Arsenal have officially confirmed the signing of Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle United, bringing an end to one of the summer’s longest-running transfer sagas.
After weeks of speculation, with Fabrizio Romano, David Ornstein and several other leading journalists all reporting that a deal was edging closer, the Gunners have now unveiled the Brazil international as Mikel Arteta’s latest addition.
The 28-year-old arrives on a long-term contract and immediately becomes one of the most experienced and influential midfielders in Arsenal’s squad.

Guimarães has developed into one of the Premier League’s standout midfielders since joining Newcastle United in January 2022. During his four-and-a-half years at St James’ Park, he made almost 200 appearances, helped Newcastle lift the Carabao Cup in 2025 and played a key role in securing Champions League qualification.

Those comments underline exactly why Arsenal were so determined to complete the deal. Guimarães offers versatility, leadership and elite Premier League experience, while also adding another genuine match-winner to Arteta’s squad.
The Brazilian has already earned 48 senior caps for his country, represented Brazil at the FIFA World Cup and Copa América, and won Olympic gold at the Tokyo Games.
A huge statement before the new season
Arsenal’s midfield already boasts outstanding quality, but Guimarães’ arrival gives Arteta another player capable of controlling matches at both ends of the pitch. His intensity, creativity and ability to dictate the tempo should make the Gunners even stronger as they prepare to compete on multiple fronts.
The midfielder will wear the iconic No.39 shirt and joins up with his new teammates immediately, subject to the completion of the remaining regulatory processes.

nah dude , Rice and Zubimendi played so many mins because Arteta didn’t trust anyone to come in till he tried Skelly in the last approx 5 league fixtures

Not sure I quite agree. Arteta is known for playing players to the ground, especially if you’re his favourite. He had to take Zubi off at the season’s end games due to what was at stake
You don’t pay £75M for a player and put him on the bench because he’s not your favourite.
Arteta doesn’t have a favouritism issue but instead a trust issue.
He obviously never trusted Norgaard enough and had to play others to the ground until MLS came up.
And he’s obviously making up for that and luckily there are more than enough games to go around ,to keep everyone fresh and warm.
Zubimendi 100% will be on the bench next season. Will he fancy bench life?
In the right full back position Arsenal have quantity but not quality. Mosquera not a natural RB as he made us pay v PSG. Both White and Timber are injury prone. This situation impacts Saka. A certain player from Spain or Portugal was mentioned in transfers but ?
As this transfer has been going on for ages, it seems like an anti climax, but it really isn’t.
Bruno will be a tremendous signing for us and one I had hoped for after watching him play for Newcastle.
