Official teams and preview of Hull v Arsenal

There are not too many surprises for Arsenal fans today, in fact it looks like the Arsenal team is almost picking itself at the minute, with Arsene Wenger sticking with the same starting line-up that faced Chelsea eight days ago.

There are a couple of surprises on the bench though, as with Mathieu Debuchy ruled out due to an injury niggle I thought the boss would go with Chambers to cover both right back and central defence. Kieran Gibbs is there along with Gabriel though so we have decent cover.

Another surprise for me was that Danny Welbeck is not in the squad, leaving Theo Walcott as our only striking option. You would assume that with Giroud, Alexis, Ozil and all we would be alright against Hull City but you have to wonder why Welbeck is left out while Tomas Rosicky is on the bench and the Gunners already have the likes of Ramsey and Cazorla in positions that are not their best. Jack Wilshere is also on the bench and I expect to see him at some point as long as the game allows it.

Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal
Ramsey, Cazorla, Ozil, Alexis

subs: Szczesny, Gibbs, Gabriel, Flamini, Wilshere, Rosicky, Walcott

Hull´s big striker Jelavic is fit again but only makes the bench but their five man midfield is likely to make this a tough game for the Gunners but one we really need to win if we want that second spot in the Premier League.

  1. AlmiR says:

Ramsey on wings again !!!! This is reason why we wont win anything, summer trasnfer window wont change anything, while Wenger plays his favourites in stupid 433 with no wings.

    1. chimchimgiroud says:

It’s really not that crazy considering they all interchange throughout the game. Also our best team definitely includes ozil, cazorla, ramsey and coquelin. Obviously all these players can’t play centrally so one of them will have to do the team a favour and play out wide. Ramsey is probably the most versatile, So to me, this is the best formation.

      1. HA559 says:

Either play Ramsey in CMF or don’t play him at all. We should have a first class RW in the team and we need one this summer so Ramsey won’t have to play there.

        1. AlmiR says:

We have good RW in Walcott, if Wenger doenst rate him, than why extend his contract? Buy someone who will actually play and not sit on bench while earning 100k per week.

          1. HA559 says:

As far as I’m concerend Walcott is a goner, like it or not. Doesn’t sign contract, and since return from injury he can’t dribble past one player, it’s like he is scared. Bellerin would make a far better RW than Walcott is right now.

          2. Ks-Gunner says:

Out of nowhere, Walcott suddenly becomes not good enough. Why? To excuse Wengers desicion to put Ramsey ahead of him on the wings.

You are spot on with the dribblings and beating players, but if Theo cant do it, then Ramsey cant do it aswell.

          3. luvdaguns says:

its not about his ability, its his contract demands and time on the injury table, he demands more then he is worth,

        2. KickAssFan says:

I think Arsene has had just about enof of Walcot.

      2. KickAssFan says:

I don’t feel good about this game, I hope we win. That midfield is jammed.

        1. Charlie Nick says:

Give us a break! – Hull City??
          3-0 to Arsenal at least

          1. KickAssFan says:

            Don’t swiftly write off teams.

          2. Charlie Nick says:

Haha…think we can write off Hull, or we need to give up…

          3. KickAssFan says:

            Yeah, happily mark them “absent”.

    2. Ks-Gunner says:

The fakk is wrong in using Walcott for once? Ramsey sure is Wengers fav sunnyboy.

      1. KickAssFan says:

I won’t say it, but I think there’s a somfin between Ramsey and Arsene.

        1. Charlie Nick says:

          Disgusting comment

          1. KickAssFan says:

Sorry, son. U weren’t supposed to see that.

    3. luvdaguns says:

  2. John Legend says:

    We hope for a win

  3. HA559 says:

Rasmey on the wing is a waste. We end up having too many players in central (Ramsey getting to close to Cazorla or Ozil) and the right side is then handled by Bellerin for almost the whole 90 by himself.

    1. luvdaguns says:

      how did that work out?

  4. Bravox says:

  5. AlmiR says:

all ramseys contribution came from middle, and if you look strenghts of our teams, like OG, his main attribute is header, how can you use his best when there is no one to cross and stretch opponent defense, i am sure we will beat Hull, but what will happened when we play strong defensive team, who will break their defense?

  6. rkw says:

Brilliant lets put out a team that go nowhere last weekend against a team that will be motivated off the charts to get a result …. Hope I’m wrong
NGO but Monday night in hull can be a bleak place… Need a determined effort from the off

    1. Charlie Nick says:

      Cheer up man…gonna win easy

    2. themadhurata says:

      Miserable git!

  7. Ks-Gunner says:

Give Wenger a Ferrari and will try to turn it into a Fiat. Give him a Fiat he will try to make him into a Ferrari. Specialist in F*cking up players pozitions.

    1. AlmiR says:

      Ibra would be proud, LOL

    2. themadhurata says:

      Another miserable git!

  8. CraigZWE says:

Drop either Ramsey, Cazorla or Ozil and play a RW.

We become very narrow against compact defences when we should stretch it to make space for the middle players.

Sanchez comes in as well so it left to full backs for width. This also does not play ti OG advantage.

    1. luvdaguns says:

      drop ramsey?

  9. sanmi.marvellous says:

    Hull 2 -5Arsenal

  10. Dennis says:

wenger plays the same style every game lol again with ramsay on the right when he has theo in the bench.

    1. jonestown1 says:

Yeah, absolute disaster, 4 wins a draw and 2 goals and 3 assists for AR. Seriously some of you guys have no imagination – like everything with its correct label on it, all your ducks lined neatly in a row. Ramsey + Bellerin works better than Walcott + Bellerin is likely to work. Theo was effectively always our second striker – we have now some geezer called Alexis doing that instead.

  11. sanmi.marvellous says:

    Hull 2 -5 Arsenal

  12. Ks-Gunner says:

Coquelin off the ball is the best in the leauge, he needs to improve then he has the ball, otherwise Wenger will bench him.

  13. sanmi.marvellous says:

    Hull 2 -5 Arsenal… coyg

  14. luvdaguns says:

damn, i read these comments and you would think we are playing like Man Utd or Spurs, we are two games in hand comfortable in 2nd with another FA Cup ifinal in our future, we are playing our best season in years! we have yet to loose a BPL match in many moons, come on brothers! enjoy!

  15. sanmi.marvellous says:

    Hull 2 -5 Arsenal

    .. coyg !!

  16. CraigZWE says:

No width, bring Theo on now

  17. CraigZWE says:

    Bring Gab on.

    Time for subs

  18. CraigZWE says:

Wish we could make 10 subs.

  19. CraigZWE says:

    Boring boring Arsenal.

    Just defending.

  20. Charlie Nick says:

We need to stop fannying about – get the passing going, and stop allowing crosses into our box

  21. Charlie Nick says:

    Hate Huddlestone

  22. CraigZWE says:

Please not Jack, we want to win

  23. Charlie Nick says:

    Gooooallll Alexisssssssssssss

  24. CraigZWE says:

    Alexis whooohooo

  25. Ks-Gunner says:

35mil what a steal. Wonderfull goal.

  26. clem says:

    goooaaaaaaaaaalllll sancheeeeez!!!!!!

  27. luvdaguns says:

  28. Justsoccerfan says:

We play more boring than Chelsea but we are 1 ahead.

  29. Charlie Nick says:

Huddlestone got caught on the ball, Livermore gives away foul, Dawson deflects it in…goal made in Sh!te Fart Lane !

  30. clem says:

    goooaaaaaalllllll raaaammmsseeeeeeyyyyyyyy

  31. CraigZWE says:

    Ramsey yeah.

    Sorry for Hull though

  32. Charlie Nick says:

And its 2=0 to the Gunners…!

  33. RWRW says:

    Santi Cazorla- Genius

  34. Invincibles49 says:

Sometimea Sanchez annoys me with his extra unnecessary couple of touches. He does not pass the ball and eventally gets narrowed down and fouled. Though this time it gave us the free kick and goal but a lot of times it kills a potentially good move. Unless you are Messi you are not allowed to do that.

  35. Andrew AFC says:

Are you all happy now. Stop moaning about our club and our players. GOYG

    1. CraigZWE says:

      Can we moan about manager?

      1. Charlie Nick says:

      2. Andrew AFC says:

I used to moan about Wenger but I see something special happening. Look at the stats from 2015.

  36. luvdaguns says:

so everyone above that complained about ramsey being worthless at wing can relax, this squad is damn good, enjoy it, we can play with anyone…

  37. Robin Vanpayslip says:

    Defection perfection

  38. Bravox says:

  39. Ks-Gunner says:

    salomon kalu almost scored

  40. Justsoccerfan says:

I still don’t know how we are 2-0 up. We got the champion look.

