Official teams and preview for Arsenal v Man United

Arsene Wenger must have been mightily relieved when the in form England striker Danny Welbeck passed his late fitness test and as expected, the Frenchman has stuck with the pacy and hard working front man instead of bringing back Olivier Giroud who has made an early return to fitness and is on the bench to face Manchester United today.

Louis van Gaal has had some good news of his own, with De Gea, Shaw and Di Maria all in the starting line up after their own injury concerns, but their back four still looks weak, and the Gunners will hope that it is the visitorโ€™s defence rather than our own which is the most busy.

One surprise in the Arsenal line-up is that both our box to box midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere start, while the club captain Mikel Arteta also comes into the team after recovering from his little knock. So maybe Wenger is going for four midfielders in front of the Spaniard, with Alexis and the Ox offering pace and power on the flanks.

Chambers, Mertesacker, Monreal, Gibbs
Alexis, Ramsey, Wilshere, Chamberlain

subs: Martinez, Bellerin, Flamini, Rosicky, Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud

There are plenty of attacking options on the bench for the Gunners, while United cannot really say the same and that could end ip making the difference, although we all hope that the result is sealed in our favour before that. But this could be a day when patience and nerves are the key factors. Come on Arsenal, you can do this!!

  1. juhislihis says:

Of course Gomis bobbles his chance against City but not against us! Of course Shelvey can’t make it from the free kick but Sigurdsson can, against us!

Only win will do today, WENGER DO IT.

    1. muffdiver says:

just once i wanna see robin van persie lose against us- just ONCE.

welbeck goal would be a bonus ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Dan.M says:

Hope welbeck can link the play run in behind and bury his chances

  3. ThirdManJW says:

Canโ€™t believe Chambers and Monreal are out of position still. Yet again itโ€™s another fantastic example of Wengerโ€™s incompetence. Letโ€™s keep doing what hasnโ€™t been working by a country mile. As always he refuses to learn from his mistakes. Weโ€™re missing just one CB, yet Wenger feels this is enough of a crisis to put a LB at CB! You just wouldnโ€™t see this at any level, even Sunday league football. If we had three CBโ€™s out, then yes I could understand, but one! How often have we seen the likes of Clichy, Evra, and Cole play regularly at CB?

If I thought for just one minute that Wenger might actually learn something in defeat, then I wouldnโ€™t mind ManU stuffing us if it would lead to Wenger not making basic mistakes any more. But that will never happen. At least heโ€™s finally dropped Santi, but then again, how long did that take and how many points did it cost us?

Iโ€™m sorry for being so negative guys, but we havenโ€™t won a single big match this season because of basic errors from Wenger.

  4. vijaygunner says:

chambers vs di maria huh?! well atleast sanchez can trackback and offer his some support. Lets smash em!!!

    1. Dan.M says:

We need him as far up as possible otherwise we are toothless

  5. nygooner says:

    COYG…. absolutely massive

  6. SoOpa AeoN says:

    i don’t understand this new Arsenal Line-up anyLonger…….perhaps after 90mins, i would!

  7. muffdiver says:

    20 mins woooo.

feel like augustus gloop arrivin to the chocolate factory

  8. Sumo says:

I am nervous as fcuk. See you all after the game.

  9. juhislihis says:

Man United, along with QPR only team without away wins. Arsenal haven’t lost at home since A Villa 2013?

Draw written all over it but once again I’m praying we come through.

    1. juhislihis says:

Oh and listening to unbiased pundits of my native country talking about how disgraceful and unheard of is it for a top club manager publicly admit how no one can stop Chelsea and how Arsenal is out of the title race, in NOVEMBER.

Also what kind of effect can that have in the dressing room when we have World Cup winning players and Sanchez from Barcelona (used to winning and fighting for trophies) in our team. They are talking about the message Wenger sends to his own players admitting defeat in the title race after 11 rounds. Couldn’t agree more.

