Official teams and preview of Arsenal v Dortmund – Sanogo starts!!

As wellas the injury problems continuing to pile up for Arsenal, with Jack Wilshere out for a while and now both of our first choice keepers unavailable as well as Danny Welbeck. At least Arsene Wenger had the good news about Laurent Koscielny, but the Frenchman has decided not to rush the French centre back and has stuck with the same back four that has struggled in recent games.

Another major talking point is the inclusion in the line up of our young French striker Yaya Sanogo, who is still looking for his firts senior Gunners goal. But his pace and power in the centre forard role means that Wenger does not have to change the system.

There are striking options on the bench, with Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell wjo have both been champing at the bit to get some game time, so let’s hope they take their chance tonight if and when it comes. And we have a new name on the bench, with the teenage keeper Ryan Huddart ready for his debut if anything happens to Martinez.

Martinez
Chambers, Mertesacker, Monreal, Gibbs
Arteta
Alexis, Ramsey, Cazorla, Chamberlain
Sanogo

subs: Huddart, Koscielny, Bellerin, Flamini, Rosicky, Campbell, Podolski

The Gunners are looking seriously weakened but hopefully we will have enough to at least avoid defeat, because we need the point to take the pressure off for the last game in Istanbul. Confident anyone?

Wengers fault jack is always getting injured,,,,Keeps on playing him in CAM role,,,,,, hes wayyy better as a deep lying playmaker,,as shown in ENgland performances,,, hes messing up his career and potential

    1. Tope says:

Stop talking trash man. He sustained is 1st career threatening injury as a deep lying playmaker, remember? What is it with all these england performance noise cos i dont see him doing it against top team like germany, argentina etc. Wait until england face better teams before you start making a fuss about nothing. Re – the topic, we dont event have an option for dm on the bench in case arteta sustain injury. Realistically, i dont fancy us beating dotmund, a draw is possible but this is futbol where anything can happen. COYG!!!

      1. Kay123 says:

Are you stupid,, majority of his recent injuries are from advanced positions,,, and hes only been starting deep recently for england and has managed to adapt in that position after a few games,,All pundits say the same

    2. Kay123 says:

For those disliking,, it is true, Jacks style makes him prone for bad tackles,,, his long ball vision and runs are better from a deep position

      1. Tope says:

1stly, i am not stupid. 2ndly, are you saying deeplying playmaker dont sustained injuries? Man, you are contradicting yourself saying he wont get injured playing as a deeplying playmaker then saying his playing style makes him prone to injuries.the point i am trying to make is wether he plays as a striker,dm,cam, winger etc,he would always sustaing injury because of the same reason you gave-his playing style

        1. Kay123 says:

I said they are better from a deep lying role you idiot,,, otherwise he would be just be running into a brick wall in an advanced position and he can also use his long balls in a deeper position.. Use your bloody brain instead of trying to act smart

  2. BigWilli says:

oh my fukin god, monsieur wenger has still not learned from his mistakes.
Sanogo? Monreal as CB? Chambers RB?

    WOW…
    In Arsene we rust!

    1. Mesut O-grillz says:

Wasn’t it Sanogo who played big at Dortmund away last season? I bet Wenger thinks that he will play even better than that… even though Sanogo just came back from injury and still hasn’t scored for us yet.

    2. DaveJay says:

      You were saying?

  3. juhislihis says:

Sanogo ahead of Campbell and Podolski.. Says it all really.

No offense to lad, he’s not doing anything wrong but Subotic must be trembling right now.

    1. juhislihis says:

has not done* damn typos. Wenger’s fault that as well.

    2. Tidan2 says:

      lol, EAT YOUR WORDS!

  4. Mesut O-grillz says:

Well, at least we got a Campbell sighting on our bench. Hopefully he’ll get some playing time, you know, at the 89th minute.

    1. blugooner says:

Wenger is just hopeless. Arsenal’s nemesis!

  5. orvalentine says:

what have podolski done to deserve this T_T

    1. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Stepped on Wenger’s new white kicks

  6. Brada b says:

Sonogoals starts up front well thats it #arsenal ah doomed #fack Aw & #FreeJoelCampbell u stupid fack!!! ……. #BRAINLESS

    1. Tope says:

What is it with this your freejoelcampbell? Is he one of your family members. Oh! You are a fan of his.dont worry, campbell will show the boss who he really is. Sanogo is injury proned so i dont see him completing 90min. Meaning podoski/rosicky, rosicky/campbell or podosky/campbell would get to play. The problem is they might not get more than 5min- you know wenger and substitution

      1. Brada b says:

@tope no hes not related to but I know talent when I see 1 & this #brainless man iz killing Him on the bench

        1. jonestown1 says:

JC way overrated – TW, AOC and AS all have more talent, who you gonna drop to make way for your hero?

