OFFICIAL Arsenal team and preview of Watford away – NO Alexis!!

It is vital for Arsenal to carry on where we left off before the latest international break and I am sure that Arsene Wenger will have been making that point as often as possible to the Arsenal players. The boss and the lads will have been heartened with the perfect result of a draw between two of our main Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United earlier but they now have to make it count.

Wenger has had the boost of getting a few players back from the treatment room but has also lost one of his first choice defenders after Mustafi did his hamstring playing for Germany, and with some of the Arsenal stars coming back late or in a poor state of mind after their World Cup hopes were dashed this was always going to be a tough selection job for the Frenchman.

Cech
Koscielny, Mertesacker, Monreal
Bellerin, Xhaka, Elneny, Kolasinac
Iwobi, Lacazette, Welbeck

subs: Ospina, Holding, Coquelin, Ozil, Wilshere, Walcott, Giroud.

So Wenger clearly feels that the failure of Wales and Chile to qualify for Russia has had a negative effect as neither Ramsey or Alexis Sanchez is in the squad never mind the starting XI. The good news is that Kolasinac is better after his hip problem so Arsenal can stick with the same sort of system.

What do you think of the Arsenal team Gooners?

  1. Top marks to Wenger for picking a hard working team. We can’t keep on carrying mercenaries like Sanchez and Ozil

    1. Yes, the team looks good. I like the hardworking attackers and Elneny selection, I think they deserve it.

But whoever the starting players are, it would not matter as long as Arsenal still cannot pass well. Klopp and Guardiola showed Wenger how a four defender formation is supposed to be used.

Guardiola’s Manchester City is what Arsenal is supposed to be, had Wenger could manage his team better. Arsenal should have shown an entertaining football match with open play goals, not with penalties and set piece goals like Mourinho’s team.

    2. Wenger is useless
Which big team subs their no 9 like we do can’t he Play Giroud and Lacazette?

See Ozil he’s beging to sign , see clear goal he should have scored

What exactly does xaka do for Arsenal, some one pls educate me

Until Wenger leaves Arsenal can go forward

      1. Cech is useless… watching from home I knew Deeney would go right…how does a world class keeper not even go the right direction for one penalty kick

Oo now wer Two goals down , Wenger is doubly useless

  2. And to think that Stoke gave us a beating.. are we still in the title race or just escorting Man city to their beloved trophy?

    1. Manu drew with them by getting the luck that Lacazette didn’t. Away, which does make a difference. We broke a record v stoke for chances created. City are the form team. Stoke obviously gave up the ghost and City took full advantage.

I don’t get when people say if they beat them then this means that, it’s two different time periods with different refs and it’s at different grounds. When Madrid lose to a lowly Spanish side it does not mean that that lowly team could rule Europe.

  3. Number of times a team has scored 5 or more goals in a PL game in 2017:
    6 Man City
    2 Tottenham
    1 Chelsea, Everton

NONE by Arsenal.. until we start winning big against the lower teams the bigger teams wont feel threatened
The only good news from Man City scoring 7 is that why do they need Alexis ?!?!?

    1. And so???
what about Crystal palace beating Chelsea as we speak??

I know it is painful when we lose and we want our team to win and win nicely at all times but common that is never possible…

You think City will carry this form all through the season? time will tell

All am saying is, in as much as we dont want our team to lose, it is inevitable and when it happens, there is no need for over reactions or stupid, negative comments.
I think Palace have not won any game this season and are now beating Chelsea, if it was Arsenal…hmmmm

Remember it is just a football game and fans dont have much gain…

      1. I think you are reading too much into my comment. It wasn’t meant to be taken seriously

        Relax and enjoy the match

      2. …its not inconceivable that citeh could carry their form throughout the season but we need to keep our momentum so as we have a big say too. and in all honesty i don’t know how we let kevin de broyne slip through the net, i’m looking at our scout system with an eyebrow raised.

        1. your deluded..we havent had a big say since u last got laid…u know…the nineties 🙂

but not about de bruyne…that season he was insane at wolfsburg…but also pricey -no one was paying 65 for him

    2. That Manchester City team is what could happen if Arsenal play under Guardiola’s guidance, or under any manager with Barcelona’s system. Arsenal could never win the major titles as long as they still cannot pass well.

  4. Alexis not on the bench at the very least is either poor judgement or else he’s at risk from an injury. I hope it’s the latter because Liverpool last season should have thought him a lesson. The lineup still looks a capable one but I’d worry a little about the final ball.

