Official Arsenal XI and preview for Man City – No Alexis

Arsenal cannot go to the top of the Premier League with a home win over Man City this evening, because of that pesky Leicester City side of Claudio Ranieri, but we can open up a four point lead over the club that is likely to be our main rivals for the EPL title.

Arsene Wenger has spoken in the build up about this game being an important moment for the Gunners but it os perhaps even more important for the visitors as they have been on a bad run and another loss could really dent their confidence.

So they will be very happy to be able to name Aguero, Toure, Silva and De Bruyne in the starting line up, while Sterling only makes the bench. Our own hoped for returning player, Alexis Sanchez, has not even made the squad so the boss sticks with Walcott and Campbell on either side of the in form Giroud.

While not having the Chilean available is a blow, we have done alright without him and I think that the loss of Kompany for City will prove to be more important, especially if Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey can pick up where they left off and our own first choice defence can stay strong.

Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal
Flamini, Ramsey
Campbell, Ozil, Walcott

subs: Ospina, Chambers, Gabriel, Reine-Adelaide, Gibbs, Iwobi, Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Would we take a point from this big game or is a win vital for Arsenal and our title hopes?

    1. It’s not as if City have any lanky giant striker’s or anything?

I just hope that wenger has at least got his tactics right,
      for this game!

  1. Best line up we can put forward to be honest. Flamini and Ramsay better have the game of their season or else we’re be freaken exposed.

  2. Hehehe………No risk Taken……… Hope walcott and campbell Live up to expectations!…….. GUNZ Loading…

  3. We need a quick start and a early goal,
Otherwise if we sit back and invite them to attack us,
They will punish us for sure!

Come on you Gunners, makes us proud!!!

  4. Here we go Gooners a real test to see where we are at in the league! Draw written all over it but hoping we beat them badly like we did their neighbours not too long ago!!

  5. man city team has goals in it at both ends…attack the best form of defence…sadly walcott not the player to exploit this but giroud and campbell in confident mood so a lot rests on ozils shoulders tonight in terms of provider

  6. The only line up we can put up at the moment. The dept at the moment so bad that we have Iwobi and Reine-Adelaide both on the bench in a top PL match but they can spring surprises. Well, City also have Iheanacho on the bench. Sagna will see that the Monreal he knew is a very different one from the one he will confront. We have Cech so 2-0 to Arsenal.

  7. We really lack depth, these injures will bite us at some point.

If everyone could be fit for a full season I would back us all the way. But this is Arsenal and that wont ever happen.

Think we going to miss Coq the most this game

    1. sanchez changes the pace of this team, but do not expect to win either, barcas central defense vulnerable ie: Pique

  8. Keep it up boys!! City will come out all guns blazing so sit deep and counter with Theo and bulldozer Giroud!

  9. Oh Yeah… I said earlier that I have a good feeling about this game. Who saw Ozil tracking back? Dude has taken his critics to another level. So happy for Him. Kos had Aguero in his pocket in the 1st half.

Let’s focus in the 2nd half and we got this wrapped up. Focus guys!

  10. What a sizzler from Walcott – his shooting has improved tremendously over the years. Wizard of Oz oozing style and confidence – great assists. Giroud is proving me wrong with each game – from mediocre to world class. Campbell might not be having the best attacking movement, but he is working extremely hard which anyone can appreciate. Even though we are not dominating possession, we are clinical which is opposite to how we used to be – all posssession, no end product. Our defense looks pretty solid too. COYG another goal and we are smooth sailing.

  11. Giroud to get his double tonight.great strike from giroud. And people are saying he cant score against big teams. He has already scored against manure,Bayern and now city..not good enough yet??giroud is one of the best strikers in the epl

    1. Seancali – one of the biggest moaner on finally accepted that Wenger was right to put faith on Giroud.

  12. Bad substitutions in my opinion. Gibbs was not necessary and neither was OX. I hope we hang on to the lead as we squandered many chances. Could have easily had 5 goals.

    1. i think admin should auto hide comments of this kind of people who use caplocks. You think that make others listen to you? It only makes you look like an annoying kid

  15. vinie, we just won with our bench, no sanchez, santi, coq…. not to mention welbeck, rosicki, arteta are bench injured,

  16. Arsenal207 It was not my intention to insult anyone not be so sensitive dude.I was typing while watching the game and i did not realise was cap locked.
ludaguns bro, do not mention rosicki, wellbeck, arteta when we all know they are not fully fit for a demanding season like this one where is so inconsistent and there is huge chance to win it only if we get 2 more signs.we all know a DM ( Carvalho/biglia just to mention few ) is a MUST for years to come and why not adding extra ST ( huntellar /lacazette ) would be nice addition.Today game if you analysed not watched..Ramsey was poorly positioned not just in their goal but in decision making, bringing a left back with 15 mins left who doesnt give you and edge and chambers to fill the centre with a CB instead of DM which caused chaos and pushed us even deeper. Conclusion as SKY pundits again and again “Arsenal need a DM and ST” to win the EPL until then NEVER. Can you see it? I do so to others..