  10. john0711 says:

Every game and every transfer window I think” wenger will learn from this and change” and every time I’m disappointed same lack of transfers, same team, Monreal CB ๐Ÿ™
I will support our boys, but whatever the result WENGER OUT the man just doesn’t see the obvious anymore

  11. Twig says:

The United attack really looks scary ๐Ÿ™

    1. nygooner says:

true, but their defense does not

      1. john0711 says:

Agree with you both Ny Gooner and Twig, just wish we had a more solid look, I’m getting desperate just to keep up with Southampton , never thought I would say that

  12. Ronny331 says:

Nervous and excited no idea what scoreline to expect here!
Lets go at them hard and fast!
    One concern – PER / Monreal ๐Ÿ™
Can we score from a corner today? would be good ๐Ÿ™‚
Per no wondering off up the pitch please.

  13. fred cowardly says:

    Everything Wenger wants, we don’t
chambers instead of Bellerin at RB
Monreal instead of Chambers at CB
    Ramsey and Wilshere together

Wenger is against changing and being dynamic. Very stubborn man.

  14. Ronny331 says:

Battle of the Cr*p defences today, game will be won by the side who’s other players best protect their back lines and maybe a moment of magic or two.

  15. ras911 says:

    It’s time boys! COYG!!!!

  16. Robin Vanpayslip says:

    Hahahahahaha Chambers just did Fellaini

  17. Robin Vanpayslip says:

I think we might be pressing high. Not sure. Not really used to seeing this.

  18. Mick The Gooner says:

As synical as it sounds, it’s quite refreshing seeing another team have an injury crisis for once – a distraction from our own.

  19. R3iGN 95 says:

    Chamberlain is world class

  20. Arse11 says:

It looks like that Chamberlain is “on fire”! Come you gunners!!!

  21. nygooner says:

    jack u twat

  22. R3iGN 95 says:

    We will never get penalties

  23. Mick The Gooner says:

Oh Wilshere… That was a great chance, shame it didn’t come off but encouraging creative play and work rate!

  24. juhislihis says:

This is why we can’t win big teams. We bobble chances like that. Seriously, 5 meters away Jack.

  25. ras911 says:

  26. Ronny331 says:

We’ve got to make this pressure count with a goal, you just know Vann Gall will tactically adjust at half time.
    2-0 at 45 minutes please ๐Ÿ™‚
    Jack keep playing like this!

  27. CraigZWE says:

How did Jack miss an open goal.

Everyone is on fire for us, the team is pressing not just Sanchez and Welbeck.

If we could play 90 minutes like this every game, unstoppable

  28. Charlie Nick says:

    Well played Arteta

  29. lysander says:

wilshere what a sh*t. how can you miss that

  30. Charlie Nick says:

    Nananana Girooooud

  31. Ronny331 says:

Positive play, really good got to score quickly not sure we can keep up this tempo.
Why cant we play like this every week?
    Blooming DeGea ๐Ÿ™

  32. Raja Danish says:

That must had been a goal for us what a miss by wilshere should have crossed left to sanchez to tap in but we are playing excellent up till now keep carry on guys but don’t miss these chances please

  33. Ronny331 says:

Keep pumping the ball at Degea he looks in pain with his finger ๐Ÿ™‚

  34. Mick The Gooner says:

Lack of clinical finishing but our creative play is actually looking decent for the first time this season.

  35. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Jack’s grass eating addiction must stop!

  36. Ronny331 says:

No longer Sanchez FC? ๐Ÿ™‚ Love it!

    1. juhislihis says:

Now it’s FC De Gea vs Bunch of others

  37. haywill says:

we should sell diaby and buy the gea ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™

  38. nygooner says:

we need a lead before half

  39. Ronny331 says:

Got to make one of these corners count.
When in and around the box Shoooooot!

    1. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Not happening if Wack Wilshere takes them

  40. R3iGN 95 says:

    No point winning corners.

