Official teams and preview of West Brom v Arsenal

Arsenal will go into this away game with West Brom on a real high after beating Borussia Dortmund and qualifying for the next round of the Champions League. The manner of the victory could be just as important as well, because it will have proved to the players that Arsenal can defend and keep a clean sheet against a very good side as well as creating chances and scoring goals.

But there have also been a lot of injury worries for Arsene Wenger to deal with and this may have affected the Gunners preparations for this early kick off. There is some good news for the Arsenal squad, though, as Danny Welbeck has recovered from his knee and hamstring problems and is fine to start.

The fit again Olivier Giroud also starts, so it will be interesting to see how Arsenal line up with the two strikers on the pitch, either in a 4-4-2 formation or with the England forward moved out wide. I suspect the latter as young Chamberlain also drops to the bench, as does Nacho Monreal with Laurent Koscielny back alongside Per Mertesacker.

UNfortunately however, our first chopice keeper is not ready to come back into the side so young Martinez keeps his place and will hopefully be as calm and assured as he was on Wednesday night.

Martinez
Chambers, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal
Ramsey, Flamini, Cazorla
Alexis, Giroud, Welbeck

Subs: Macey, Gibbs, Bellerin, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Campbell, Podolski

Arsenal should win this one if we play like we have in the last two games, but with us this season, you never know…

Muff that’s great news. Looks like a 4-4-2 with Giroud and Welbeck (similar to the Swansea game).

      1. KickAssFan says:

        WorldclaSs Giroud.

    2. KickAssFan says:

    1. KickAssFan says:

Man, I’d like to think he’s rested. Besides, it could merely be just to have a different and feasible formation.

      1. Thando says:

@kickassfan dont say i didnt warn you because every interview wenger takes.the man said it belback will play lw once giroud is back,as for gibbs i like to believe that he had a litle injury.wenger doent rotate

Giroud upfront welbeck outwide for the rest of the season now

    1. arsenalman365 says:

Arsene Wenger did say it could be 4-4-2 with Giroud and Welbeck up front.

      1. Dan.M says:

Then do we really want cazorla outwide ?

  4. mobaygunner says:

3-0 to the arsenal….look at wenger rotating player…I think he shoud play 3 in the middle 2 up top and just let Sanchez run around freely…but either I like this line up or maybe in just happy to see a actual bk 4..and yea WENGER JUST ROTATED SOME PLAYERS WTF..lol

  5. Varun says:

Don’t mind Martinez at the posts . Really want szczeny to fight for his place . Though still wondering when rosicky will get his place in the starting line up

  6. SoOpa AeoN says:

and shamboLic mertesacker would be made to look good and start gaining automatic immunity cuz of Kos d boss’s presence.

    1. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Mertewacker must be the happiest guy in the world today

  7. ozy says:

its the first time Giroud, welbeck and sanchez are playing together.

i think they will do a great job together and gonna be so many goals hopefully.

giroud holds the ball, flick it to sanchez, sanchez dribble and put a nice cross to Danny to tap in.

  8. mobaygunner says:

Off topic….anybody saw that vermalen will be out for another 4-6 months after surgery? ?…I loved him when he was here but….I think we finally got 1 over ok n Barcelona…best 15million we’ve ever made…get well soon tho verm

  9. Sumo says:

    4-4-2 –
    Santi–Ramsey–Flamini–Sanchez
    ——-Giroud—-Welbeck

    OR

    4-1-3-2-
    ——–Flamini
    Santi—Ramsey—Sanchez
    —Giroud—-Welbeck

    Which one is it?

    1. Trudeau says:

I’m hoping for 442 with a more conservative Ramsey but expecting 4132.

  10. 61 never again says:

COYG lets bring the 3 points home like the look of this team good luck guys

  11. Thando says:

Come on now people wenger does not rotate! Welback now is a lw for the rest of the season and for ox i feel sorry for the in our last 4 previous games he was on form

  12. Mick The Gooner says:

Monreal over Gibbs? I thought Gibbs’ pace would be best today.

  13. Twig says:

Come on! Let’s spank West Brom really bad 😉

  14. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Wenger put his jacket on. Shit just got real

  15. Mick The Gooner says:

Giroud, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Chambers and Welbeck. We should be a threat from set pieces today.

  16. Hafiz Rahman says:

    Goal!!!!!!

  17. Hafiz Rahman says:

    Giroud!!!!

  18. Sumo says:

Monreal is too nervous a full back for my liking.

  19. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Our first injury of the game

  20. Daedric_Lord says:

wenfer Genius, at 24min monreal who was lightly injured substituted by gibbs, why not starting gibbs?

  21. Bigvalbowski says:

Welbeck couldnt score in West Brom brothel

    1. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Have you seen their women? I doubt he would even try

  22. Robin Vanpayslip says:

    Cazorla cant score

  23. arsenal207 says:

if cazorla want to be a regular CAM, he really should train shooting skill everyday

  24. Bigvalbowski says:

Add Golden Boy Ramsey to that list

  25. fred cowardly says:

We are just an average mid-table team. We need to accept this fact. The days of trying to win the PL and invincibles has been over for a decade.

I would recommend for your mental well being to accept that Arsenal are Average, slightly above average thanks to Sanchez who will figure this concept out too, either next summer or summer after when he forces a transfer. A top talented player wants more than money.