  5. As for the line-up, it is a bit defensive and IMO, the front three is not strong enough…Iwobi has a big task on his young shoulders today, lets see if he swim and not drown.

  6. The lineup is good enough to win. The defense seems solid (Koscielny, Holding, Mertsacker, Bellerin, Kolsanic) and at least we have lacazette up front. Iwobi and welbeck will need to step up a notch.

A bit worried about Eleny and Xhaka but hopefully they will have a fantastic game.

All in all, I’m quite positive
    COYG

  7. Alexis and Sanchex(70m) should be sold (50m). What a good deal of business
    Get in Lemar and Draxler.
My team will be a killer. Especially when we bring in Sterling and Martial on loan or mayybe a buy. We wont need players forthe next two seasons except for a striker. BEnzema tho

  8. Arsenal is so GD boring to watch

Xhaka and El Neny bring Absolutely NOTHING to the midfield

Sanchez and Ozil might be mercenaries who are desperate to leave the club but Arsenal have no offensive creativity or impetus without them.

  9. forget about ozil leaving we are stuck with him because no one else will give the over rated, lazy git the ridiculous salary we give him.

  10. Arsenal have scored more from set pieces than any other side in the league, big improvement, when did this happen. Alexis might have a little to do with it.

Delighted for Mert, now we need concentration.

    1. ..alexis is being spared for games we should win (like this): and ramsey has messed up my fantasy football points by being injured – anyway, i wish both a speedy recovery.

  11. Can we finally close the door on Welbecks career?

Join Diaby in the All Arsenal Infirmary 1st team

  12. And now they score .im lost for words ,spend 50 mil on a player who looked dangerous and keep taking him off around the 65 th min ,,now we need a goal

  13. cheating dive it was.

but why are we struggling to retain 1 goal against watford

levels lads…man city beat them 6-0 away few weeks back…levels

  14. if theo, ramsey or giroud had a chance like that and hit it straight at the keeper, fans would have been calling for their heads but because its ozil, no problem.

  15. What happened ti Bellerin? he so sloppy these days! And I think Ozil is a liability than an asset. We are not serious at all!

  16. The man has gone senile. Getting dominated, put wilshere or walcott on. Sitting like a dumb man. Removes lacazette. Wenger out now.

  17. …i’m peeping from out my curtains (again); we’re meant to distinguish ourselves against minnows. woops perhaps we’re minnows as well – we’ve mediocrity throughout our side. we will need to enter the transfer market if we want to be taken seriously.

  18. Must of been an epic halftime talk by our $8M joke
    of a manager.

Dominated in the 2nd half by a Watford team that was annihilated 6-0 by City a few weeks back.

    Gutless, typical Arsenal display

    1. This is how bad we have become. Those central midfielders are so dull. Can anyone remember a pair of central midfielders worse than these two? I’ve been watching since 79 and can’t recall two????

  19. I still Can’t understand what Arsene wenger brought in Giroud to do.
Clueless coach. Remove your most dangerous 50 mil target man for a liability that can’t even run or trap a damn ball. SMH

  20. Wenger lost us the game.
He can’t motivate the team to make a 100% effort, and to put Ozil on so we have both him and Iwobi on at the same time is so f…… stupid. 2 players who can’t defend, and Watford run straight through us. How many times do we have to take it?

  21. We will lose sponsors as I doubt the TV people will want to cover us any longer with this abject rubbish

  22. No real tactical play by Wenger. No penetration in play. Xahak really now annoying me.should have injected pace and creativity after half time.Man Wenger is lost and making us suffer.

  23. guess we’re kidding ourselves that we’re too good for the europa – it’s our real measure. 1-nil up only to go 2-1 down and at watford as well. i’d resign iwobi, bellerin to the bench while we look at bringing in extra quality to the side… we are sending out the wrong messages. we needed only to draw and we can’t even do that. #wenger isn’t the answer (anymore), where’s carlos ancelotti ?

  24. Hello lads?
Some people here where sayinh Arsenal is now on top form Arsenal is this….Arsenal is that.forgetting we were playing average teams at home.I told u guys wait until we play Watford bfor making noise.
Arsenal is shiiit..imagine Arsenal defending against Watford with just 1 goal up.
I hv always told u guys not to get carried away because Wenger is still in charge.
4 away matches no win just one point.
and Wenger wants to win d league.
Wenger can never win the league for Arsenal.
