OFFICIAL Arsenal team and preview of Watford away – NO Alexis!!

It is vital for Arsenal to carry on where we left off before the latest international break and I am sure that Arsene Wenger will have been making that point as often as possible to the Arsenal players. The boss and the lads will have been heartened with the perfect result of a draw between two of our main Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United earlier but they now have to make it count.

Wenger has had the boost of getting a few players back from the treatment room but has also lost one of his first choice defenders after Mustafi did his hamstring playing for Germany, and with some of the Arsenal stars coming back late or in a poor state of mind after their World Cup hopes were dashed this was always going to be a tough selection job for the Frenchman.

Cech
Koscielny, Mertesacker, Monreal
Bellerin, Xhaka, Elneny, Kolasinac
Iwobi, Lacazette, Welbeck

subs: Ospina, Holding, Coquelin, Ozil, Wilshere, Walcott, Giroud.

So Wenger clearly feels that the failure of Wales and Chile to qualify for Russia has had a negative effect as neither Ramsey or Alexis Sanchez is in the squad never mind the starting XI. The good news is that Kolasinac is better after his hip problem so Arsenal can stick with the same sort of system.

What do you think of the Arsenal team Gooners?

Bob.

  1. Who said Arsene can't do grime? says:

Top marks to Wenger for picking a hard working team. We can’t keep on carrying mercenaries like Sanchez and Ozil

    1. Gooner007 says:

I hope we’ll be creative enough today!
Hope Wenger brings Wilshere on early in the 2nd Half!

    2. gotanidea says:

Yes, the team looks good. I like the hardworking attackers and Elneny selection, I think they deserve it.

But whoever the starting players are, it would not matter as long as Arsenal still cannot pass well. Klopp and Guardiola showed Wenger how a four defender formation is supposed to be used.

Guardiola’s Manchester City is what Arsenal is supposed to be, had Wenger could manage his team better. Arsenal should have shown an entertaining football match with open play goals, not with penalties and set piece goals like Mourinho’s team.

    3. Nero says:

      Wenger is useless
Which big team subs their no 9 like we do can’t he Play Giroud and Lacazette?

See Ozil he’s beging to sign , see clear goal he should have scored

What exactly does xaka do for Arsenal, some one pls educate me

Until Wenger leaves Arsenal can go forward

      1. Nero says:

Cech is useless… watching from home I knew Deeney would go right…how does a world class keeper not even go the right direction for one penalty kick

Oo now wer Two goals down , Wenger is doubly useless

  2. bran99 says:

And to think that Stoke gave us a beating.. are we still in the title race or just escorting Man city to their beloved trophy?

    1. Redmau5 says:

Dude are u seriously putting arsenal in same sentence as title race

      Lol must be joking

      1. bran99 says:

        Hehehe sorry guys ??

    2. Break-on-through says:

Manu drew with them by getting the luck that Lacazette didn’t. Away, which does make a difference. We broke a record v stoke for chances created. City are the form team. Stoke obviously gave up the ghost and City took full advantage.

I don’t get when people say if they beat them then this means that, it’s two different time periods with different refs and it’s at different grounds. When Madrid lose to a lowly Spanish side it does not mean that that lowly team could rule Europe.

      1. Goonerboy says:

        God bless you mate…

  3. neil says:

Number of times a team has scored 5 or more goals in a PL game in 2017:
    6 Man City
    2 Tottenham
    1 Chelsea, Everton

NONE by Arsenal.. until we start winning big against the lower teams the bigger teams wont feel threatened
The only good news from Man City scoring 7 is that why do they need Alexis ?!?!?

    1. LL_cool_gunner says:

Or it will only make Alexis want to join them..

      1. Redmau5 says:

Make him want to join them?
He’s already had his house painted blue
        And has oasis on repeat

  4. Arsenal_Girl says:

We lost to Stoke and City are thrashing them 7-2

    1. Goonerboy says:

      And so???
what about Crystal palace beating Chelsea as we speak??

I know it is painful when we lose and we want our team to win and win nicely at all times but common that is never possible…

You think City will carry this form all through the season? time will tell

All am saying is, in as much as we dont want our team to lose, it is inevitable and when it happens, there is no need for over reactions or stupid, negative comments.
I think Palace have not won any game this season and are now beating Chelsea, if it was Arsenal…hmmmm

Remember it is just a football game and fans dont have much gain…

      1. Arsenal_Girl says:

I think you are reading too much into my comment. It wasn’t meant to be taken seriously

        Relax and enjoy the match

      2. waal2waal says:

…its not inconceivable that citeh could carry their form throughout the season but we need to keep our momentum so as we have a big say too. and in all honesty i don’t know how we let kevin de broyne slip through the net, i’m looking at our scout system with an eyebrow raised.