  26. Mick The Gooner says:

We’re a little flat with all this rotation of the front 3. I think we need Ox or Campbell to come on for Welbeck, move Alexis to the left and Giroud in the centre

  27. Ronny331 says:

Defensive shape good but where’s our midfield? For me ox for welbeck or giroud off welbeck up front and ox on.

  28. Bigvalbowski says:

Glad I woke up early here in the states to watch this weekly rendition of Arsenal laying a Premier League egg. The might WBA seems to be unbeatable at home
    (lost last 3)

Im with Cowardly, mid table talent @ best.

    1. luvdaguns says:

I’m on the west coast, 4:45 AM wake up, but hard to stay awake w this football, same story for last 5 yrs, no consistent scorers, Ramsey really lost his way? Santi brilliant on the ball but no shot, cant figure out Welbeck, Ox finally looking dangerous, so he is benched,

  29. GOONSTER says:

Cazorla is so frustrating, he always gets in very good goal scoring positions but his accuracy and shooting always let’s him down, he has got the weakest shot ever. I his first season I thought he would have worked and improved in this but it does not look like happening..

    COME ON ARSENAL.

    1. Mesut O-grillz says:

      he’s playing creator well though

  30. Brada b says:

    #AW iz still #brainless!!!

  31. juhislihis says:

Welbeck and Cazorla have been disappointing with their finishing..

  32. summerbreez says:

I cant find any links for the match ……any one that can direct me to the right link
    thanking you

    1. Mesut O-grillz says:

      what country you from?

  33. mobaygunner says:

We are gonna win guy..chill out and watch the game…remember burnly?..patients people….I see improvement in our team..we’re finally creating chances and look solid at the bk

  34. juhislihis says:

    Ramsey is a shadow..

  35. Big Gun says:

What is wrong with our strikers? HIT THE BLOODY BALL

  36. luvdaguns says:

really miss sagna, speed down the right, crosses, creation, big loss, not sure I see top 4 this year…

  37. Mick The Gooner says:

Sadly, we just don’t look like scoring…

  38. AussieGunner247 says:

    Welbeck is so ****ing useless

  39. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Let’s just make another pass in the box……

    Sort it out Arsene

  40. CraigZWE says:

Ramsey looks good 2nd half, missed 1st half.

    Was his 1st good?

  41. Robin Vanpayslip says:

    Is Cazorla cursed?

    1. Mesut O-grillz says:

yes. but once the spherical object reaches the back of thy net last touched by Santi, that curse shall be broken.

  42. luvdaguns says:

flamani havent done anything stupid yet?

  43. Ljungberg's Cool Red Hair says:

Ramsey look’s like an idiot, HE’S ALWAYS TRYING TO SCORE

  44. luvdaguns says:

    santi creates! beautiful football

  45. Mick The Gooner says:

Haha nice goal, and here’s me saying we should’ve subbed Welbeck for Ox at halftime.

  46. CraigZWE says:

If we draw 0-0, Wenger will look at positives at least our defence didn’t concede si no DM in Jan.

    Scratch that 1-0 COYG

  47. Twig says:

    Cazorlaaaaa!

  48. mobaygunner says:

    Be patient haha

Kos the Boss is the sh*t

    Welcome back Bro.

  50. Ronny331 says:

Nice burst of pace from santi 🙂

  51. AussieGunner247 says:

Giroud is such a pussy, literally if u breath on him, he’ll be on the ground

    1. luvdaguns says:

was no where to be found when carzola made the run to score

  52. luvdaguns says:

i think danny got 3 feet off the ground on that header, fantastic shot and position

  53. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Ramsey just shoots every time he gets the ball. Could be defending on a corner and he still shoots. Reminds me of what I used to do on FIFA 96

    1. CraigZWE says:

@Robin Haha you called it, Ramsey shooting from defensive corner.

      Can you guess lottery numbers

  54. Bigvalbowski says:

Thank the lord that cue ball linesmen doesnt have a F**€£*G clue about what constitutes offside.

General ? Do all Sports referees suck?

    1. Mesut O-grillz says:

      yup. it’s inevitable.

  55. Mesut O-grillz says:

    Noooooooo Gibbs

  56. CraigZWE says:

    Gibbs looking good again.

    Was my MOTM ageing Dortmund.

  57. Mick The Gooner says:

Well it seems Cazorla still can’t shoot, but at least his creative play is looking good.

  58. CraigZWE says:

Oh no. now what. Who do we have left for defensive cover if Gibbs gets injured.

Another reason loaning Le Coq looks stupid. He can ay LB

    1. Robin Vanpayslip says:

He’s Wack. That is why he got loaned. No dumb conspiracy theory behind it.

  59. Hafiz Rahman says:

    Unwelbeck!!!!!

  60. CraigZWE says:

OG trying to beat defender on the turn

Hahaha made my day, he is a funny guy

  61. AussieGunner247 says:

And we wont see a substitution until the 90th minute…

  62. Robin Vanpayslip says:

Getting closer to losing the lead

  63. juhislihis says:

We win every defensive header but there’s no one to receive it.

  64. captinweestain says:

    ohhhhhhh Santi Cazorla

  65. supertuur says:

    1-0 to the Arsenal.
