Official teams and Preview of Arsenal at Leicester

After a slightly slow start to the season, Arsenal have a great chance to go into the international break just two points off the top of the Premier League with a win at newly promoted Leicester City. But Arsene Wenger still has a few injury concerns and a few selection issues to make.

The big team news is that the Frenchman has brought Yaya Sanogo back into the centre forward position to replace the injured Giroud, moving the Chile international Alexis Sanchez back out to the right. Wenger has also dropped Jack Wilshere and stuck with Santi Cazorla on the left, although Podolski, Campbell and Chamberlain are on the bench.

Szczesny
Debuchy, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal
Flamini, Ramsey
Sanchez, Ozil, Cazorla
Sanogo

subs: Martinez, Chambers, Wilshere, Rosicky, Chamberlain, Campbell, Podolski

The bench looks a bit light defensively and I am surprised that Hector Bellerin is not on there, but the versatility of Chambers could be the reason for that. It looks like the Gunners are set up to control the ball and push Leicester back.

We certainly have the players to take all three points today, as long as we play to our strengths and do not let the home side get into their stride early on. Hopefully our young French striker can produce the sort of form that saw him score four goals against Benfica in pre-season and fire the Gunners above the spuds. COYG.

    1. why all the sudden wenger has lost that little belief he had in Podolski? He is not even starting today? ummmmm

        1. Let us not run down and demoralize our team. How old is Sterling and the other S of Liverfool? Who scored today for them? Who were they two seasons ago? Am sure if one of the Ss is available, you will suggest we buy. Am backing anyone wearing my team’s shirt to do well. Sanogo will score along with others and I will dance. 3-0 to the Arsenals. COYGS.

    1. So did I .. Isn’t that the reason we signed players like ozil and cazorla .. Not to play in behind sanogo no disrespect to the guy

  1. I like the team!! and the bench looks also impresive..but wouldnt mind one more defender benched…

  2. If we are up at half time, I would bring Campbell on and take Santi off. Give the guy some game time. Also, I have a funny feeling Sanogo will score today.

  3. Hopefully Wenger will see today that Sanogo is not good enough and will sign a world class forward before tomorrow night.

  4. If Sonogo gets a hattrick tonight there will be no new striker. Ok no hattrick but you know what i mean 😛

  5. Wenger will bring the likes of Wilshere and Ox on as impact and give Chambers a run out at CDM to replace Flamini in the latter stage of the game perhaps?

    1. Me too, haha the guy won’t make it, if Wenger thinks we can win he league with him upfront as our main striker with Giroud injured then he’s got dimensure.

  6. Why is Campbell or Ox not playing.

Ozil and Carzola must be rotated and either Ox or Campbell on left.

now we will continue to have weak left side defensively.

  7. @aussiegooner. spot on Sanogo scores a brace and Arsene is so happy he decides we need to sign no players!!

  8. Kroenke’s in the stadium. Maybe Wenger want’s to try and prove to Kroenke he does’nt need to spend on a striker and that Sanogo is good enough.

  9. Kos looks like he’s in a lot of pain. Good thing we have so many players who can play at CB …. Oh wait.

    We look completely asleep today

  10. Sanchez, this guy a real fighter.

he takes responsiblity when he loses ball. rest must take note

    1. Pissing me off playing Özil out of position all the time. I don’t know when Wenger is going to get it.

  11. @Matt. When is Wenger and all the fans going to realise Mert is shi*e!!
As soon as I see him on the team sheet I’m worried and 3 games after we bought him I could see he was not Arsenal quality.
How can everyone not see this? he’s in the running for the worst CB in the PL!

  12. Yeah lets sell our German international world cup winning CB. Makes sense. He has the best denfesive vision in the bpl i say, slow yeah, but so was Adams

  13. man, am i glad alexi sanchez is a gunner, that guy has a motor that does not stop running, going to enjoy a lot of years of sanchez

  14. Mertesacker back to his old self… He is making me nervous.

And the whole team as a whole look so off pace, sorry but we look ordinary.

  15. Well first half tells me Wenger must buy Carvalho, a Cb and a striker, still no change.
Carvalho, that greek defender, and a loanee falcoa, cavani 😉

  16. Cazorla looking shite just like all season so far, Sanogo is just a nobody, Ramsey believing his own hype, no pace, we can’t counter, no clinical striker, we lack so much in our team it’s disgraceful.

  17. LISTEN HERE AW U BETTER START SPENDING WE LOOK LIKE A CHAMPIONSHIP DIV TEAM, & SONOGOAL IZ NOT READY TO B OUR STRIKER COME ON AW SPEND SPEND SPEND !!!!!

  18. Using Ozil on the wings is a crime. Wenger for F. sake, get Chamberlain on the wings and also use Rosicky. And whats up with this old geezer not wanting to start Poldi at least on the Lw.

    1. seriously… he almost gave away a 2nd goal, yet everyone on here jumps on Mertesacker. So much bias its embarrassing…

      1. Since you brought up the potential 2nd goal, I’m sure you don’t need to be reminded that it was Mertesacker who actually gave the equaliser to Leicester. Lost his man, couldn’t run and was found in No Man’s Land.

Try not to generalise your comments. Thank you.

    1. Wenger will say when we signed Sanogo he was injured for 6 months and his goal scoring record
before his injury was a goal in every game. He has been built his muscle in order to be physically
strong. He has improved a lot and don’t forget he scored 4 goals against Benfica. It’s only a matter
of time when he scores his first goal he will score every weak.
Wenger is clearly being biased towards the French connection therefore he is giving opportunity to useless Sanogo ahead of better players Campbell and Akpom.

    1. Cazorla definitely has to be subbed. He has been awful since the season started. With him off, Özil can flourish.

  19. Don’t understand why wenger doesn’t wanna play Campbell. I mean, this kid has a much greater potential than sano”goal”

    1. Because Sanogo is french. No other reason. Do u think if Falcao was french he wouldn’t have got him already? Webber has killed us this season. Other teams in top four have strengthened and what has he done? He has not improved the team as he should’ve. Chambers for Vermalean, Debunchy for Sagna, Ospina for Fabianski. The only buy is Sanchez. And the defenders brought in are not at the level of the ones that we lost. Should any one wonder why Chelsea is doing well?

    2. Go get BENZEMA right now ! Wenger ! Right now ! Falcaos going r.madrid ! I mean fcuking NOW !!

  20. Sanogo is f*cking shit and belongs back at Auxerre, Wenger only signed him because he’s young and French, May aswell have signed Cinnor Wickam or Andy Carrol, what a joke! Another season scraping fourth although this time we won’t win a trophy.

    1. @angryblackman3
Sanchez is the “benchmark” of how we should be playing. Pressin them in their half agressive both on and off the ball. The rest look like the could care less.
Take off Ozil, put on Rosicky and we’re laughin…

  21. If not UCL or not at Wembley, Cazorla is just so average, doesnt look like he cares. And Sanogo not good enough at all.

    1. spot on mate. cazorla needs five touches to control the ball and is just too over rated. I am p$$$d off at seeing Ozil walk through every match like he doesnt give a S$$t.
only Ramsey and Sanchez look up for it.