    1. luvdaguns says:

best arsenal squad in many years, wish these guys were healthy all season, be lifting the trophey

  41. fullmetalalc says:

Ramsey other than pace issue(which anyways is ok with Bellerin behind him) makes sense to me on the wing. He is a better finisher and better defensively than Cazorla or Ozil and Cazorla is a better passer of the long ball as seen.

  42. luvdaguns says:

Mert saved our arses twice, Hull scrapping for their lives, this would be a very tough win on the road

    1. Charlie Nick says:

We look like scoring every time we attack. The bloke that said 2-5 might be right

      1. luvdaguns says:

all smiles in san francisco, can not wait until next season, no doubt this squad will be able to play in final 4 of UCL, pure class

  43. Dennis says:

Calm down, we’re beating a club battling relegation.

    1. RWRW says:

You people will never be happy will you? You must live a very negative life

    2. Andrew AFC says:

What happened to Liverpool then 🙂

  44. clem says:

    what a miss from sanchez

  45. Charlie Nick says:

  46. clem says:

and what a goal from sanchez

  47. CraigZWE says:

    Sanchez whooohooo.

    We have come alive

    1. YingYang69 says:

Typical wob. Total lack of class respect and most of all support. Then come the woohoos.

  48. RWRW says:

Alexis Sanchez, why are you so good?

  49. luvdaguns says:

beautiful!!! keep thumbing me down for being positive! i love this squad! pure class!!!

  50. truth says:

Awkward….where are all those Ramsey haters ?

  51. fullmetalalc says:

Ramsey one goal one assist! Ain’t such a bad idea now is it?

  52. Mallu_Gooner says:

  53. fullmetalalc says:

COYG. A couple more goals. Lets overtake ManC on GD!

  54. Ks-Gunner says:

Ramsey till now man of the match. The game is very boring as we are way to go good for them. Hope to see some subs in the sec part.

  55. CraigZWE says:

5 clear of united with a game in hand.

  56. sun says:

the ammount of “fans” that get proven wrong on this webiste is hillarious

    1. Ks-Gunner says:

      wrong in what

      1. muffdiver says:

well with u k, talkin ramsey down, 45 mins later hes made u look bit foolish.

everyones out of position etc- youve had some gems geezer

        1. AlmiR says:

no one here said ramsey wasnt good enough, its just some people here think 433 should be played with wingers, just like rest of world is playing.

          1. themadhurata says:

Why? Because your text books told you?

He plays Ramsey because he is better in the final third then anyone else and he has bellerin in behind who makes up the width, adds attacking threat. Also Ramsey can defend and make up for bellerin’s positioning errors on occasions.

Makes perfect sense. If Walcott starts to get sharpness and starts to finish like he once was, then we can maybe drop one of the three. Or if Wenger plays debuchy or chambers RB then maybe Walcott can get a game.

          2. jonestown1 says:

4-3-3 – not sure about that. The traditional winger has been dead for ages mate. Catch up. Hector and Nacho are our width – nothing has changed.

        2. Ks-Gunner says:

tis not tllk him down, i dont want to see him play there

    2. luvdaguns says:

but they are fans!! to think we were in 6th place in January w SOU and Spurs and Livershite ahead of us, oh if we were only healthy in November/December… Lets get another FA and get the league next year!

  57. Andrew AFC says:

There is so much negativity on here, you have to wonder if some people are true Arsenal supporters.

    1. muffdiver says:

      agreed andrew.

    2. AlmiR says:

its not negativity is simple logic, we couldnt beat chelsea with this same line up, and when ramsey was injured, wilshere got up from bench, so Walcot is out for sure

      1. luvdaguns says:

we have not lost in the BPL since February 7th, Chelsea did not play to win or loose, not much can be done when your opponent is afraid to play you…

  58. Thando says:

Lol! what a nice game from arsenal cant wait for the second half. We need two or more to go no.2

  59. AlmiR says:

Santis best game for sure, what a player, and i was wrong about ramsey, lets score 2 or 3 more so we can get our 2nd position today !!!

    1. luvdaguns says:

      thumbs up X 10

  60. Mick The Gooner says:

Eep it in perspective, we are playing one of the worst teams in the league. But some of this passing has been unreal.

  61. Mick The Gooner says:

Also, only 1 behind Man City on Goal Difference now, plus we have a game in hand to boost it more. I think we could top them at the end of the season. It’ll be tough though, we still have to visit Old Trafford.

