OFFICIAL confirmed team for Arsenal v Bayern Munich

So the big day arrives and Arsenal will need to have an amazing performance at the Emirates tonight against the German Champions Bayern Munich if they are going to salvage some pride from this tie, and maybe reduce the pressure on our manager Arsene Wenger.

The big talking point in Wenger’s team is that our returning hitman Danny Welbeck got injured before a ball was even kicked and Olivier Giroud makes an unusual start for the Gunners.

Alexis returns to the starting lineup as one of four changes for tonight’s meeting with Bayern Munich.

David Ospina starts in goal, with Aaron Ramsey stepping in to partner Granit Xhaka in central midfield.

Theo Walcott also returns to the starting line up, with Alexis leading our attack.

Elsewhere, Mesut Ozil has recovered from illness to replace Alex Iwobi (illness) on the bench.

Arsenal XI: Ospina, Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal, Xhaka, Ramsey, Ox, Walcott, Giroud, Alexis
Subs: Cech, Gibbs, Gabriel, Lucas, Ozil, Coquelin

Let’s hope that this revised team plays a little better than our insipid performance against Liverpool at the weekend….

  1. Bolly from Borehamwood says:

Welbz injured in warm up so Giroud plays- help!

    1. bran99 says:

      Dreams shattered

  2. Wolcott doesn’t create why is he playing ox why is he playing wishful thinking you need quality player with quality decision-making.

  3. Adienl says:

Someone got the statistics for the number of times Walcott is caught offside? I reckon it’s very very high.

  4. i blame Wenger for building the squad but he can do Notting with these player look at the defense in quality

  5. ras911 says:

Honestly good lineup considering our misfortunes. Walcott and Giroud should have out those in! This is no day to miss chances

  6. Ugabooga says:

Sanchez must help monreal out man

  7. Adienl says:

Look at the Ox in midfield. He’s been good there.

  8. When we are not urgent mood giroud is our second best player so we should play urgent all the time

  9. Ugabooga says:

    What a goal

  10. ras911 says:

COME ONN LADS!!!! 3 more!!! lol

  11. Adienl says:

That finish is exquisite. Can’t believe Walcott did that. Damn.

  12. Prove me wrong Wolcott

  13. Bolly from Borehamwood says:

Perhaps the Theo haters can now just shut up!

    1. Adienl says:

The ones calling out him on his inconsistency are hardly haters. And this 1 goal doesn’t prove the ‘haters’ wrong. Lol

    2. goonerboy says:

      @ Bolly…

Is Wenger your Dad??? you seem to take after him in delusion..just asking

    3. muffdiver says:

bolly your stupidity hasnt waned after all this time

  14. Arsenal_Girl says:

    One up, 3 more needed

    1. Robin Vanpayslip says:

The way we defend – probably 7…. …

  15. Ugabooga says:

Sanchez where tf is he in defense

  16. Ronny331 says:

People give Ramsey some cra* but he is a creative player when on it.
Can already see the benefit of leaving out iwobi and coquelin.
    Awesome goal from walcott

    1. Adienl says:

He got the crap for failing to perform consistently and not for performing well once in a blue moon.

  17. Ronny331 says:

Where was Sanchez in that counter attack then?

  18. Adienl says:

That’s an effin penalty. Or did I watch it wrong.

  19. luvdaguns says:

walcott giving defense trouble, when this team is motivated its potent, problem is they are often too flat

  20. playing ox is a mistake look good in position but will not make the right decision

  21. Ugabooga says:

This ref is a bit of a dummy

  22. ras911 says:

We cant be missing all these opportunities come onn!

  23. Ronny331 says:

    Lewandoski so close!
Sanchez not himself, perez on later 🙂

  24. Ugabooga says:

For what ref, omg an ahole

  25. Ugabooga says:

Tbh only sa chez disappointing so far, rest playing well

  26. hecmanx says:

I hope deluded fans are not already singing ” there is only one wenger”

  27. ras911 says:

True everyone playing great but Sanchez is kind of invisible so far and he’s leaving Monreal very exposed

  28. Ronny331 says:

Wenger should have the balls to swap sanchez for perez at half time, this week’s press has clearly effected him.

