Official teams and Preview of Besiktas v Arsenal

This is a massive game for the Gunners, but also one which Arsenal should be confident of getting the right result in. When you consider that we beat what most would say was better Turkish opposition at the same time last season, as well as the fact that we are stronger and more confident this time around, then Besiktas should hold no real fears for us.

And the boss has certainly gone for a fairly strong attacking line-up, with Mikel Arteta preferred to Mathieu Flamini in the deep lying midfield role. Ramsey and Wilshere need to play well to control the game and a lot of the onus will be on the big French shoulders of Olivier giroud in the centre forward position.

Our number 12 needs to step up today and start to find the form that made him so important to our success last season, especially with Sanogo, Campbell and Sanchez pushing for that central role, but I think that he will. Cazorla also needs a good game after some lacklustre performances recently.

I think we could be happy with a score draw, but I also think we should get the win and put one foot in the Champions League group stage.

    1. People crying over Campbell not playing.Firstly,this is the 2nd competitive fixture.Secondly,once he has a bad/poor game,y’all will go all “cazorla” on him,calling for him to be sold or loaned out because he aint “Arsenal Material”.As for me I do want him to play but he should prove himself FROM THE BENCH!,so far most gunners have seen him just a couple of times including the Benfica game,but hey you dont judge a player based on a game huh?!(Sanogo…Benfica…4,ring any bells).He should be slowly integrated and yes,he should prove himself.Simple Logic

  2. What to expect with this lineup as the unbalance and lack of pace is as bad as last season

    – berely any chances
    – slow passing football side to side
    – no counter attack
    – players awkward as they ain’t got fixed position’s
    – creative players not making changes coz giroud just stands stil passing the ball back to them

    Same as last season most of the games and like the palace game

  3. That line up missing Wilshere right? I though Flamini might start for a more physical presence. Ox and campbell for more pace when we need it.

    Cazorla is just lacking match fitness, most of the team are, but did all right against City.

    1. No we want him in his proper position in the middle .. Coz we saw all of last season he was terrible outwide and much better in the middle plus we need more pace on the flanks

  31. Can’t fault Arteta as DM in this game yet. He seems to prefer playing in a 4-3-3 as the deepest midfielder rather than a 4-2-3-1 next to another mid. Maybe in a 4-3-3 it’s obvious that he’s sitting and doesn’t attack whereas in a 4-2-3-1 one sits and one attacks.

  52. I think Arsenal are showing more respect to Besiktas than they deserve. FFS Wenger is such a coward for not taking the game to them. The team selection says it all.

  54. On the basis of what I’ve see of Sanchez so far, Walcott will have no problems at all taking his right wing spot back.

  60. girouds pitch position is what does not work, defender goes into 6 yard box, alexi on the kove w the ball, giroud irunning to goal in wide open box 7 yards behind defender, giroud goes up right behind the defender leaving no where for alexi to pass, if he camps in the wide open space 5 yards behind the defender, he has a wide open shot on goal, instead ball goes to GK in attempt to find the striker, it drives me crazy! he always plays on a shoulder of a defender

  63. Giroud’s being a lamp post. Cazorla losing possession time and time again. Wilshere looking alright though.

Can’t wait for Walcott back because you know Wenger will put him in the starting line up on the wing with Sanchez on the other .     1. The entire team is fu$kin average. Only players that are to be given a score over 7 are the defensive players. For some reason Giroud thinks that he shouldn’t be tackling for the ball. Where is his sub. Am sorry to say this but we will struggle to beat Everton if the team continues like this. Poor performance. I dont know if it is the bad pitch or what but poor performance

  98. Hahahaha… we look such an ordinary team. The back four has no backup right now and they look tired. Kos is limping . Chambers and Debuchy look tired. Monreal is useless. And lord GIROUD. And we are dreaming for PL with this performance. 😀