  7. Raja Danish says:

Well this shows the mediocrity of wenger, same players same tactics in every match that shows it all of wenger’s poor decisions, tactics etc every thing.. Now we have to rely on sanogo as our striker for this crucial match this tells it all of our poor season we had top class strikers in the past wright, bergkamp, anelka, henry, rvp but now mediocre strikers sanogo, welbeck, giroud, its a fact not an opinion.. Not supporting wenger any more I am an AOB now a days.. Hope we win tonight not for wenger but for us fans and for our club.. COYG!!.. #Wenger out#

    1. blugooner says:

I hope so too but I know we won’t. Even tho we have scored I’m not cajoled.

  8. red14 says:

So wenger thinks sa no goal is better than podolski… lol

  9. arsenalvienna says:

omg. i see the worst now for the game. monreal as cb against dortmund is a suicide.
podolski on the bench again. please mr wenger leave us alone

  10. Sumo says:

Where is Walcott? He didn’t even make the bench. I would have felt more confident if Koscielny was in there.

    1. Mesut O-grillz says:

      injured or something… i think it’s his hamstring…

  11. Raja Danish says:

Sweet Welcome guys hope u all are fine… Its 12:20 am night 27 november in pakistan, waiting for the match to start at 12:45 am..

  12. Robin Vanpayslip says:

    Sanogo lolololololololol

He might have a cracker but come on. Is now really the time to throw the dice?

  13. Raja Danish says:

I am thinking this will gonna be close and tight contest.. I still think we may get a victory here but just 2-1 for me but very difficult game.. Dortmund are playing excellent in ucl and have a good starting 11 even without reus, hummels.. Fingers crossed and all eyes will be on @jurgen klopp..

  14. Adedayo says:

    I wish ars 3-1 bvb…. Expect ars 1-2 bvb

  15. van_Al says:

Sanogo ahead of Podolski and Campbell ( 2 worldcup players )..We are about to get trashed
    Mark my word
    #wenger out

    1. jonestown1 says:

      Still on suicide watch?

    2. jonestown1 says:

“Mark my word” – yeah OK if you say so.

    3. DaveJay says:

      #van_Al OUT

  16. Dennis says:

3-0 dortmund. This man has clearly lost all perspective on reality smh, he’s going to destroy the players’ morale to a point of no return.

  17. Cashleycol says:

Wenger n Podolski clashed at a girlfriend’s Flat….. Sanogo can’t even make the subs bench at West Ham (no offense) maybe at Brentford or Leyton Orient… Um sure if he’s sold to Biolog in Russia, he will command a regular jersey…..and bang them…

  18. ThirdManJW says:

Hilarious starting line up from Wenger. As always, never, ever learning from his mistakes. We’ll definitely be starting the game with three players out of position, possible four if Santi’s out wide again, and the icing on the cake is a striker up front who doesn’t score goals.

I’d say Wenger is playing for the defeat, let alone a draw.

Arsenal 1-3 Dortmund is a very realistic result. But in defeat, I’m sure they’ll be plenty of positives to take out of the game.

  19. Cashleycol says:

Trashed or not, starting Sanogo ahead of Camphell and Podolski is an insult to other players, n like sticking a boot to Dortmund… Wenger is not very far away from going bonkus….

    1. jonestown1 says:

Campbell or Lukas as central striker has never been and never will be a workable proposition. Raw and un-cordinated as he is, YS offers far more. Something I think he showed tonight before his obligatory injury.

  20. Trudeau says:

Nice to see Wenger trusts Bellerin enough to sit him on the bench. It’s been a looooong time since I’ve been excited about an Arsenal starting line-up and….. I’m still waiting. The best result is probably a draw so we qualify but can rotate players for the last game in Turkey. I suppose it will be good to see what Sonogo does but I was really hoping to see Campbell

  21. arsenalvienna says:

i am so pissed off right now. the only way this can turn into a good evening is us managing not to receive more than 3 goals and aw is forced to bring poldi and rosicky in after ht who win the
game for us. so that this stubborn old man can see what to make better.

    1. jonestown1 says:

Yeah, right on the money there pal.

  22. GOONSTER says:

When the ball comes to Sanogo he looks like a new born calf trying to walk for the first time. I see some good things in him but he is so tentative in possession and never looks convincing with the ball.

  23. highbury44 says:

    Where is Diaby?

  24. davidnz says:

    Sanogo 10 goals.
    Ramsey 7
    Sanchez 5
    Cazorla 2
    Ox 4
    Mertz 3
    Campb 3
    Poldi 4
    martinez 1
    Arsenal 39 BVB 14

  25. Mick The Gooner says:

Need a point to qualify tonight

  26. fred cowardly says:

    How insulting to Podolski!!!