  29. goonerboy says:

What are you guys expecting?? A 4-0 win????

  30. HA559 says:

Ox looking like the beast he should’ve been, physical and powerful. Walcott also playing good, never thought I’d say that.

    1. goonerboy says:

Of course the bottlers will play well when there is nothing to play for…

Am not surprised Sanchez is not playing well, why didn’t they support him in the first leg??
      Its late already bottlers!

  31. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Apart from Giroud’s impression of the donkey from shrek that was a decent half. If we had a too striker we would be in this tie at the minute.

  32. what is wrong with arsenal fans clearly you people doesn’t understand the game Sanchez is playing well he is passing spreading the ball dictating the game

    1. vinie2000 says:

Agree with you jamaican, Lucas it is 10005 more movile than OG and with theo – Alexis intricate move and pace we can score 2 more.

    2. jp says:

I think it just shows you how many people take commentators/pundits words as their own…

  33. vinie2000 says:

Again people just picking without really seeing what’s going on in the pitch. Yes, sanchez is not racking back as much as he should but also he has created 3 very good passes to score. It is unlucky that Welbeck got sick but I would rather brought Lucas on that flank who has a great understanding with Monreal and moved Sanchez in the centre. there would have been more movement as If any can notice OG it is very static.NO NEW and we hurt Bayern when we use Pace and movement. Any More Ideas? Or we are watching a different game?

  34. Me says:

    Arsenal are rubbish.
5-1 up its foot of the gas for the germans – Arsenal do this every year.
Sooner he is gone the better – perhaps then we might get a tactician in…

  35. Fatboy Gooney says:

Danny Setback? ? only he could manage that.
I can’t believe our boys are still passing the ball backwards ?
I’m expecting the Sparks to fly in the second half, two red cards for them and it’s game on lol
Coyg’s “we got this ” all copyrights belong to NY-Gunner ?

  36. Ronny331 says:

Funny for so long I’ve been saying I’d like to see ox playing in the middle and got shot down in flames. He’s a natural there.

  37. PaddyGooner says:

Ollie should have buried that. Best chance of the match.

  38. Fab says:

How many goals does Theo Walcot scored this season, he seems he could have easily get 20+ this season if Arsene could have not changed his early season starting lineup.

For me this man is not a good dribble but his positional play is very good. He used to score beautiful goals against big teams, the likes of Chelsea, Mancity, ManU and Liverpool

  39. Robin Vanpayslip says:

How much longer do I have to suffer watching Giroud…..

    1. Fab says:

The failures claimed “he is our second best player” with such kind of fans you expect to complete? Never!

  40. luvdaguns says:

aresenal challenging on every ball… why not play like this at least 90% of the season? giroud missed a simple sitter, jumped too early, wheres theo in half two?

  41. rkw says:

Sad that giroud has been able to retain an arsenal shirt for so long … Conversely why did it take so long for wenger to find the right spot for ox …

    End of game now

    1. luvdaguns says:

      5 years of giroud, nothing…

  42. luvdaguns says:

    easy call, game, set match…

  43. Ronny331 says:

Game over then 🙁 now bring on perez

  44. mark says:

    Dodgy ref.

  45. Adienl says:

And the foul on Walcott wasn’t penalty. Die you referees

  46. goonerboy says:

    Red card!!!! There you go…lol…

  47. Ronny331 says:

    The referee’s a wan*er!!

  48. ras911 says:

Foul on walcott was nothing but this is a red plus penalty. Good job.

  49. ras911 says:

    Koscienly out again. 5-1

  50. mark says:

Never have I seen a ref want one team to win..

  51. i blame Wenger for building this squad but the player keep letting each other down

  52. jp says:

so the ref gave a yellow… then it looks like the official behind the goal has told the ref it’s a red card foul…. huh?

