Official team news and preview of Liverpool v Arsenal

It did not take a lot of thought to work out what the Arsenal starting line-up for the Premier League away clash with Liverpool would be. As soon as we heard that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had passed a late fitness test yesterday, Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal team almost picked itself.

Because of all the injury problems which have left the boss with little option in central midfield or the back four, Wenger has at least got two first choice full backs in Kieran Gibbs and Mathieu Debuchy, with Calum Chambers set yto partner Mertesacker in the centre of our defence.

Their biggest task today will be to keep Raheem Sterling as quiet as possible as Brendan Rodgers keeps the youngster in the centre of his attack. He is also sticking with a back three with Sakho taking the place of LOvren on the left of his back line. The Arsenal front three of Alexis, Welbeck and Giroud should be able to give them a torrid time with Cazorla providing craft and guile behind them.

Flamini and the Ox have a big job today to stop Gerrard, Henderson, Lucas and Markovic from controlling the midfield but as long as they can cope with that, Arsenal should have a much better day than the last time we were here.

  1. Why can’t we just be consistent? We blow Galatasaray and Newcastle away, now we’re back to how we played against Stoke.

  6. All you negative poster boys go support another team or stay behind the team through and through. Stop judging play by play you sound like 10 year olds with temper tantrums, leave that for the pundits they’re getting paid to do so.

    1-1 half time, when Walcott comes in the game is going to be flipped on its head so just be patient and enjoy this Sunday game 🙂 have a beer or two to calm your nerves.

  8. We have been absolutely disgraceful in that first half, as we usually are away to these sort of teams, I’m glad we’re level but undeservedly, hope Wenger gives them a f*cking rocket at half time.

  12. From my perspective, Welbeck and Giroud can’t decide who’s on the wing and who is central, so half the time we have no one on the wing and it’s really distorting the balance of the team.

  13. Life line that we don’t deserve.. What the hell was that first half about?.. No nothing at all.. Cazorla, The Ox, Giroud, Welbeck, Sanchez, Flamini etc all looking rubbish.. I thought the first 15-20 minutes it is fine for the home team to have the better start, but it has carried on fir the whole 45 minutes..

    We are truly big game bottlers..

  14. Awful first half whole team looks flat. Lucky we scored from that set peice. We better up the tempo second half

  15. Horrible performance. I would understand if the tactic would be letting Liverpool run out of steam in the first 30 minutes but the amount of misplaced passes is beyond me.

    I really, really hope Wenger has something else for the second half..

  17. Considering how badly we’ve played, 1-1, especially in the fashion that it happened is a good first half outcome.

    Hopefully that late goal pumps us up, and takes the wind out of Liverpool’s sails a bit. Sfter Liverpool scored it would’ve pumped them up, solidfying a great first half for them, then our equaliser was a big momentum killer for them hopefully.

    Need a better second half, COYG!

  19. First time I am confident we will win this. We are so good, the first 45 mins we can’t even reach their 6 yards box and we got one goal, next goal we will win.

  24. We got to keep possession and control the tempo of the game in the second half. If we allow Liverpool to dictate we will be punished.

  26. I still dont understand why Wenger believes The OX can play in CDM position, he doesnt have the positioning needed for a CDM,,,,, And Flamini has been awful,, always lost

  27. Might be worth subbing off one of Giroud or Welbeck for Coquelin, trying to break up play in the middle and putting Cazorla or Ox out wide.

    With Liverpool effectively having 7 able to attack, we can afford to sacrifice a striker to protect the middle and still have enough to get at them when we go forward.

    They’ve had way too much room up the middle, we need to address that before it stings us.

  31. I want to see Podolski and Walcott brought in but we were only allowed 3 subs and I’m worried about Flamini. Flamini looks more like a liability.

    I think sub Flamini and wait 10-15 minutes to see How Giroud and Welbeck do. Then sub one of them.

  32. realistically, this team look like a team without Ozil, Theo, Jack, Ramsey, Kos and Even Arteta, too much talent on the injury table. only a matter of time before flamini gets red, very frustrating…

  33. Hope Wenger understands that we’re only a yellow card away from making this game a disaster. We need a reshuffle in the 2nd half. Flamini should be substituted, but who takes his place?

  34. I’d say we need to take either wellbeck or giroud off and put an extra midfielder on because we are being overrun..
    Can we play any worse..? Hope not..!

  35. Coquelin for flamini, Campbell for giroud.
    Push welbeck up top have campbell and sanchez on the wings and really go for it. Cazorla in behind with coquelin and Ox behind

  43. Wenger post game comments:- we purposely let them have the ball and dominated the whole game, we just a need one chance to win the game, that is our game plan we have planned.
