Arsenal suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of Tottenham in the first-ever meeting between the two clubs held outside of England. It was far from the outcome the Gunners had hoped for in what was a highly anticipated encounter.
Tottenham have recently appointed a new manager, with Thomas Frank stepping into the role. He replaces Ange Postecoglou, who had previously guided the club to success in the Europa League. The Lilywhites are preparing for a season in the Champions League and are aiming to make a strong impression on the continental stage.
A Competitive Fixture Ends in Disappointment for Arsenal
Despite facing a Tottenham side in transition, Arsenal entered the fixture in confident form after a promising pre-season. Expectations were high, and although the Gunners largely controlled proceedings, they failed to translate that dominance into a positive result.
It was a competitive match throughout, with both sides showing moments of quality. Arsenal maintained the majority of possession and pressed the opposition effectively. However, Tottenham managed to create the more threatening opportunities and ultimately emerged victorious. Notably, the Lilywhites struck the post on three occasions, underlining their danger on the counter.
Although Arsenal may feel aggrieved by the result, their inability to capitalise on clear chances will be a growing concern as the new season approaches. Their attacking inefficiency was stark, and the team will need to address this issue quickly if they are to challenge for honours.

Shot Conversion Remains a Key Concern for the Gunners
As cited by FotMob, Arsenal registered a total of 16 shots during the match, yet managed just one on target. In contrast, Tottenham had only six attempts, but also recorded one on target, showing greater efficiency in front of goal. These statistics highlight a recurring issue for the Gunners that must be resolved.
There is hope that the arrival of Viktor Gyökeres could provide the clinical edge that Arsenal currently lack. His presence up front may help improve the team’s conversion rate and bring more balance to their attacking play. As it stands, the Gunners will need to sharpen their performance in front of goal if they are to make a meaningful impact this season.

Only a preseason nothing game but still hurts! You can hear the sing now, “Pape Sarr from the halfway line”, every bloody chance they get to sing it.
Sorry posted on wrong thread!
We need to stop messing about and bri g in Eze as soon as possible . He’s a “difference maker” when we get embroiled in this type of tight game.At the same time it’s important to start offloading those players who are having an increasingly lesser effect. If Liverpool were able to get £65m for Diaz we must be able to get at least £50m for Martinelli. His lack of any end product is no longer tenable.I just hope that Mandueke proves to be an upgrade at the very least.Otherwise it’s definitely time to move on Kiwior.Although Califiori’s I jury record is now getting ridiculous. With the emergence of the new batch of Hale Enders it’s also time to move on Vieira,Trossard,Laconga,Zinchenko and Nelson whilst they still have reasonable market value.
Finally evidence that this is NOT an Arsenal fan site. No Arsenal fan would ever refer to Lillywhites. Positively stomach turning.
No mention either of the trip by Richarlison on Skelly which led to the goal.
No mention of truly incompetent biased officials
Good bye . One reader less, down to single figures yet?
“No Arsenal fan would ever refer to Lillywhites”, you mean like you just did😂. Bye bye 👋
“Lighten up Francis” we’ll put those Spuds in their place again this season.
I didn’t watch the match but my confidence in Havertz is O. We can’t keep fielding a player who keeps pulling the team back, while shutting out better players out.
We lost young Obi because of Havertz.
“Arsenal registered a total of 16 shots during the match, yet managed just one on target.”
Hopefully, Gyokeres as a “proper” striker will be able to change that once he’s settled in. You would have thought though, that there was enough across the rest of the team to do a little better than that, albeit only in a friendly.
Although Arsenal were not at their best today, the officiating appeared inconsistent at times. Overall, Spurs looked sharper, more physically prepared, and ready for the challenge.
I really don’t know and I wonder if Haverz does, what will happen with him. He looks blunt in front of goal with no confidence in heading or shooting, he looks like he is (and knows he is) in limbo. Time too improve but with Gyokores coming in as striker and the way Arteta plays his rigid style, I don’t see a role for Haverz. It may change but if he ends up striker again, we are in the doo doo. If he doesn’t, what will happen to our biggest earner?
Now that we have a proven No. 9 we should get rid of Havertz and buy a cheaper striker to compliment Gyokeres. With the savings we could expedite the signing of Eze or even Rodrigo.
I would have thought that the best first step would be to offload the No 9 we already have (Jesus). That almost certainly won’t happen though.