  53. goonerboy says:

    Anything new here?????

“We were still in the game but the red card made it difficult”..

    1. jp says:

      …are you feeling ok? lol

      1. goonerboy says:

I think you are the sick one matey..

  54. mr.brightside says:

    I hate this entire sport

    1. Adienl says:

And it’s all in my head, but she’s touching his chest now..

      1. mr.brightside says:

        thats right !!!! : D

  55. gunnerman8701 says:

Why would anyone in their right mind think Arsenal will make magic??? This game was lost 2 weeks ago. Would be easier for the players not to turn up and save the energy. It’s Arsenal for crying out loud, there’s no spine!!

  56. RSH says:

The tie was over two weeks ago so not much to get upset about anymore

  57. luvdaguns says:

    lovin that run by ox,

  58. Ronny331 says:

Don’t care about the card that’s what we want to see from the players,(ox, frustration and fight).

  59. gmv8 says:

Should swear at that referee in German … won’t get a card then…

  60. Disturbance says:

Terrible refereeing. Why am I not surprised…

  61. Ronny331 says:

It’s not the sort of game for giroud get him off. He can play some minutes against lincoln

  62. rkw says:

Anyone watching could see arsenal are well below Bayern’s level … Wenger is a has been and has been for 5 years … Need a complete refit … Wenger giroud Walcott Ramsey Monreal are no brainers for departure … Would keep bellerin though boy has his form dropped this season and xhaka though he needs to up his game big time … Sanchez has gone and ozil might follow … We can thank the delusional one for this legacy …sad!

    1. PaddyGooner says:

Bellerin cant seem to cross though

  63. Ronny331 says:

    Perez perez perez!
Has Wenger not seen the on pitch chemistry between Sanchez and perez?
We need pace to push them back.

  64. luvdaguns says:

remember we were discussing getting lewendowski… imagine…. 30 goals already…

  65. This bayern team is very weak they doesn’t defend very well

  66. Adienl says:

These referees are a joke. A bunch of clowns.

  67. goonerboy says:

    Stat time pls;

How many red card and penalties have we had against Bayern in recent reasons???

And how many have we received in round of 16 altogether???

  68. sun says:

it does seem a little dodgy that 10 minutes after the red there is no explanation yet… I guess they’re still thinking of one. lol

  69. Fab says:

Roben is a lier, he said he is tired of doing that

  70. PaddyGooner says:

Very poor decision making by Ospina

  71. gmv8 says:

To be fair I don’t think this is Arsenals fault – the biased refereeing is unvelievable. We just musn’t let our heads drop.

  72. PaddyGooner says:

    Ah! Perez at last!

  73. muffdiver says:

    nice – calibre confirmed

  74. goonerboy says:

We can’t go past Monaco and we expect to go past Bayern, wake up!!!

Wenger wants to drain and undo ALL the honour we have as a football club, this is a disgrace.
We have officially become a joke

  75. goonerboy says:

  79. PaddyGooner says:

Soon as I saw Xhaka out of place I knew that was coming.

    1. RSH says:

As soon as Monreal did that useless pass back I knew it was trouble. We had an attack going and he just killed it for no reason and then we do more silly passes

  80. muffdiver says:

    8-2 t say it

joke that is arsenal in europe

    is now confirmed

  81. muffdiver says:

  82. Bob2 says:

  87. muffdiver says:

    wenger i blame u and only u.

  93. sun says:

    lol.. at the comments here…
Up to where Kos gets sent off its the refs who are doing bad… after Kos gets sent off it becomes Wengers fault. lol

    1. gmv8 says:

You’re right – Wenger threw n the towel when pulled off Alexis, he didn’t care about the result, although I still think we should’ve played for pride.

  94. JJT says:

This is a DISGRACE. If he isn’t sacked in the morning then it’s clear evidence that this club has ZERO ambition!

  95. Big Gun says:

  96. mark says:
