Official Arsenal team for C.O.C. match away to Spurs

The biggest surprise for me this evening with the Arsenal team selected by Arsene Wenger to face Tottenham in the Capital One cup game is that the boss has not picked Gabriel, and tha Braxzilian international defender who has just been let off his red card from the Chelsea game has not even made the bench.

And neither is Laurent Koscielny, so let’s hope that Chambers and Mertesacker play well and do not pick up an injury or a red card. They are likely to be tested though, because the spuds are starting with Harry Kane, Townsend, Chadli and with Eriksen in the number 10 role.

Our rotated defence will have the extra protection of tweo holding midfielders in the absence of Coquelin at least, with Wenger going for Arteta and Flamini as a double pivot and it looks like Aaron Ramsey will be our number 10, with the Ox and Joel Campbell on either side of Olivier Giroud in attack.

Ospina
Debuchy, Mertesacker, Chambers, Gibbs
Arteta, Flamin
Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Campbell
Giroud

Subs: Macey, Bellerin, Monreal, Ozil, Iwobi, Sanchez, Walcott

So it is a fairly strong Arsenal team but with a lot of changes and they need to perform well to avoid the Gunners going down to three losses in a row for the first time since 2010.

  1. It will be interesting to see how Ramsey gets on in the central position. He’s been pretty poor out on the right this season…

      1. Right down the spine is a concern for me. Chambers/BFG seems slow and easily penetrated. The two in front of them….obvious concern. Ramsey at attacking mid. When Ramsey played advanced centrally in last year’s 4-1-4-1 he struggled mightily as he tried to do more than he was capable of, and selfishly tried to score too much. Will see how he does tonight…
Huge game for OG12 tonight. The man needs confidence back in a hurry.
From a wide perspective, Gibbs, Debuchy, and the OX underwhelmed when they played in Europe, and Campbell wouldn’t even be hear if Welbz wasn’t hurt (though I think I rate his ability higher than most if he was just given a run of games to get confidence).

So I guess in saying this I’m terrified of all 10 outfield positions. yikes

  2. I like the line up, I’m excited to see what a front 4 of the ox, Ramsey, Campbell and giroud could do. Let’s get a win boys COYG!!

  3. pretty much i expected except the absence of iowbe and idelende. i like it though…also i think this shows that Gab koss partnership will b z 1 that we will c throughout the season. COYG!

    1. Bayz….we won 2-1. You never saw the show before it started……remember that before calling someone a comedian.

  4. This is the team i predicted would start man for man. It’s just the only team to pick with injuries, suspension and players needing rest. Let’s see how flamini and arteta play.

    1. There is not much other option tho’ – Coq is out, and we couldn’t manage to recruit in the summer, Cazorla is on his one match ban – lol, only other option was Ramsey, who I think is better where he is.

  5. I don’t like this line up – it is mostly bench players.

We should at least have one full time 1st team member in defence – It would’ve made sense for this to be Gabriel, as we don’t know what’s going to happen in the next FA hearing.

Let’s just hope that certain players step up to the plate this time…..

  6. Hahaha wenger is a joker ?
you call that a strong team? ???
maybe at 3nil down he will bring on Sanchez and Walcott and take off Arteta and Gibbs … why even bother turning up!
    ????

Come back Annie…. all is forgiven!! ?

  7. The “triangle” in front of Cech is too slow. Not much legs out there. We really don’t have a B team to be excited about, do we?

  8. Excellent rotation.
    Mertz back is good.
    Giroud chance to get
    back in form.
    Campbell a chance to shine.
All the defenders need game time.
    Ramsey in the middle.
    So yes good team selection

  9. The players chosen need to really put in a shift tonight. Fed up talking tactics. 100% effort all round. That would be a start, getting paid enough

  10. my god its difficult to watch this shit…debuchy is woeful…no creativity in middle…no real threat up front…ocassional effort by the ox …

  11. Debuchy, Flamini and Gibbs have been our best players

    Campbell is just useless
Get him off an replace with Alexis or Theo

    1. Debuchy has literally been the worst player on the pitch.

But then again I remember you’re a troll, so I shouldn’t feed you.. sshhhh

  12. Hope Coq is ok, with only other two DMs on yellow cards. Wenger is being very elusive about him, which isn’t a good sign.

  13. cant watch anymore sorry…time to shut up shop and wait til next season when the colnel hopefully will have gone coz he is a joker and an embarresment to our club

  14. This lineup doesn’t have a lot of creativity in it. It has a couple of dribblers, but nobody who will really break down a defence with a pass. Giroud hasn’t been a factor at all aside from his half chance earlier, hardly got the ball up to him really.

  15. If Giroud or Debuchy scores the winning goal you will all be changing your attitude like the fickle People that you are.

  16. Not just saying it but the only problem I ever had with Flamini, was the number of silly fouls he did to get himself sent off / concede penalties.