  41. Ronny331 says:

come on Welbeck lets have a goal in honour of Van Gall!
    Calm it Jack!

  42. john0711 says:

Love the way we started keep it away from our defence and close to theirs, but we have to score not 1 but 2

  43. juhislihis says:

Wilshere’s red will end our game..

    1. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Him being on thepitch already is

      1. juhislihis says:

Jack and Ramsey are trying way, way too hard. It’s getting to the point when they are extremely selfish. Aaron seems like nobody told him we’re not playing the 13-14 season anymore.

        1. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Ramsey has lost his way. In a way he is two years behind his age in playing time and it shows.

  44. nygooner says:

jack u hot headed bum relax

  45. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Fellaini got murked by a midget

  46. Mick The Gooner says:

Lucky not to see Jack sent off there

  47. nygooner says:

Wilshere trying to do a Zidane on Materazzi

  48. captinweestain says:

    We must defeat Manure.

  49. Ronny331 says:

If we go in half time at 0-0, (or worse) our heads will go down, we must score this half!

  50. Ronny331 says:

    @captainweestain. AHMEN! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. captinweestain says:

Yes because Wenger’s half time team talk his shite.

  51. Mesut O-grillz says:

    Fellaini. What a punk.

  52. captinweestain says:

Why aren’t we winning, were all over them.

  53. Justsoccerfan says:

Since like MU want us to win. Most of the team play us will press us but MU just let us attack, they don’t even try to break our play.

  54. captinweestain says:

    Rambo…what’s happened ?

  55. Mick The Gooner says:

    Thank you Chambers..

  56. Ronny331 says:

well done chambers! Now don’t let that happen again.
    Our ascendency is dropping ๐Ÿ™

  57. captinweestain says:

Taking the pi$$, i can’t Watch Arsenal of late.

  58. Mesut O-grillz says:

This is why we gotta capitalize on these opportunities. We will get exposed on counters and/or set pieces.

  59. captinweestain says:

I actually want to watch match of the day with a win for once.
    Seems a life time ago

  60. Charlie Nick says:

    Goal now would be good…

  61. Ronny331 says:

How many more chances do we need? ๐Ÿ™ We’ll see Giroud late on 2nd half.

  62. haywill says:

    giroudn wouldve scored that ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™

  63. captinweestain says:

    Welbeck tried a Henry

  64. CraigZWE says:

Wish we had Ozil and Theo to come on.

Theos pace and finishing, Ozil pin point passing.

We playing really well, but can only imagine Ozil slicing then open.

    1. juhislihis says:

Jack and ร–zil, neither of them can shoot but the other one knows when to release a pass.

Jesus, so frustrated. It should be 2-0 already. Jack or Ramsey needs to go off but the question is, for whom? They can’t play together. Their selfishness together is one too much.

      1. juhislihis says:

Damn, check Sanchez reaction after Wilshere decided not to assist after the de Gea blunder. Oh my..

        1. Mesut O-grillz says:

yeah I saw that lol, but Sanchez had a good point

      2. CraigZWE says:

Is he even on the bench.

  65. Usmanov says:

Half-time, Van Gaal will make changes. We should have scored in the first-half.

  66. captinweestain says:

Man u deffo playing for the draw, we must defeat this rubbish united side.
    At all cost.

  67. CraigZWE says:

Chambers bounced back today, not always easy after a horrid game (Montego).

    Keep it up Chambers

    1. Mesut O-grillz says:

but if van Gaal switches Di Maria to the left, Chambers could be in trouble.

  68. Mick The Gooner says:

Should be at least 2-0 up, hope it doesn’t cost us in the end

  69. CraigZWE says:

Really, Man U would be in relegation zone if not for De Gea

  70. Twig says:

Damn. Our play looks so chaotic and unorganized. Our players really need to be calm when they get opportunities to score :/

  71. Ronny331 says:

Van Gall will get his sh*t together now.
Damn we needed to score in that half.
COYG, please let today be the day we beat MU.

