Official teams and preview of Spurs v Arsenal

Arsene Wenger has erred on the side of caution and left the Arsenal and Chile star Alexis Sanchez out of his match day squad altogether, despite the former Barca forward declaring himself willing to play – despite the medical advice that it would be a little bit too soon for him.

Danny Welbeck is properly fit again though, and the boss has brought his other summer signing straight back into the starting XI for the Gunners trip to White Hart Lane for the second North London derby of the season. I am a bit surprised to see that it is the England forward Theo Walcott who misses out though, with club record signing Mesut Ozil keeping his place in a wider role and Santi Cazorla continuing to run things in a central attacking midfield position.

That one change is the only one the manager has made, so Bellerin, Monreal, Ospina and Coquelin all get the chance to keep up their excellent recent form. This is likely to provide a stern test of Arsenal´s new found solidity and balance as well as a test of the character of our players in a vociferous and hostile away game, but that brilliant away performance at Man City is fresh in the memory and no one should be anything but confident.

Ospina
Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal
Coquelin
Welbeck, Ramsey, Cazorla, Ozil
Giroud

subs: Szczesny, Gibbs, Gabriel, Flamini, Rosicky, Walcott, Akpom

Go get em you Gunners!!

  1. walcott out welbeck in? no doubt hes coming on second half.

off to shite hart line, have a good one gooners 🙂

    1. i belive its good decision, Welbeck is taller (set pieces) and his workrate is bigger than Theos, but we all know welbeck wont play whole game, which means walcott will have 20 25 min, which means, everyone getting tired, which means ultimate speed !!!

  2. I wonder what the setup is. Ozil on right and Welbeck on left? They have to feature on the flanks otherwise the central ax is going to be weak until Coquelin.
Let’s bring it home boys. Off to the pub. COYG!

  3. Really wondering how both side will approach it, straight attacks or counter attacks, will be interesting though. whoever wins the middle wins the game and i figure that to be arsenal. So an arsenal victory 3-0

  4. today will be the start of a new era of glory of arsenal

    gunner4life

    arsenalllllllllllllll>>>>>>>>>>>spursss shit

  5. Getting nervous now, not helped by the Harry Kane montage just shown on BT sports, cr*p this guys good, Kos/Coquelin get him in your pocket!
Walcott being protected as there wil be a backlash from the 2 finger gesture, he can come on later if needed.
Hope Ozil works hard to track back with Kyle Walker, he’s going to need to.
    COYG!!!

P.S. people saying 4-0, 3-0 to the Arsenal, really!! I hope your right of course but deluded springs to mind. I can see Spurs scoring at least one and I feel it’s going to be a tight game sperated by one goal or even a draw.

  6. Hugo Lloris is saving them every games. he has made more saves than any other keeper this season.
If we score early, we will trash them.

  7. wellbeck was shit on the left for man ure and he`ll be shit on the left for us.
walcott on the f***ing bench my arse!

  8. I disagree with Walcott on the bench, but hope we win regardless. With Sanchez out, don’t we really need Walcott?

I hope Walcott is okay. I hope there isn’t a particular reason why he is on the bench. Again, Welbeck just came back from injury so it is a bit weird.

I really want Walcott to score goals today but will be happy with a win with goals by anyone

I’m sure Wenger knows what he is doing (well I hope)

    My prediction hasn’t changed
    3-0 to us
    COYG

  9. I think Walcott will have the 2-0 gesture and the fact he got injured against Spurs on his mind. I think Wenger’s protecting him from the s*it he’d get from the Spurs fans.
Hopefully we see him 2nd half.

    1. What’s up with Ozil and goals? He isn’t known for goals and now 3 goals in row.

I’m not complaining. I’m glad he is performing better.

  10. We giving ball away too easy and Spurs keeping it well.

When we get it let’s just slow down a bit and get In good spaces to receive it.

  11. not enough composure in the middle need to hold the ball…getting stretched on left side….ramsey is not good enough to start loses ball too much

  12. Welbeck is playing too high up, leaving Bellerin exposed. He gets back, but he has to run, he should be further back to start with.

  13. not enough composure in the middle need to hold the ball…getting stretched on left side….ramsey is not good enough to start loses ball too much and wellbeck has done hi bit but not match fit

  14. We need to get out quicker too much passing around close to our goal mouth. We need Giroud to become our target man and not be afraid to hit it long to him.
God I wish Ox was fit for this game.
Ospina looking good so far 🙂

  15. If we lead 1-0 at half time, Welbeck would gave done his job. Theo will be fresh when Spuds need to push goal. But yeah wish we had Ox to run at em.

