Official teams and preview of Arsenal v Hull City

Arsenal really need to be on the ball today to make sure that we get the right result in the first game towards defending the FA cup trophy we won back in May. It might seem tough to have to face the same opponents, Hull City, as in that Wembley final, but this is no time to feel sorry for ourselves.

With a week to go before Stoke City come to the Emirates in the Premier League, Wenger will want his players to squeeze every ounce of effort from their legs. And the boss has also made a few changes, partly for fresh legs and partly to give some fringe players a chance, as he does in these early cup rounds.

The big news for Arsenal is that Theo Walcott starts his first game since injusring his cruciate ligaments against Spurs a year ago.

Bellerin, Chambers, Mertesacker, Monreal
Coquelin, Rosicky, Cazorla
Walcott, Alexis, Campbell

subs: Martinez, Debuchy, Koscielny, Zelalem, Maitland-Niles, Chamberlain, Akpom

Arsenal fans should not worry too much about having a weakened starting line-up though, as Steve Bruce has kept just one player, Curtis Davies, from the team that beat Everton on new years day. So as long as we go about this the right way, we should sewe an Arsenal win, just like we did at Wembley six months ago.

Walcott, Sanchez, Campbell – shit just got real

    1. Mick The Gooner says:

Such a shame it’s against Hull, a team that never leaves their own box. Pace won’t count for too much today.

    2. KickAssFan says:

Dear God, please do not let Alexis collapse on the pitch today!!!!!!!

    3. rpk says:

Replace Cazorla with Ox. Everyone will run like crazy. Don’t under-estimate Rosicky, he his very quick.

  2. Dennis says:

Campbell!!!!!! Hull is going to be eaten alive. He’s way too slick for em.

    1. joeboy says:

Yeah hes well eaten them alive :/

  3. Greg says:

I believe with this team we have enough “fire power” to beat hull! But our defense must still be focus and not complacent! Coyg!

  4. muffdiver says:

    Holy mother of buddha.

    *drops incense stick

    1. Robin Vanpayslip says:

      Circle of life my friend

  5. Bolly says:

    For once I’m confident

  6. vijaygunner says:

i see he still doesn’t have the balls to drop per for someone like isaac hayden oh well go campbell!!!

    1. rpk says:

      I think Hayden is injured..

      1. vijaygunner says:

        oh my bad then

    2. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

Three minutes played, you are crying in your ladies undergarment already.

    3. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

Still want to drop the BFG? God you fans cry like little girls.

    4. vijaygunner says:

      sorry per!!

  7. hecmanx says:

    Wenger out!!

    1. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

Please don’t strain your brain with analysis.

  8. rpk says:

I know this GUY will not rest Alexis and Cazorla..they are burning out. Mark my word they will get injured soon….

    1. YingYang69 says:

Yes… but who would you play instead of them, and bear in mind the outcry which would come with a defeat.

      1. rpk says:

Akpom deserves a chance, he would have come for Alexis. Alexis really needs rest. Ox in place of Cazorla. If we are ahead in first half, replace Ox with Zalelam/Niles, otherwise replace him with Cazorla. Alexis and Cazorla really needs rest, they are stand-out players. We shouldn’t loose them with injury.

  9. rpk says:

Im very much impressed with Coquelin.. He is working very hard.

  10. van_Al says:

i don’t knoow about you guys but i love this team..only draw back is mertsacker !
    COYG !

    1. rpk says:

Bit short in height.. Other than that. It’s awesome.

    2. YingYang69 says:

All the same though per is our second best cb and still the best we have to pair with kos… whether people like it or not.

  11. nyc says:

Hull have made 10, yes TEN changes to the team that played in epl this week. And we are still milking Alexis Sanchez and cazorla for every single minute. When will they get a rest? This is absolutely bad man management by Wenger. We are at home but still afraid to give youngsters a chance. Alexis should have been on the bench and should be on if we were trailing like city introduced Silva and nasri in 65th min, manutd brought di Maria in 70th, Chelsea brought costa and Willian in 46th min. Alexis and cazorla will be playing from the

    1. YingYang69 says:

Hull are prioritising… we on the other hand are going for the only silverware we are likely to have a chance at. I reckon this is the only time this season that hull have not gone with their best players.

  12. phil-thompsons-nose says:

A win will be a win and we don’t have another game for a week and I guess sanchez will always be chomping at the bit.. So unless Arsene has another amazing deal up them long sleeves of his, sanchez will be cream crackered around the time we play 2nd leg of CL tie..!
My only hope today (never want a player injured) but that lanky tree from Lord of the rings needs to take time out and have a 3 month sabbatical somewhere far away from us and hope Arsene signs 2 yes TWO defenders because we need them this window!

  13. blondin says:

Why not to rest mert…for the rest of the season and release at the end?

  14. Mick The Gooner says:

Don’t fancy us today. Don’t know why.

  15. CraigZWE says:

Wenger looks nervous and which manager wouldn’t being in his position

  16. CraigZWE says:

Campbell some good play, top stuff lad

  17. CraigZWE says:

Should have been a goal but he created it and will leave it down to match sharpness

  18. Twig says:

Sanchez is dropping too deep for a striker :/

    1. CraigZWE says:

Right on twig, but the rest of the players need all the help they can get.

  19. john0711 says:

We should win this we have a quality attack and this is basically their res team, please all you AKB brigade watch Mert, not when he has the ball watch how he hides in games

    1. Tidan2 says:

  20. CraigZWE says:

    Aaarg so close

  21. CraigZWE says:

    Past Nacho too easy.

  22. davidnz says:

    Arsenal at home
    we should win it.

  23. Charlie Nick says:

Monreal is SO easy to get by…hate when he plays LB

  24. phil-thompsons-nose says:

So far ospina gives me more confidence to warrant his place as No1

    1. CraigZWE says:

He releases ball for counter quicker too.

    2. phil-thompsons-nose says:

Unfortunately our midfield is non existent (again!)

  25. gunnerman8701 says:

Coquelin looks very improved. Hope he keeps getting better.

  26. CraigZWE says:

Why is no one in the box for the cross.

    Haha Mert hahaha

  27. gunnerman8701 says:

    Go Merty

  28. Me says:

Wenger strengthens the team by allowing players to go out on loan.

And people wonder why Arsenal always struggle….

  29. Twig says:

Go Mertesacker! Now score a hat trick!

  30. jt says:

    we scored from a corner!

  31. davidnz says:

Hull at home is our level.

    1. Tidan2 says:

so it should be a draw? makes no sense

      1. davidnz says:

The league game here was was 2-2
        Makes a lot of sense.

        1. Tidan2 says:

          urgh… i give up

  32. Charlie Nick says:

Is Martin Keown getting on anyone else’s t1ts?

    1. phil-thompsons-nose says:

  33. True.Gonner says:

    Up per hahahaha

  34. Mick The Gooner says:

A good commanding header, why do we usually waste Mertesacker at the near post at corners?

    1. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

      He scores you still complain

      1. gooner100 says:

Er unlike usual AOB meaningless bs that’s a fair comment…per is normally wasted at the near post.

  35. CraigZWE says:

Aaarg what a play, this is the Arsenal.

rozza on form again, only player not to pass backwards.

Also Le Coq is passing well, I have preferred him in every game to Flamini.

  36. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

Arsenal is playing Arsenal football. You crybaby girls want to complain?

    1. Justsoccerfan says:

Wow this line up will win us the treble.

  37. phil-thompsons-nose says:

A goal is a goal but he’s still our worse player.. Thumb me down but one goal doesn’t change my opinion of his ability..

    1. Robin Vanpayslip says:

      Thumbs up

  38. gunnerman8701 says:

Look at Wenger looking like this is a CL final lmao

    1. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

Why are you an Arsenal fan?

    2. gooner100 says:

      Fcuk off loser AOB.

      1. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

Wow, that took all your brain power. Lie down and have a rest.

  39. CraigZWE says:

Rozza again. I am enjoying this, why can’t we always play with purpose and zest

  40. True.Gonner says:

Am i the only one feeling ospina hear?

    1. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

Ospina has one fault, he kicks the ball with opposing players behind him. He has to get a warning. He did that in the WC too.

  41. Justsoccerfan says:

Did hull send out a training team for us.

  42. Justsoccerfan says:

Steve Bruce really disrespect us by sending out a training team in our back yard.

    1. CraigZWE says:

Why? I’m sure he plans on winning the game and it just shows how we have fallen recently.

      1. muffdiver says:

if we cant beat hulls b team i give up!