  72. captinweestain says:

Well that was rubbish, kebab time, this is gonna end ugly, i feel it.
    Kebab will cheer me up.

  73. vijaygunner says:

Mike dean? seriously mike f**king dean?!

    1. captinweestain says:

Yep Fergies best pal, and he loves/supports united, he also hates Arsenal.

      All facts.

We need to score 2 otherwise we might see injury time go into the 10 minute mark (untill they score)

  74. Usmanov says:

We were always gonna r*pe Man U’s back 3 (see Galatasary).
But how did we not score?????

  75. Dennis says:

    No Campbell
    No Poldi
    No Rosicky

Instead we have players that cannot finish chances.

  76. HA559 says:

    Welbeck 3 chances 0 goals
    Wilshere 2 chances 0 goals
    Chamberlain 1 chance 0 goal.

    1. Mesut O-grillz says:

Arsenal life as we know it.

  77. HA559 says:

We should be winning 3-0 already.

  78. john0711 says:

I know I’m stating the obvious but we HAVE to win this, a draw is not good enough, wish Jackson Martinez was up front, we have to keep pressing and go for the win pppplllleeeeeaaaasssseeee.

  79. Lethal Prince 9 says:

Even Wenger is up at the sidelines.
Motivating the players but seriously should have put atleast one of the chances. Atleassssst one.

  80. Big Gun says:

Their danger man today is Di Maria, Gibbs is containing him but one slip might cost us. Overall we are playing well but I feel we took our foot off for the last 15 mins. We need to get aggressive again, put lots of pressure and just fight for everything. United are looking the worst I have ever seen them in 30 years…today is the day we must beat them. COA

  81. Ronny331 says:

    MU 4-4-2, or 4-2-3-1 2nd half?

  82. captinweestain says:

    100% pen
    100% no red card

    C’mon u Gooners

  83. Ronny331 says:

Degea off at half time? hope so that only leaves 1 available sub for MU.

  84. Usmanov says:

Sanchez is playing below his 110%, yet his pressing all over the place and destroying Valencia!

    1. muffdiver says:

two 15 hour flights. 2 full 90 mins played in friendlies in a week.

sanchez should not even be playin- like we have a choice tho lol

  85. GOONSTER says:

That’s why Wilshere is so far off a finished article.. He had 2 good chances but poor shots… He needs to work on his goal scoring..

Where is WELBECK he is spending more time outside the penalty box than inside it. He is a striker and must spend more time making runs in the middle..

  86. HA559 says:

Podolski can score in this game.

    1. muffdiver says:

  87. captinweestain says:

  88. Ronny331 says:

Sanchez is playing well considering his jet lag!
COYG, lets all buckle up! No nails left now.

  89. Mesut O-grillz says:

Alexis would have way more assists if his teammates were telepathic.

  90. captinweestain says:

    aghhh cmon

  91. captinweestain says:

Rooney and Dein have bum sex

  92. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Are we actually going to score today?

  93. captinweestain says:

Should have passed it, instead he went for the brick wall.

  94. juhislihis says:

Wilshere’s ankle got twisted really bad. Don’t wanna sound like a d*ck but it was due to him again holding too long for the ball..

    1. captinweestain says:

You’re not being wrong at all, he causes injury to him self, he attracts these kinda of tackles, why not release the ball quicker, we’ve seen this time and time again.

  95. captinweestain says:

CDM for wilshire, he doesn’t get injured then

  96. Ronny331 says:

Arguably our best player today in Jack off, Cazorla or Rosicky?
Jack will be out for ages now ๐Ÿ™

    1. Ljungberg's Cool Red Hair says:

      Wilshere was s*hit

  97. Mick The Gooner says:

I’d have gone for Rosicky over Cazorla, Rosicky drives forward more rather than passing.

  98. R3iGN 95 says:

Hope he gets well soon. Well done lad!