Disgraceful to play Sanogo over Podolski
Podolski scored last time he played and is also our best finisher.

    Or alternatively

Campbell doesn’t score goals often but you could always play him on the wing and Sanchez up front.

    1. jonestown1 says:

      Yeah disgraceful.

  27. Twig says:

Has Wenger given up on Sanchez as a centre forward? Feel we can use him the way City uses Aguero.

  28. mohawk says:

If I see Cazorla anywhere near the wing I will AGAIN REFUSE to watch.

Does anyone know why Poldi or Campbell are with club? All Poldi does is score goals, but Wenger does not like that.

And Campbell deserves more than 10 minutes playing time this season otherwise what is the point of his existence.

  29. Robin Vanpayslip says:

    Sa Yes Goal

    1. Brada b says:

Lol @ so yes goal @payslip

  30. GOONSTER says:

    SANOGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  31. RWRW says:

    SANOOOOOGOOOOOOO!!!!!!1

  32. Cashleycol says:

Look what that Sanogooooooool boy has just done… Aaah Dortmund is awful… If u thot we were worse,, they are atrocious……

  33. davidnz says:

    told ya

  34. CraigZWE says:

Sanogo, how is that for hold up

  35. juhislihis says:

I somehow knew that would happen.. that was brilliant goal and set up by Sanogo.

Like the commentator said, can we build on that goal`?

  36. CraigZWE says:

Look a quick goal and we slack immediately.

  37. fred cowardly says:

    Monreal again as CB
    Bellerin again not playing RB
    SAnogo ahead of Podolski

Wenger is the most stubborn Manager and will not change. It’s ridiculous

If something doesn’t work, you change it.
You put your best players on the field. I’m sorry but you can put Podolski or Sanchez ahead of Sanogo.

With Giroud, Welbeck, Podolski, Campbell and Sanchez in our club Sanchez should be on loan. Lots of forwards
Yet we have Jenkison on loan when we are short of defenders.

    Ridiculous

    1. fred cowardly says:

      Ok I was wrong

      Sanogo is a GOD.

      I’m glad Im wrong

    2. Tidan2 says:

i feel like you should be watching the match…

  38. Sumo says:

What the hell just happened? Sanaaaaaaaagooooaaaal.

  39. nygooner says:

that was beautiful handling by sanogo and great quick thinking from santi.

  40. fed-up gunner says:

    Sanogo, I can’t bel

    1. fed-up gunner says:

      *believe it

  41. arsenalvienna says:

wasnt it sanogo it would be 2 : 0

    1. Robin Vanpayslip says:

No it would be 1-0 numpty!!!!!!!!!!

  42. nygooner says:

lmao hit that early sanogo wtf was that move

  43. Brada b says:

Inexperience #sonogoals jus kick the fackin ball towards the goal not b fancy smfh

  44. Mesut O-grillz says:

our defense against counters is still trash. nice cover by Gibbs

  45. Mesut O-grillz says:

    Arteta always attacking them ankles!

  46. gmv8 says:

At least Alexei offers us some hope… Surprised Wenger hasn’t benched him as well!

  47. Bigvalbowski says:

What’s the over/under on MA getting sent off?

  48. Justsoccerfan says:

Finally arsenal have some luck, we are given a off side goal.

  49. Ks-Gunner says:

Well thats it with the So no goal nickname of his. Well done lad.

  50. palmer17 says:

Won’t play bellerin but sanago will get all the experience needed laughable. Merte can’t jump for s**t

  51. Charlie Nick says:

    So much diving by Dortmund

  52. luvdaguns says:

    gibbs looks good tonite

    1. Brada b says:

& also santi iz lookin good @ luvdaguns

      1. Mick The Gooner says:

I think Chambers has been great so far.

        1. Brada b says:

I think the whole team iz contributing & thats very good #COYG

  53. luvdaguns says:

santi, are you kidding me! awesome ball skills

  54. Mick The Gooner says:

Why are there so many empty seats?

  55. Ks-Gunner says:

The Emirates stadium is a joke. Home fans are terrible.

  56. Charlie Nick says:

Our final pass v.poor this season…keep hitting defenders

  57. Bigvalbowski says:

Sanchez needs to get his head out of his ass

    1. Brada b says:

Aye relax leave that man alone @bigvalbowski

      1. Brada b says:

Like I said leave that fackin man alone goalllllllll shanchez @bigvalbowski now u need to apologize!!!!

  58. Raja Danish says:

What a fine save by martinez off makhitaryan…

  59. Mesut O-grillz says:

Ramsey, uhhhhh, don’t you think you’re playing with the ball just a little too much?

  60. Ks-Gunner says:

Ramsey off plz, he is out of form.