  43. john0711 says:

Wow Mert scores very good but no reprieve we need a clean sheet and you doing what your supposed
Front three of Theo/Sanchez/Campell look awsome interchanging
Le coq looks very good, and SANTI is class
Ospina looks 100 more assured than Schez
Please just add a top DM and CB please

  44. CraigZWE says:

Campbell looked sharp in beginning but now looks tired. Doubt he will make the 90 but rather have Alexis and Theo taken off for next week

  45. Ronny331 says:

@philtn. Yep thanks for the goal but you are still desperately poor! Ospina more assured than schez coq looking good, rosicky legend.

  46. Ronny331 says:

When mertesacker and huddlestone are in the pitch one goal is never enough! Coyg!

  47. john0711 says:

    Front 3 pressing
Really want Campbell to do well he just needs games and he will be a star

    1. Charlie Nick says:

Haven’t seen much to get excited about. He was good in WC but he looks disinterested today…funny for someone desperate to play

      1. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

        What game are you watching?

        1. Charlie Nick says:

Watch him…on his heels, standing still all the time. Has he done something I’ve missed??

          1. RSH says:

wow you have high expectations. will you be upset if Theo doesnt score a hattrick?

          2. Charlie Nick says:

WTF has Theo got to do with anything? You saying that Campbell has played well?? haha

  48. Justsoccerfan says:

I thought The Arsenal is back but only a glimpse of it.

  49. Ronny331 says:

Hilarious ospina doing his best to get our baxk four to play the ball from deep, all of them passing it back to him πŸ™‚ oh for a cb that can pick a pass!

  50. phil-thompsons-nose says:

Can’t believe we persist crossing the ball to 5’0 midgets!!!!!!!!!?????

  51. True.Gonner says:

    I need more goals

  52. juhislihis says:

We just scored from a corner and what do we do? We completely f*ck up the next 2. Also f*cked the freekick at the end.

    Shameful wasting. Should be 2-0.

  53. Charlie Nick says:

Is Jimmy Bullard wearing orange makeup because he played for Hull?

    1. mark says:

Scruffy so and so isn’t he?

      1. mark says:

Clearly the BBC budget didn’t stretch to a well dressed pundit for Hull…looks orange, scruffy and sleazy with his 70’s medallion, shirt hardly buttoned and hair scraped into a lovely fetching bun. Cut price classy! πŸ˜‰

        1. Charlie Nick says:

Not well liked by Hull fans apparently

  54. muffdiver says:

hull made 10 changes from the everton game?
who are they to put there b team against arsenal?
    im mildly offended

    1. RSH says:

they are hovering above relegation zone. Im sure if they werent in that position they would put out a better side.

      1. muffdiver says:

lucky for us -they are πŸ˜‰

  55. davidnz says:

    Campbell Bellerin Coquelin
    Walcott Monreal Ospina Rosicky
    all getting valuable playing time.
    A wn today v Stoke + the 4th round
may then see only one CB added in the window πŸ™

  56. Ronny331 says:

@davidnz. Wenger sending out a message that we dont need signings maybe just a cb. Bigging up coquelin in the week suggests to me no dm player is coming.

    1. davidnz says:

      Yes. Coqu will get more
      wraps after todays game.
Even less chance of a DM.
      Wenger prefers another AM
gives him more reason to now.

  57. Nairobigooner says:

Coquelin has been incredible in the middle of the park considering his limited experience at this level…he deserves a run of games to be fair.

  58. Justsoccerfan says:

Is it only me find this match boring? FA cup really lost it spark.

    1. muffdiver says:

not the fa cup, arsenal lost there spark-
cant remember arsenal working hard for 90 mins.
no doubt we will win- but scratching my head at whats happened to us

      1. RSH says:

i prefer a boring 1-0 win than a frantic draw where we give up leads with ridiculous goals.

  59. mark says:

We should have killed this game in the first half with 3 goals. Instead we might have a nervy half hour, unless we can score a quick goal or two..

  60. Mick The Gooner says:

Lost our rhythm entirely. Everyone looks too tired to move.

  61. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Around 20 more mins before a substitution. But who will he bring on – Campbell is already on and Podolski is gone

  62. CraigZWE says:

I want Akpom for Sanchez and Ox for Theo.

Sanchez needs break and this Theo’s first start.

  63. CraigZWE says:

He will probably take Theo and Campbell off for Debuchy and Gibbs

  64. phil-thompsons-nose says:

    Bad miss

  65. CraigZWE says:

I am quite impressed with Coq’s passing, would like to see the stats for his past games

    1. joeboy says:

I think hes been sloppy with his passing today

  66. joeboy says:

Yeah id like to see akpom have a few minutes on the pitch

  67. juhislihis says:

We are begging for Hull to score

  68. muffdiver says:

wtf wow theo. its alrite lad first game back πŸ™‚

  69. Ronny331 says:

Walcott doesn’t look right at all, first game syndrome I guess. Agree akpom and ox for 30 mins and hold one sub back.

