Official teams and preview for Arsenal v Man United

Arsene Wenger must have been mightily relieved when the in form England striker Danny Welbeck passed his late fitness test and as expected, the Frenchman has stuck with the pacy and hard working front man instead of bringing back Olivier Giroud who has made an early return to fitness and is on the bench to face Manchester United today.

Louis van Gaal has had some good news of his own, with De Gea, Shaw and Di Maria all in the starting line up after their own injury concerns, but their back four still looks weak, and the Gunners will hope that it is the visitor’s defence rather than our own which is the most busy.

One surprise in the Arsenal line-up is that both our box to box midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere start, while the club captain Mikel Arteta also comes into the team after recovering from his little knock. So maybe Wenger is going for four midfielders in front of the Spaniard, with Alexis and the Ox offering pace and power on the flanks.

Szczesny
Chambers, Mertesacker, Monreal, Gibbs
Arteta
Alexis, Ramsey, Wilshere, Chamberlain
Welbeck

subs: Martinez, Bellerin, Flamini, Rosicky, Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud

There are plenty of attacking options on the bench for the Gunners, while United cannot really say the same and that could end ip making the difference, although we all hope that the result is sealed in our favour before that. But this could be a day when patience and nerves are the key factors. Come on Arsenal, you can do this!!

  1. Of course Gomis bobbles his chance against City but not against us! Of course Shelvey can’t make it from the free kick but Sigurdsson can, against us!

Only win will do today, WENGER DO IT.

  2. Can’t believe Chambers and Monreal are out of position still. Yet again it’s another fantastic example of Wenger’s incompetence. Let’s keep doing what hasn’t been working by a country mile. As always he refuses to learn from his mistakes. We’re missing just one CB, yet Wenger feels this is enough of a crisis to put a LB at CB! You just wouldn’t see this at any level, even Sunday league football. If we had three CB’s out, then yes I could understand, but one! How often have we seen the likes of Clichy, Evra, and Cole play regularly at CB?

If I thought for just one minute that Wenger might actually learn something in defeat, then I wouldn’t mind ManU stuffing us if it would lead to Wenger not making basic mistakes any more. But that will never happen. At least he’s finally dropped Santi, but then again, how long did that take and how many points did it cost us?

I’m sorry for being so negative guys, but we haven’t won a single big match this season because of basic errors from Wenger.

  3. chambers vs di maria huh?! well atleast sanchez can trackback and offer his some support. Lets smash em!!!

  4. Man United, along with QPR only team without away wins. Arsenal haven’t lost at home since A Villa 2013?

Draw written all over it but once again I’m praying we come through.

    1. Oh and listening to unbiased pundits of my native country talking about how disgraceful and unheard of is it for a top club manager publicly admit how no one can stop Chelsea and how Arsenal is out of the title race, in NOVEMBER.

Also what kind of effect can that have in the dressing room when we have World Cup winning players and Sanchez from Barcelona (used to winning and fighting for trophies) in our team. They are talking about the message Wenger sends to his own players admitting defeat in the title race after 11 rounds. Couldn’t agree more.

  5. Every game and every transfer window I think” wenger will learn from this and change” and every time I’m disappointed same lack of transfers, same team, Monreal CB 🙁
I will support our boys, but whatever the result WENGER OUT the man just doesn’t see the obvious anymore

      1. Agree with you both Ny Gooner and Twig, just wish we had a more solid look, I’m getting desperate just to keep up with Southampton , never thought I would say that

  6. Nervous and excited no idea what scoreline to expect here!
Lets go at them hard and fast!
    One concern – PER / Monreal 🙁
Can we score from a corner today? would be good 🙂
Per no wondering off up the pitch please.

  7. Everything Wenger wants, we don’t
chambers instead of Bellerin at RB
Monreal instead of Chambers at CB
    Ramsey and Wilshere together

Wenger is against changing and being dynamic. Very stubborn man.

  8. Battle of the Cr*p defences today, game will be won by the side who’s other players best protect their back lines and maybe a moment of magic or two.

  9. As synical as it sounds, it’s quite refreshing seeing another team have an injury crisis for once – a distraction from our own.

  10. Oh Wilshere… That was a great chance, shame it didn’t come off but encouraging creative play and work rate!

  11. We’ve got to make this pressure count with a goal, you just know Vann Gall will tactically adjust at half time.
    2-0 at 45 minutes please 🙂
    Jack keep playing like this!

  12. How did Jack miss an open goal.

Everyone is on fire for us, the team is pressing not just Sanchez and Welbeck.

If we could play 90 minutes like this every game, unstoppable

  13. Positive play, really good got to score quickly not sure we can keep up this tempo.
Why cant we play like this every week?
    COYG!!
    Blooming DeGea 🙁

  14. That must had been a goal for us what a miss by wilshere should have crossed left to sanchez to tap in but we are playing excellent up till now keep carry on guys but don’t miss these chances please

  15. Lack of clinical finishing but our creative play is actually looking decent for the first time this season.

  16. Love the way we started keep it away from our defence and close to theirs, but we have to score not 1 but 2

      1. Jack and Ramsey are trying way, way too hard. It’s getting to the point when they are extremely selfish. Aaron seems like nobody told him we’re not playing the 13-14 season anymore.

  17. Since like MU want us to win. Most of the team play us will press us but MU just let us attack, they don’t even try to break our play.

  18. This is why we gotta capitalize on these opportunities. We will get exposed on counters and/or set pieces.

  19. Wish we had Ozil and Theo to come on.

Theos pace and finishing, Ozil pin point passing.

We playing really well, but can only imagine Ozil slicing then open.

    1. Jack and Özil, neither of them can shoot but the other one knows when to release a pass.

Jesus, so frustrated. It should be 2-0 already. Jack or Ramsey needs to go off but the question is, for whom? They can’t play together. Their selfishness together is one too much.

  20. Damn. Our play looks so chaotic and unorganized. Our players really need to be calm when they get opportunities to score :/

  21. Van Gall will get his sh*t together now.
Damn we needed to score in that half.
COYG, please let today be the day we beat MU.

    1. Yep Fergies best pal, and he loves/supports united, he also hates Arsenal.

      All facts.

We need to score 2 otherwise we might see injury time go into the 10 minute mark (untill they score)

  22. I know I’m stating the obvious but we HAVE to win this, a draw is not good enough, wish Jackson Martinez was up front, we have to keep pressing and go for the win pppplllleeeeeaaaasssseeee.

  23. Even Wenger is up at the sidelines.
Motivating the players but seriously should have put atleast one of the chances. Atleassssst one.

  24. Their danger man today is Di Maria, Gibbs is containing him but one slip might cost us. Overall we are playing well but I feel we took our foot off for the last 15 mins. We need to get aggressive again, put lots of pressure and just fight for everything. United are looking the worst I have ever seen them in 30 years…today is the day we must beat them. COA

    1. two 15 hour flights. 2 full 90 mins played in friendlies in a week.

sanchez should not even be playin- like we have a choice tho lol

  25. That’s why Wilshere is so far off a finished article.. He had 2 good chances but poor shots… He needs to work on his goal scoring..

Where is WELBECK he is spending more time outside the penalty box than inside it. He is a striker and must spend more time making runs in the middle..

  26. Wilshere’s ankle got twisted really bad. Don’t wanna sound like a d*ck but it was due to him again holding too long for the ball..

    1. You’re not being wrong at all, he causes injury to him self, he attracts these kinda of tackles, why not release the ball quicker, we’ve seen this time and time again.