  61. GOONSTER says:

This is the CAZORLA I know…

    1. Robin Vanpayslip says:

I didn’t know you knew him personally

    2. Justsoccerfan says:

Cos he is back to no.10

  62. GOONSTER says:

Sanchez hold on to the ball too much when we are countering.. That’s his main problem. He will hold on to it for far too long and he always gives it away..

That’s what he need to work on, need to know when to release or keep..

    1. Mesut O-grillz says:

every has been doing that. Ox, Ramsey, Santi, Sanogo

  63. kam says:

So far Arteta, Gibbs, Ox, Chamber are all good. But Sanchez is his old self, I think he is still tired.

  64. CraigZWE says:

Ramsey looks alright, best I’ve seen of him this season probably.

I really think he is going to come good some time in December.

    1. Ks-Gunner says:

      lol you are blind

      1. CraigZWE says:

        Yes. I’m listening to radio.

        Mert is terrible though.

  65. Fab says:

Do we have someone on the bench to replace Arteta? he is already booked and i am worried that he will end up getting a red. So far I am pleased with our performance, it is not far from that of Man united, the difference is we have the goal.

    1. arsenalvienna says:

could bring in flamini for arteta. still hoping for poldi to get at least 30 minutes of play.

    2. juhislihis says:

Lord Flamini? That’s our midfield cover.

      Mert has been really terrible.

      1. DC Gunner says:

        boss in
        Chambers up

        Montreal over or Bellerin in

  66. Justsoccerfan says:

I find that our players movement around the field are better this time.

  67. Ks-Gunner says:

Arsenal somehow looks planless, always rushing, always wasting good counters.

Ramsey needs to take the ball and release it to Sanchez, and not the other way around. This is so stupid to watch sometimes.

  68. arsenalvienna says:

santi and gibbs are doing a great job tonight. but for the rest i have to say its not us being so strong, it’s dortmund playing bad

  69. gmv8 says:

Wenger needs to think about changing it up now

    1. arsenalvienna says:

we need to change something now or dortmund is going to score soon

      1. Brada b says:

U know that man don’t do nothing until 80min

  70. Mick The Gooner says:

So why wasn’t Giroud registered for the CL again? Yes he was injured, but not registering him implies there was someone to take his place. Is there?

  71. Fab says:

    Sancheeeeeeeez, ooooooh! what a save!!

  72. arsenalvienna says:

thank you dortmund. great shot alexis

  73. Fab says:

What a hit that is by Ox. You may not talk too much about this lady, but i can seen high quality player coming through, it is about time.

    Sancheez finally score a screamer.

  74. Robin Vanpayslip says:

    I saw flashbacks of Bergkamp

  75. juhislihis says:

    Special goal from special player!!

  76. Charlie Nick says:

Yeah….Sanchez should get his head out of his ass………….

    What a great player!

    1. Robin Vanpayslip says:

      LOL

  77. RWRW says:

    This geezer is different class!!

  78. Mesut O-grillz says:

What a beast Sanchez is. Nice pass by Santi

        1. Brada b says:

  81. Charlie Nick says:

  82. Mesut O-grillz says:

    100 % Henry goal

  84. Brada b says:

I think shanchez should get sub dont want to risk him of injury he already did hiz job

  85. arsenalvienna says:

come on wenger give poldi a chance to make it 3:0

    1. Brada b says:

      & campbell

  86. Tidan2 says:

Ox has been bossing it tonight

  87. Justsoccerfan says:

Just wonder we are two up, why wenger just want to make sub, our bench player really that su*k?

    1. Justsoccerfan says:

      *don’t want to make sub

  88. kam says:

I must say Dortmund supporters are amazing.Even though they are loosing, the fans are shouting and chanting still.

  89. Charlie Nick says:

Oh FFS ….our players made of glass

  90. kam says:

I am surprised by Dortmund supporters.

  91. Mesut O-grillz says:

89th minute, Campbell, I told you!

  92. Justsoccerfan says:

Let stand up and salute sanchez, nearly 90 mins still got the energy to fight three defender.

  93. Brada b says:

O wow 2min for campbell smfh #FACK AW now thumb me down wenger children!!!

    1. vietnam gooner says:

Do you want the anderlect game recall? We are united then no need to change if no necessary

  94. Ronny331 says:

Poldi and Campbell on the pitch in one game whats going on?! Ivan have a word in his ear?

  95. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Hahaha Klopp is telling off his player after the final whistle. Dude is a legend

  96. Justsoccerfan says:

Just feel sorry for poldi and Campbell, just don’t know why they only deserve to play for few minutes.

  97. NY_Gunner says:

BVB look a shadow of their former selves…
I’ll take the win and clean sheet though.

  98. DaveJay says:

Yes well done indeed. What a masterstroke!