    1. Justsoccerfan says:

Already 70 mins play, FYI. Wenger only sub at 80 mins.

  70. Bigvalbowski says:

0-2 on easy chances ol savior Walcott. Some things never change

  71. JAmerican says:

OMG can we get a 2nd goal, Hull is driving me crazy?!? Lol

  72. phil-thompsons-nose says:

Is it me or does sanchez look a bit disheartened there’s no quick interchange..? He’s looking for a pass – but there’s no runners..?
Ozil can’t come soon enough for me.. Still we need another goal otherwise hull will score..

  73. Matt says:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Joel Campbell is absolutely useless and simply not good enough. So many of you on here rave about him because he stands out in the Costa-Rica national team but for Arsenal, I simply do not believe he’s particularly talented.

    1. Justsoccerfan says:

Just like Ramsey, wilshere, carzola/ozil (on the wing).

    2. CraigZWE says:

Really think he just needs game time. Doesn’t look match fit.

If he has a few more chances then maybe I would agree but for now reserved

  74. AussieGunner247 says:

I will donate $100 to charity everytime Campbell uses his right foot

    1. davidnz says:

      Gibbs and Wilshere too πŸ™‚

  75. Robin Vanpayslip says:

    *hugs @ Walcott’

  76. davidnz says:

    A win is a win.
    Finish this B grade
    outfit off chaps.

  77. JAmerican says:

    Soooo many missed opportunities

  78. nyc says:

75th min and no substitutions. Hanging on for life like we did against the mighty qpr and whu and now hull

  79. Ronny331 says:

Our players look shattered too many players that are not match fit. Hullsoaked up our first half pressure aand are coming now. Make a change wenger!! Ps elmohamady against our defence oh s*it!

  80. phil-thompsons-nose says:

Sanchez is one bad challenge away from an injury that will ruin our season more than its already ruined..

  81. juhislihis says:

Let’s see how many runs “Headless”-OX will make behind the line.

    1. Justsoccerfan says:

The headless just miss the ball.

  82. Justsoccerfan says:

No worry. I don’t think hull will scored.

  83. CraigZWE says:

Is we don’t concede great, but will Wenger then think we don’t need a CB?

    1. CraigZWE says:

@admin Really, why is that comment being moderated?

      1. CraigZWE says:

@admin is it cause it questions Wengers logic?

  84. GoonAR says:

    Take Sanchez off already!!!!

    1. davidnz says:

      What? πŸ™‚

  85. davidnz says:

    Lots of exciting footy.
    Two quality sides.
    Memorable performance

  86. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

    A phucking Lexis ! The man !

  87. CraigZWE says:

Carzola and Sanchez, who else, none other but our best 2 players linking up.

  88. phil-thompsons-nose says:

Campbell is not arsenal – repeat not arsenal standard..
Thank god for Sanchez… Our last remaining hope..

  89. muffdiver says:

yet again – are only shining light

we love u too much alexis

  90. Brada b says:

    #IN17WETRUST! !!

  91. Charlie Nick says:

    Owwww…Coq should have walked there

  92. fred cowardly says:

Sanchez needs rest. I think he should be given rest when we play Villa at home.

I’m too scared Sanchez will get injured or burn out.

    1. fred cowardly says:

      What are we without Alexis?

      1. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

Man U had to bring on $100n million of talent to beat Yeovil. That is what teams pay the big $$$ for.

  93. RSH says:

why Coquelin?? that was dumb. Lucky he only got a yellow, the ref was being kind.

  94. Justsoccerfan says:

Ox just play how long? Injured again.

  95. CraigZWE says:

Noooo, take him off Wenger don’t risk it.
Just what we need, Ox injury

    1. gmv8 says:

I don’t understand why Campbell was taken off instead of Ox – the last thing we need is him out for god knows how long.d

  96. Bigvalbowski says:

I love your contribution Nose, but cmon about J Campbell. Will he have a statue next to the king 14 outside the Emirates, uh No but for absolutely NO Quality Game time he hasn’t been terrible.

  97. Ronny331 says:

    2-0 at last , who else? πŸ™‚

  98. Bigvalbowski says:

Minus the assinie 2 foot challenge Coq has had a solid night
