feeling very uneasy.

  15. why arsenal?? why do you always play this poorly.in second halves?! you never learn..i think the coach should introduce rosicky at once…NOT FLAMINI….WENGER IS SHIT

  16. I want Welbeck subbed. He makes good runs but no outcome. We need to calm our nerves and remember that we are playing away from home. Maybe bring in Walcott for counter attack.

  17. I can’t believe what i am watching. The arsenal players have completely given up!!

Wenger is just sitting down not yelling at them, or making any sort of adjustments at all.

  18. All three starters in midfield have been atrocious,

Anybody still think Ozil isn’t the best #10

  19. Two goals missed…Ramsey in Giroud’s way
One big ass miss by Wellbeck.

Gabriel is a real defender. Le Coq is the Boss

    1. The Coq was terrible in the second half, he just kept giving the ball away at every opportunity. But I will let him off, he has been amazing for us, some times you get bad games..

    1. called momentum swing. battling team. we stuck it out. if this was chelsea everyone wld be saying how it was a good victory

      1. You might want to read my comment above on Giroud before determining my lack of appreciation of Giroud.
While he did great in the first half, had it not been for Koss, Ospina and Coq saving our hide in the second half, we would have been looking at a draw, if not a loss.
We were outplayed by Newcastle in the second half.

        1. @But Giroud scored the 2 goals, What’s your point? Did you expect him to score 8 goals?? He hardly got any service in the second half as our midfield was nonexistent.

  20. Give Newcastle some credit. They put everything in 45 minutes. They played with heart and soul.

  21. Thank god that rubbish is over and we survived with 3 points. A day at the office to forget!!

  22. I MISS WELLCOT. NO PACE WITHOUT HIM. ALOT OF PLASTIC FANS WILL REALIZE HOW IMPORTANT HE IS WHEN HE LEAVE ARSENAL. BY THE WAY ACCORDING MY SOURCES, THE REASON BEHIND HIS ABSENCE FROM THE FIRST TEAM IS TO DO WITH STALLING CONTRACT TALKS. ACCORDING TO A SOURCE THAT HAS CLOSE TIES WITH ARSENAL, THE STALLING HAS GOT NITHING TO DO WITH MONEY.

    1. “WELCOTT”!?

is this AW’s hybrid mutant striker who can’t control the ball but wants £100K a week?

  23. 3 points – good
    Performance – not good

    G-Rudeboy MOTM
OOOOOOOOOOOSPINA saved us. Glad Schez wasn’t between the sticks or it would have been a draw.
