Official Arsenal team for Swansea City clash

The big question for Arsenal fans ahead of this Premier League clash with our recent bogey team Swansea City was how Arsene Wenger and the players would deal with the injury problems that have suddenly left the Gunners looking very stretched, especially going forwards.

The boss has gone for Joel Campbell in the right forward position and hopefully the young Costa Rican striker will use this chance to show what he can do, as he does regularly for his national team. With Giroud, Alexis, Ozil and Cazorla all in good form and with the ability to hurt any team, Campbell should have chances to prove that he can be a Premier League star.

He will have to be on the ball defensively as well and he and Hector Bellerin have a big jon on their hands to keep the Swansea winger Montero quiet. Remember how many problems he caused Calum Chambers down that flank last season.

Cech
Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal
Coquelin, Cazorla
Campbell, Ozil, Sanchez
Giroud

Subs: Debuchy, Gibbs, Gabriel, Flamini, Chambers, Iwobi, Macey.

THere is not a great deal of attacking threat sitting on the Arsenal bench so we could really do with the starting line up starting well and taking this game away from the home team before it starts to get near the end. And of course it goes without saying that we really do not want to see any more Gunners picking up an injury.

6 of Arsenal’s 7 substitutes are “defensive” players. That is, there’s no one to bring off the bench to change the game. Brilliant.

    1. Mick The Gooner says:

Well Walcott, Ox, Wilshere, Ramsey, Rosicky and Welbeck are all injured. We don’t really have any other options…

    2. Flamini our 2nd striker,no?

    3. come on,.da bench team z fake

    4. BabyPlease says:

      That is a good point
      I didn’t realise that.
But as Koscielny, Flamini, Bellerin have shown in the past, even defenders can score

So everyone needs to step up and play well.

  2. ArsenalGenes says:

    No Gabriel??? Why Wenger Why?

    1. Budd says:

He’s not even on the bench so I assume he’s sick.

      1. Fatboy Gooney says:

Should have went to spec savers!
My know it all … wenger wanna be friend ??

        1. Budd says:

          Your point being?

  3. Fatboy Gooney says:

The subs bench is looking rather sad and depleted,
I suppose the game plan will be to go one nil up and then take off Sanchez, Ozil and Giroud! And defend like crazy? ?

    1. ArsenalGenes says:

I would change defend like crazy to ‘like chelsea’ haha.. Oh wait..

  4. Krish says:

Happy to see Campbell and nothing that could be done about the bench, all (about 6-7) of our injured players are for the front postitions, there is nothing you could do about it. Its impossible to play the starting players and in the front 4 and having 6 of the backup injured and having a strong bench for the offensive… the squad limit is 25 and i think we have filled 24 slots, and if we have bought a player on the level of ox welbeck, it wouldnt be ideal when they are all fit again..so i understand that wenger didnt want a player on that niveau for that we have campbell with potential
or of course one can argue that we could have sold players like wilshere or ox or walcott or ramsey who attract injuries (i dont like to say injury prone ^^) and bought less injury prone (:P) players but i would have absolutely hated it to see even one them leaving.. we are the arsenal not city or chelsea or madrid who just throw good talented players out who represent the club and identify themselves with us, we.. well atleast wenger and some fans, believe in our players and squad

  5. Fatboy Gooney says:

    MoaningHO sacked!! ???
    Chelsea 1
    Liverpool 3

    1. Gigi2 says:

In all honesty I wish he won’t be sacked.
As for the result I D wish for a draw. Always in big clashes of our title rivals I wish for a draw .
But I can’t deny this score puts a smile on my face

    2. SoOpa AeoN says:

what sort of draw my friend?…………A loss for moanino can’t taste any sweeter on my palate

      1. Gigi2 says:

The sort of draw in which each of our title rivals take one point instead of one taking 3…?

As i said in the post ypibreplied. ..I am all smiles feelings wise. But in terms of objective thoughts it’s always better that all of them lose points and that’s possible when they meet and draw

  6. Mick The Gooner says:

Seems Chelsea really are a lower mid-table side now.

  7. DKR.Gunner says:

    Good luck gunners. COYG!!

  8. SoOpa AeoN says:

    Relegation awaits some team……… L()L

  9. HA559 says:

    Normal one > special one

  10. HA559 says:

Joel won’t get a better chance than this. Play well and he starts vs Bayern as well, if not maybe Gibbs will slot at LW and Sanchez at RW against Bayern.

    1. Mick The Gooner says:

I’d rather Bellerin RW, Sanchez LW and Debuchy RB

  11. Tyno says:

    How hast the mighty fallen?

  12. BabyPlease says:

    Listen Baby Please

Look, if you think about it 10 out of 11 players are regulars and Campbell will work hard to prove himself. So don’t be negative. Have some faith in our team. We can win

We also have an excellent away record. That should not change with one change hopefully

Does anyone know the Chelsea/Liverpool score :-‘)

  13. Twig says:

Joel Campbell looking in good shape so far. A good cross and a good block…

    1. Krish says:

      and a good shot 😀

  14. Sack-Wenger says:

    Defensively Joel looks very good.
Something for Wenger to think about for Bayern game.

  15. Tyno says:

    Millions of eyes on Joel.

    1. Sack-Wenger says:

Yeah and really want him to do well and fight for a starting spot.

  16. Sack-Wenger says:

You see mert, oh my word, he owes Chech and Bellerin

  17. Sack-Wenger says:

Campbell looks like he showed up today, watchout ox and Ramsey.
When all fit we really will have a selection problem, good times.

  18. Twig says:

Joel Campbell holding the ball up very well…

  19. Sack-Wenger says:

We look sloppy, only Joel seems to have shown up.

  30. rkw says:

utterly outclassed by a mid table team

    1. Sack-Wenger says:

This is what happens with us, from dispatching UTD & Bayern to this.
      Maybe it fatigue.

  31. Sack-Wenger says:

Whats up with Sanchez, hope it just an off day.

  32. Ks-Gunner says:

go back to the second french leuage

  33. Swansea are so good in the challenge, they just bully us off any 50/50s.

  34. Sanchez took a break and came back flat.

  35. rkw says:

    disgrace to the shirt

  36. Ks-Gunner says:

I have no idea how we can win thig game. By now we should be losing. Some lucky goal and park the buss would have done the job.

  37. rkw says:

only encouraging thing in that half is that it cant get worse…swansea should have this game in the bag…so wenger had better get them motivated…campbell had his moments but nothing to work with really

  38. Ks-Gunner says:

Merti needs to stay behind bec Gomis will outpower him and outrun him with ease.Comon Arsenal, show some fighting spirit

  39. SoOpa AeoN says:

  49. Robin Vanpayslip says:

  50. ras911 says:

      1. Krish says:

        1. rkw says:
