Official Arsenal XI and preview for Dinamo Zagreb

Arsene Wenger has made wholesale changes, six in total, to the Arsenal starting line up for the opening game in the Champions League group stage. Going on form and reputation, tonight´s opponents Dinamo Zagreb are the weakest team in the group and with a massive Premier League clash with Chelsea coming up early on Saturday, you cannot blame him.

The players coming in are no mugs either, with Ospina, Debuchy, Gibbs, Arteta, Giroud and Oxlade-Chamberlain all more or less unlucky that they are not regular first teamers already, so as long as they are properly prepared for this game and the boss gets his tactics right, there is no reason for us not to be heading back to London in a few hours with all three points.

It remains to be seen exactly how the players will line up but this is a fairly educated guess.

Ospina
Debuchy, Gabriel, Koscielny, Gibbs
Arteta, Cazorla
Chamberlain, Ozil. Alexis
Giroud

Subs: Cech, Monreal, Chambers, Flamini, Coquelin, Walcott, Campbell

This is a big game for the club captain Mikel Arteta who needs to show that he can be a viable alternative to the brilliant Francis Coquelin, while both full backs will also want to impress the boss in order to challenge for their places in the first team.

I really do not know a great deal about this Zagreb side other than that they did an invincibles season in the Croatian league last season, so hopefully Arsenal are on the ball from the first whistle. COYG

  1. Away in champions league and Wenger decides to play Arteta who hasn’t played since WW2 (and is over the hill). Great ambition

  2. Who notices that ozil’s movement up top is better than giroud’s. Giroud is a good player, but he doesn’t suit a top team. Any striker that doesn’t have quality movement, pace, dribbling, composure and finishing doesn’t suit a top top club, maybe the likes of tottenham and everton but not arsenal. I am lost for words about wenger and his decision to stick with the likes of arteta and flamini.

  3. Gibbs ducked on the corner…lol
    F*cking unbelievable…LOL 🙂

    LOOK PEOPLE… Campbell is in… !!! LOL

    Wenger is a joke….!!
    Support you mug!

    lol

There is nothing in this team… 10 players, 11 players, 12 players… It does not matter…

Now Coquelin, Walcott and Campbell are in …LOL

    3 at the back…

    Why not @?

  4. Honest ?

At what point is Arsene held accountable for this predictable shit show and probably more paramount to the future of the club is there anyone willing to hold him accountable?

Roman would can his ass the second the final whistle blew, “Stay in Croatia you old French fool”

  5. Arteta is never seriously a DM, it’s in these situations that we needed another DM, and yet Wenger just doesn’t see it.

  6. well, at least we can play ozil-cazorla-ramsey together…
    cech
    bellerin-gabriel-Koss-Monral
    Coq-Ramsey
    walcott-cazorla-alexis
    ozil

    hahahahahah

  7. Lol. Business as usual for Wenger and Arsenal. Lack of striker signing will screw our season. The writing is on the wall. My heart goes out to Ozil. 77 fu*king created chances by him wasted.

And Wenger be like : Since we are already behind 2-0 , why not give some match practice to Campbell. Go away Joel. Go away from this club. That old twat will destroy your career and win banana. And bringing Coq back ? Hahaha. Why not start with him. If he cant handle the load of playing 3 games in a week, what is the fu*king point.

Gibbs, Debuchy and Arteta ar so poor.

    1. I take it the two that thumbed me down were happy with arteta and giroud’s (that striker and holding mid positions we have all banged on about) performance this evening then ?

      Just get out wenger !

The dream of winning one last title is over , you don’t have the tactical know how or even the ambition anymore to topple a Chelsea or Man City !

I truly thank you for all the good you’ve done , but enough is enough !

  8. yeahhhhhh no surprises its been the arsenal state of mind for over a decade now. we are a joke of a club handled by a gambling manager who has a mind of its own

  9. You know our game at Stamford bridge will kickstart Chelsea’s season. This is what Arsenal does to a struggling club. Give them life.

  10. Wenger was stupid in his Reading of this game, he should know better.
I thought he was going all the way for the UCL but I see he favoured EPL.

I am about, only for thag, to jump on the AOB.

  11. Waiting to hear from all the 4th place junkies… Too early in the season to tell right the referees weather??? what f****** more excuses do u need other than the one that matters

  12. 3 out of back 5 changed in an away ucl game.On top of that CDM changed to a fu*king grandpa. And Wenger be like I am currently the most experienced manger in ucl.

    1. wouldnt u be??

your playin in balls to ronaldo an messi in champions league semis

two years later…ur playin in balls to giroud an losing at zagreb

looool- YOU COULD NOT MAKE THIS UP!

      1. in all fairness, not at giroud but they shuld be issed at Wenger.
the tram selection is like ajoke and disrecpect.

  13. As soon as I saw the team, I knew Wenger has either surrendered for ucl already or he thinks his golden boy OG will score a hat trick.

  14. How in the world can we go to Zagreb, 4o games ubeaten at home, crreators of Eduardo and Modric, with OSpina Debuchy and Gibbs…who havent played in like half a year….

We only sowed disrespect for the opponent and total stupidity.

Oh andd Ox ….can someone tell him these games are serious as EPL? or even more??

  15. We’ll still lose to bayern either at home or away and there’s no way we will take 6pts from olypiamkos. Chills guys we can win the europa league. The akbs will be happy with that

  16. i do miss welbeck… at least he more compact than giroud….

giroud need to be our 3rd striker behind walcott & welbeck…. LOL

  17. So now we have a first choice striker who was a winger last season and the striker who we “invested on” for 3 seasons turnes out to be ultimately useless. So much for your patience and belief Wenger. But look at the brighter side. Wenger still gets 7 mil a year and we have 200mil in the bank.WE ARE ARSENALOL.

  18. Wengr should think that peoplethat have actual lives and chose by heart to Support Arsenal, could stop supporting because all the anger that it causes do not ualify well in modern day life with all other problems.
Supposed to be a way out of stress nt a cause of.
Beware Wenger. You miht have sealed a fate for Arsenal today

  19. Just heard this will be Dinamo’s first win against and English opponent in an European tournament… Hate we always seem to make negative records

  20. What is the point of resting your few ‘good’ players you have, when you know you are going to lose both games(tonight and Saturday games)

  21. It was complete lunacy to weaken the back line so much, knowing they’d be playing counter attack. Losing Cech, Coq and Bellerin, arguably three of our best back players was just too much.

If Wenger needed to reinforce, knowing he’d need to save players, he should’ve done so in the transfer window. Pure negligence.

  22. I’ve thought about it on numerous occasions over the past 5-6 years, but unless there is a real challenge for the the premier title, or CL this year, I’m not renewing my season ticket next year. I’m sick of half hearted performances like tonight, no guts, no passion, no sense of urgency, poor performances and seemingly no desire. They play like they have a God given right to play the way they want to, and the opposition should just let them.

I’ve been a season ticket holder for nearly 40 years, but enough is enough, I have better things to spend thousands of pounds on than watching this bunch of no-hopers.