        1. redmau5 says:

your deluded..we havent had a big say since u last got laid…u know…the nineties 🙂

but not about de bruyne…that season he was insane at wolfsburg…but also pricey -no one was paying 65 for him

    2. gotanidea says:

That Manchester City team is what could happen if Arsenal play under Guardiola’s guidance, or under any manager with Barcelona’s system. Arsenal could never win the major titles as long as they still cannot pass well.

  5. AndersS says:

    Good selection.

  6. Break-on-through says:

Alexis not on the bench at the very least is either poor judgement or else he’s at risk from an injury. I hope it’s the latter because Liverpool last season should have thought him a lesson. The lineup still looks a capable one but I’d worry a little about the final ball.

  7. Goonerboy says:

As for the line-up, it is a bit defensive and IMO, the front three is not strong enough…Iwobi has a big task on his young shoulders today, lets see if he swim and not drown.

  8. Arsenal_Girl says:

The lineup is good enough to win. The defense seems solid (Koscielny, Holding, Mertsacker, Bellerin, Kolsanic) and at least we have lacazette up front. Iwobi and welbeck will need to step up a notch.

A bit worried about Eleny and Xhaka but hopefully they will have a fantastic game.

All in all, I’m quite positive
    COYG

  9. Sue says:

So happy with Chelsea losing! Come on Arsenal please don’t let me down!

  10. Uzed says:

Alexis and Sanchex(70m) should be sold (50m). What a good deal of business
    Get in Lemar and Draxler.
My team will be a killer. Especially when we bring in Sterling and Martial on loan or mayybe a buy. We wont need players forthe next two seasons except for a striker. BEnzema tho

    1. Uzed says:

I meant to say Alexis and OZil

  11. waal2waal says:

    …alls i know is we’ll score – it’s inevitable and i can’t wait !!

  12. Arsenal_Girl says:

    Lacazette to score 1st goal

    1. waal2waal says:

      i’m a believer Arsenal_G

  13. Gunners says:

Its boring to watch, where is my old Arsenal?

    1. Redmau5 says:

      Gone ..long gone

  14. Adam Criniti says:

Arsenal is so GD boring to watch

Xhaka and El Neny bring Absolutely NOTHING to the midfield

Sanchez and Ozil might be mercenaries who are desperate to leave the club but Arsenal have no offensive creativity or impetus without them.

    1. GB says:

Xhaka our best player in first half

  15. Roachie says:

This game is made for Jack. I know I’ll get thumbs down for this but he is fit and playing on form

  16. reddb10 says:

forget about ozil leaving we are stuck with him because no one else will give the over rated, lazy git the ridiculous salary we give him.

  17. LL_cool_gunner says:

We need ozil in this game

  18. LL_cool_gunner says:

    No creativity at all…

  19. LL_cool_gunner says:

If Vidal plays for Bayern, am going to pissed at wenger, no imagination up front..

  20. wycombe says:

    bullet header from BFG

  21. Who said Arsene can't do grime? says:

    1-0 to the arsenal.

    We’re a power team now.

    1. Redmau5 says:

Yeah the power of wengers small pee pee

  22. waal2waal says:

    …mertesacker to the rescue…

    1. redmau5 says:

      said no one ever

  23. Sue says:

    Nice one Big F*****g German!!!

  24. Arsenal_Girl says:

    Mertsacker’s experience is invaluable
Hes a World Cup champion too

    THANKS MERT

  25. Towers says:

Arsenal just too blunt! Side passing without any penetration. What does Bellerin offer offensively?

  26. Okiror says:

THIS KIND OF PERFORMANCE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, PATHETIC JUST

  27. Break-on-through says:

Arsenal have scored more from set pieces than any other side in the league, big improvement, when did this happen. Alexis might have a little to do with it.

Delighted for Mert, now we need concentration.

  28. Sue says:

    Iwobi is so s**t

  29. GB says:

Laca needs to be subbed, not his day today.

  30. redmau5 says:

    guess whos injured….
il give u two guesses..ul only need one….

    1. waal2waal says:

..alexis is being spared for games we should win (like this): and ramsey has messed up my fantasy football points by being injured – anyway, i wish both a speedy recovery.

      1. waal2waal says:

… oh S*** you mean Welbeck (again).

  31. Adam Criniti says:

Can we finally close the door on Welbecks career?

Join Diaby in the All Arsenal Infirmary 1st team

  32. GB says:

Laca off as I called it

  33. GB says:

    Bell end is shiiit

    1. waal2waal says:

…we elevated his status much too quickly. He should really be made to compete with debuchy imo

  34. redmau5 says:

how did ozil not score that?!

    great now a penalty fffffffffssssssss

    yep world class

  35. GB says:

Sorry my bad, cheating diving Watford twat

  36. Perry Ames says:

The ref has been conned football is finished when cheating player dive I I MEAN CHEATING

  37. xxnofx says:

wow he takes all our speed off the pitch
now we got no player who can sprint 100meters under 20 secs

    1. arsenal#7 says:

Silva made adjustments to get back in the match
Wenger made adjustments to loose this one.
      2 more years of this….

  38. waal2waal says:

oh we’ll 1-1 …seems we’ve a habit of making things hard for ourselves.

  39. xxnofx says:

And now they score .im lost for words ,spend 50 mil on a player who looked dangerous and keep taking him off around the 65 th min ,,now we need a goal

  40. redmau5 says:

    cheating dive it was.

but why are we struggling to retain 1 goal against watford

levels lads…man city beat them 6-0 away few weeks back…levels

  41. reddb10 says:

if theo, ramsey or giroud had a chance like that and hit it straight at the keeper, fans would have been calling for their heads but because its ozil, no problem.

  42. xxnofx says:

We need a goal and we still got xhaka and eygpt on ..dont get it

  43. Gunners says:

What happened ti Bellerin? he so sloppy these days! And I think Ozil is a liability than an asset. We are not serious at all!

  44. Ack77 says:

The man has gone senile. Getting dominated, put wilshere or walcott on. Sitting like a dumb man. Removes lacazette. Wenger out now.

    1. GB says:

      Laca has been Shiite today
      Kolasinac not far behind him
      Wtf has gone wrong?

  45. GB says:

    Kos injured again!

  46. waal2waal says:

…i’m peeping from out my curtains (again); we’re meant to distinguish ourselves against minnows. woops perhaps we’re minnows as well – we’ve mediocrity throughout our side. we will need to enter the transfer market if we want to be taken seriously.

  47. Adam Criniti says:

Must of been an epic halftime talk by our $8M joke
    of a manager.

Dominated in the 2nd half by a Watford team that was annihilated 6-0 by City a few weeks back.

    Gutless, typical Arsenal display

    1. Bob2 says:

This is how bad we have become. Those central midfielders are so dull. Can anyone remember a pair of central midfielders worse than these two? I’ve been watching since 79 and can’t recall two????

      1. gmv8 says:

10 million now -Kroenke thought he was doing such a good job, he gave him a 25% pay rise.

  48. Bboy says:

I still Can’t understand what Arsene wenger brought in Giroud to do.
Clueless coach. Remove your most dangerous 50 mil target man for a liability that can’t even run or trap a damn ball. SMH

  49. GB says:

    What a total fcuk up!!!

  50. Gunners says:

    A joke club!

  51. LL_cool_gunner says:

    Lol typical..

  52. Bob2 says:

Thank God I’ve cancelled bt can’t keep watching this utter rubbish… Sky sports to follow……

  53. gmv8 says:

Get out of our club Kroenke

  54. Sue says:

    I’m speechless

  55. dasdasd says:

so much for an international BREAK

  56. AndersS says:

    Wenger lost us the game.
He can’t motivate the team to make a 100% effort, and to put Ozil on so we have both him and Iwobi on at the same time is so f…… stupid. 2 players who can’t defend, and Watford run straight through us. How many times do we have to take it?

  57. waal2waal says:

ózil and sanchez don’t really have to play alongside these lot – if we’re being honest.

  58. gmv8 says:

We will lose sponsors as I doubt the TV people will want to cover us any longer with this abject rubbish

  59. Ox says:

We ain’t winning sh1t this season what a joke this club I SUPPORT has become ?

  60. Sandeep says:

No real tactical play by Wenger. No penetration in play. Xahak really now annoying me.should have injected pace and creativity after half time.Man Wenger is lost and making us suffer.

  61. Tim says:

If Watford hadn’t cheated it would have been a draw.

    1. waal2waal says:

we should have ripped watford to shreds they’ve only been in the prem for 5mins… no excuses

  62. waal2waal says:

guess we’re kidding ourselves that we’re too good for the europa – it’s our real measure. 1-nil up only to go 2-1 down and at watford as well. i’d resign iwobi, bellerin to the bench while we look at bringing in extra quality to the side… we are sending out the wrong messages. we needed only to draw and we can’t even do that. #wenger isn’t the answer (anymore), where’s carlos ancelotti ?

  63. Clive says:

    Hello lads?
Some people here where sayinh Arsenal is now on top form Arsenal is this….Arsenal is that.forgetting we were playing average teams at home.I told u guys wait until we play Watford bfor making noise.
Arsenal is shiiit..imagine Arsenal defending against Watford with just 1 goal up.
I hv always told u guys not to get carried away because Wenger is still in charge.
4 away matches no win just one point.
and Wenger wants to win d league.
Wenger can never win the league for Arsenal.