  16. Spurs are going to see red this match, especially if it stays 1-0. Can’t blame them for hating us, I wouldn’t want to live in anyone’s shadow.

  17. we look sloppy today, welbeck needs to come off.
    Ramsey poor, Cazorla quiet.
    Spurs pressing us well.

  18. @craigzwe. Spot on.
We just need the half time whistle and re group, too many of our players looking tired and not 100% on it.

  19. Refs have helped us badly, we have been hardly impressive.Spurs are helping us by not scoring. Welbeck and monreal have been the best players

  20. losing the ball all the time … if we go in up at half time we need a change at half time…its not working

  21. This ref now, think we gota see red. Really nothing wrong there. Some speak to this deluded ref fool.

  22. Ospina, Monreal playing very well. Santi and Ramsey not playing well. Need Mozart maybe, or Walcott for some pace to stretch them when we get the ball.

  23. We haven’t really looked like conceding from open play, other than when Spurs have lucky deflections. Something is going wrong in our midfield though, there never seems to be someone open to receive the ball.

  24. Whenever we play Giroud and Welbeck together we look so disorganized. I know Welbeck created but he is not helping Bellerin out and Eriksen with Rose re doubling up on our RB..

    1. Are you watching a different game? Welback has helped Bellarin so much as far as i saw. Cazorla and Ozil need to be more involved.

      1. How many times has Rose had free space. All the chances are coming from Eriksen and Rose side.. Bellerin is being left alone.

      2. Welbeck only helped him in later stage of half. Welbeck is losing possesion and goes into central position too many times, why not stay on the side?

Cazorla hasn’t been good enough today so far.

  25. i dont even know how to explain that first half? feel we got beat in every phase & yet have the lead, though defense played very well, spuds are very motivated to beat us, going to be a nervous second half

  26. Welbeck has been defensively superb. But we need to improve our play with faster and precise passing. Need to involve Cazorla more in the game. He has been absent till now. Though we are leading we have not been the better team honestly and we will get at most a draw this way! Hope to see more of Arsenal in the second half. I want a win and not a draw. A convincing win! COYG!!!

  27. Cazorla, cmon you can kill them with your feets, dont worry guys, this game is ours, they will attack, and when waltott comes in they will suffer, SUFFER!!!

  28. Walcott should go on for Welbeck. I hope Wenger doesn’t do one of infamous 78th min substitutions. Just stick Walcott on at start of 2nd half (Actually Walcott should have started)

Anyway, at least we are ahead with a clean sheet at halftime.

    COYG

  29. Welbeck is not a winger… He created the goal but he is just not helping the team… Ramsey is just doing flick ons and fancy footwork while losing the ball. Cazorla has been so quiet…

  30. good defensive display but HORRIBLE passing. Welbeck loses the ball way too much, and the team can’t seem to get Cazorla involved either. We can’t let spuds have so much posession in the 2nd half.

  31. Monreal has been brilliant but I’m not sure how much more we can take. If we are going to defend, we need to work on quick counter attacking. I feel Rosicky needs to come on and perhaps sub Giroud since he looks injured and push Welbeck up front to run onto through balls.

  32. Giroud carrying a knock, Welbeck unfit, Ozil not energetic. Mert looking shaky, our right side exposed.
1st half we’ve got out of jail 1-0 up.
Lets hope Wenger has a plan to freshen up the second half.
So far they want it much more and have outplayed us.

  33. stop complaining, this is derby, we outplayed untd, but they won, i want only 3 points who have bettet stats in the end doesnt matter, 3 POINTS

    1. not a complaint, but we won’t get the 3 points if we continue to park the bus. We are giving the ball away way too cheaply and letting Spuds counter as well. Its only a matter of time. We need at least a few solid spells of possession so we aren’t under pressure for the whole 90 min. Even in the City game we were better at keeping the ball.

  34. AFC 37% pocession? whens the last time you see that, Spurs gonna come out motivated, need to not get any second yellows, and weather the storm. if 1-0 at 60″ should be our points

  35. We need Cazorla to get more involved… Ramsey might aswell not be on the field losing every ball he gets..

  36. Welback has been thrust in as a winger and he is not a winger. So that is why i think he has done a decent job so far. May be i would like to see Rosicky in place of Ramsey and Walcott in place of Welback.

  37. I think we are caught in two minds whether to attack or sit back and counter. But this being an early start, i expected a bit of shakynes and being more defensive minded. Hopefully we are warmed up now and we can flex our muscles.