    1. Charlie Nick says:

I was at Old Trafford on Saturday (corporate thing) Believe me, we have NOTHING to fear going there. Man Utd were truely woeful.

  62. luvdaguns says:

steve bruce does enjoy his pies, doesnt he…

  63. Charlie Nick says:

Ozil and Cazorla are so classy.

  64. CraigZWE says:

    Goal game on

  65. Charlie Nick says:

So, Hull are allowed to follow through on virtually every tackle…ref missed one on Coq and another there on Kos.

  66. Bigvalbowski says:

    Better wake the F up!!

  67. Justsoccerfan says:

    Is Giroud playing?

  68. Mick The Gooner says:

Looking like another 3-2 nail biter at the moment

  69. Dennis says:

They’re desperate, bring on Walcott so we can hit them on the counter. Or else do a mourinho and bring on another DM to play alongside coq

  70. gmv8 says:

Should not’ve been a goal, Kos was deliberately taken out of play and he had won the ball.

    1. luvdaguns says:

      no doubt,

  71. luvdaguns says:

giroud a bit quiet last few matches

  72. CraigZWE says:

Bench Ozil for Fabregas, what was Henry smoking?

  73. fullmetalalc says:

That touch from Ozil! World Class!

    1. luvdaguns says:

it was sublime, he has grown comfortable w the BPL game,

      1. muffdiver says:

u know who used to do that same flick

        1. luvdaguns says:

  74. Mick The Gooner says:

This passing is unbelievable. Barcelona watch and learn!

  75. gmv8 says:

Giroud needs to wake up – think he’s been our worst player so far.

  76. Ks-Gunner says:

Ramsey is tired, give him some rest Wenger and get Wilsher in the game. Ozil is simple fantastic. Girouds need to be subb aswell.

  77. Charlie Nick says:

    Haha stand by Jack haters!!!!!

  78. CraigZWE says:

  79. rkw says:

any one seen giroud in this game? why take foot of break?

  80. CraigZWE says:

Super Jack, did I miss something

  81. Charlie Nick says:

    Payback on Meyler heh heh

  82. Ks-Gunner says:

damn, wilsher dnt play messi :p you are playing in the epl

  83. CraigZWE says:

    Ozil. Please

  84. gooner4ever says:

Great dribbling by Wilshere, but exactly at these situations he always gets injured. He has to release the ball earlier!!!

  85. gmv8 says:

Dunno why the hull lot are booing if he hadn’t have pulled Kos down, he wouldn’t have a stud in the eye

  86. gmv8 says:

Poor refereeing – Mert fouled in penalty area yet nothing given- could’ve been dangerous

  87. gmv8 says:

Giroud’s been hopeless – I’d sub him for Walcott

  88. luvdaguns says:

    Coq, great match again!

  89. gmv8 says:

    Haha read my mind…

  90. luvdaguns says:

    whose that? #14?

  91. Justsoccerfan says:

If I am Walcott I will leave arsenal. Sub me when only 5 mins left, what the point.

    1. Charlie Nick says:

He;s got to play well to get into a winning team….if he can’t do that, he can leave

  92. CraigZWE says:

Ref really could of had 2 penalties

  93. Charlie Nick says:

Give up Jack…you ain’t getting a penalty from that ref…

    1. gmv8 says:

Yep – would’ve been a penalty if the same thing had happened in Arsenal’s area.

  94. Dennis says:

Walcott is def leaving this summer, he can’t even get 18 mins in a game we’re comfortably winning??

  95. luvdaguns says:

was concerned going in about a 0-0 draw, got all three pts… beautiful football, too many MOTMs to mention, almost every player did their job well, well done boyz!

  96. Charlie Nick says:

    Perfect… Game of Thrones !

  97. fred cowardly says:

Ozil and Alexis will only be better next season

  98. Dennis says:

    5 mins!!?> what an insult

  99. nomad says:

I’m really surprised with Ozil’s stamina. I think he was our best player tonight. Aslo I think Sanchez has to learn when to quit dribbling and pass the ball and when to feed your teammate and to b less selfish. I think Welcott had a better chance of scoring than him. Wilsher is another story…….the guy never learns……getting stuckin traffic is his speciality…

    Other than that……..perfect game.

    1. Johannesburgunner says:

Sport review gives Ozil a rating of 4 for this game. Blind idiot had no clue what he saw today.

      1. jonestown1 says:

        What? Out of 5?
