Bukayo Saka has reacted to Arsenal’s narrow win against Aston Villa and says that, because they have such a strong defence, scoring one goal is usually enough for them to win matches.
Villa made things difficult for Arsenal by staying in the game and defending well, preventing the Gunners from creating many clear opportunities. The hosts showed their resilience throughout the fixture and ensured Arsenal could not find a comfortable route to victory.
Everyone knows how difficult it is to face Villa at home, and the Gunners had to prove they were ready to fight for all three points because nothing would be handed to them easily.
Arsenal have done well to earn the points they deserve over the last few seasons and continue to show that they know how to break down stubborn opponents. Villa are a strong team and can hurt any opponent when given an opportunity, but Arsenal completed the job with a single goal.
Saka praises Arsenal defence
Saka was not surprised by the narrow victory because he believes Arsenal have a defence capable of coping with pressure after they take the lead. Their defensive strength allows the Gunners to protect advantages and manage difficult matches.
He said to Premier League Productions:
“One goal is normally enough for us as we are so solid at the back. When we got the goal it did open up the game more and we could have got the second.
“Arteta did give us credit in the dressing room because we weren’t at our highest level with the ball tonight but without the ball we were incredible. As soon as we lost it we were running back as we know the transition is where they are dangerous. All the boys put in a shift tonight and that helps with the clean sheet.”
Arsenal show defensive strength
Saka’s comments underline how important Arsenal’s defensive organisation was in securing the result. The Gunners understood Villa’s threat in transition and worked hard to prevent the hosts from exploiting spaces when possession was lost.
Although Arsenal were not at their highest level with the ball, their work without possession allowed them to remain in control of the contest. The clean sheet was further evidence of their defensive strength.
The victory also demonstrated that Arsenal can win difficult matches without producing their best attacking performance. Their ability to protect a narrow lead could prove valuable as the season progresses.

It has become abundantly clear selling Martineli was sheer financial reason.
I think the plan changed from selling Nanweri, to sell someone else instead. I think what happened is the more they see Nanweri the more they are surprised how he is developing, and how his ceiling can be.
Another financial angle is, like how although Jesus didn’t go for much fee, his wage came off the budget.

If it continues we can see it as stronger attack than last season, as last season we left so many points out there for want of another goal. Away at Forest springs to mind. Away at Liverpool too.
God our attack is blunt and the club knew since last season but has only strengthened the areas we are strong already, I cant be part of the boring football we played last season this season again.
Our rivals mancity and co are signing attackers more and we have just saka,madueke,tzolis, eze. This is not acceptable, our game against villa shows we are going to struggle against decent and top sides and the club is not doing anything about the attack or does arteta and the club just like flat boring defensive football
That shows the mindset when your attacker is saying that.
