Ox, Coquelin and Walcott. Who else is surplus in Arsenal squad?

Arsenal have completed the sale of Theo Walcott this week, to go with previous sales of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Francis Coquelin, ridding our squad of players who have failed to live up to their potential, but who else needs to go?

Walcott joined Everton today in a supposed £20-25 Million deal depending on your sources, freeing up funds towards an expected overhaul of our playing squad, following other departures who are yet to be replaced,

Francis Coquelin last week left to join Valencia in a supposed £12 Million deal, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was also sold on deadline day last summer, without any replacement being brought in, and you would have to expect some players to be be added this month.

We also have some other players in our squad who are linked with the exit door, with current contract rebels Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil possible outgoings, but which other players are no longer deemed worthy of a regular run of action in our first-team?

Danny Welbeck is known to be thought highly of by manager Arsene Wenger, although he has had limited action in recent months, and his place in the squad is far from cemented in my opinion, although I don’t expect him to be sold this month at least.

Olivier Giroud is another one who could well find himself sold, especially if reports prove to be true connecting us with a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The player’s arrival however could lead to change in formation to accommodate two strikers, which may increase the need of Giroud however.

Mohamed Elneny is another player who has been overlooked heavily this season, but you would think he will be needed unless more arrivals come in, especially following Le Coq’s departure.

Mathieu Debuchy is one who is not an important player for our side, but could well be thought of as a back-up for various defensive positions, and could well be needed should our injury numbers become a problem once again.

Who else should be offloaded/replaced this month? How many players need to be added to the squad following our recent departures?

  1. ARSENE WENGER, Cech, Mertesacker, Debuchy, Ospina, Mustafi, Bellerin, Ramsey, Wilshere, Ozil, Carzola, Elneny, Giroud, Welbeck, Jenkinson, Campbell, Perez.

    1. Dear Admin, we need the old thumbs up – thumbs down system back. Specifically for immature comments like this one.

      1. No. Maturity means tolerating stupid views and comments. You just don’t engage them if they’re ludicrous.

Don’t bring back the thumbs up/down, please — it fosters the herd mentality, and I for one want to be more than a sheep – trying to get thumbs up by the majority like a pathetic tool.

    1. – Ospina – Welbeck – Iwobi loan – Mert coaching role – Cazorla – Elneny – Campbell – Monreal back to LB/LWB role – Akpom – Debuchy – Perez – Jenkinson – Koscielny PAYP deal –

    2. The only person that needs to go is Arsene Wenger. Trust me, every other thing will take shape if he goes

  2. Problem is that you are not replacing the players you have got rid of. Your club is being run very very badly.

  3. I’ve not visited tho site for some months now. Got pissed with admin for allowing some peoples comments and disallowing some even tho there was no insult or curse words. Anyways, decided to visit here to find out that Walcott has been sold. What a relief. I really wish Wenger would sell Ramsey. Wilshere to me plays and performs way better

          1. Hello Pires, you still into Wenger forever thing? Now I see its Wengers love Ramsey you are into also? Niiice.
Ramsey is headless chicken, scoring sometimes, injured a lot, tech not that great, mind slow,…
and if his not from GB he will be long gone to Stoke or maximum Everton.

            1. Hello Maks, statistically, Ramsey is probably our best player so far. The guy is far more efficient than Wilshere so far. Ramsey switches the ball and his runs into the box is invaluable. Wilshere on the other hand holds the ball better. Hardly lose the ball thereby taking the pressure off the defense but how many clear chances has he even created so far? Look at the way Lacazzete was isolated upfront in our last match? Better put, Ramsey connects more with attack while Wilshere connects more with defense. We need to stop comparing them as they are two different players and the manager should look for a way to play the two together

          2. Ramsey is better defensively? When has he ever defended in a match? Always trying to rival Ozil for the attacking MF position to no avail.. always bimbo get forward, don’t know which matches you watch and see Ramsey defending

      1. Thumbs up is out on loan and thumbs down is injured, the word is when they come back it’s going to be like a new thumbs sighning ?

  4. Let me get this straight, we give man utd a player we badly want to retain in exchange for a player they badly want to let go…. the world has gone crazy. by the way, how on earth was welbeck allowed anywhere near arsenal? I cry each time I see him in the team because HE DOESN’T BELONG IN FOOTBALL.

  5. Cazorla has gone. (injury)
    Mertz is moving into coaching.
    Koz wants to retire (Archilles)
    Debuchy old and expensive.
    Perez on loan at Deportivo.
    Wellbeck 27 and still “developing”
Ozil must go or we lose him for free in the summer.
To save money Wenger wants to replace most
of those leaving from with in the squad.
    Jenkinson to replace Debuchy.
    Chambers to replace Gabriel.
    Mavropanos to replace Mertesacker
    Holding to replace Koscielney.
    Ramsey to replace Coquelin.
Jack + Elneny to replace Cazorla
    Mkhitaryan to replace Ozil.
    Iwobi to replace Walcott
    Niles to replace Chamberlain.
    Nelson to replace Wellbeck.
11 replacements ..all at Wenger prices …..free 🙂
    Buy players to placate fans.
Choose 2 from Abameyang Malcom Pavon Isco.

  6. now they’re gone (or going to be) i’d thank them for their service (while showing ’em the door; and now we can look forward to others (new recruits) coming in and playing with their heart on the sleeve – we hope. imo the current crop have devalued the arsenal shirt – it’s just how i feel –

in fact the ones who’ve been shown the door could easily have been stifling the progress of our young guns – i’m relieved these duds have had the plug pulled on ’em once and for all. arsenal is not the place for mediocrity (imo); i would like also to see more of our young argentine goalie in between the sticks, while czech is relied upon less and less.

  7. You sell Robin to man u and buy welbeck. You give Alexis to thesame team and get a disappearing mikhi, ( 2 players surplus to requirment) man u beating us on and off the pitch, we should be forcing the moves of players like van dyke and keita just like liverpool are doing now.

  8. It’s not who should go it’s who to bring in when they won’t spend the big money on decent players because they always want a bargain

  9. I wonder who is responsible that we sold off some off the deadwood we had for so long? Wenger or rather the new guys on the street?

    1. Really, really good point. I was thinking the exact same. Until last summer, Wenger had barely brought in any funds from player sales for about four years! I think it was less than £50 million, which is nothing in comparison to other clubs. Just a single player can easily go for that!

I get the impression that Wenger was sick and tired of losing his best players, so he almost kept everyone…even the deadwood! I think maybe the board have said to him that this is economic suicide, as you cannot just keep adding, without selling. We already have one of the highest wage bills in world football, despite employing hardly any quality players. Hopefully some of new recruits are being given a little of Wenger’s responsibilities?

What has happened with Ozil, and Sanchez is beyond disgraceful, and even worse when Wenger said the other day he had “no regrets” over the Sanchez situation. Wenger doesn’t seem to understand economics anymore.

  10. Debuchy
    Jenkinson
    Campbell
    El Neny
    Iwobi
    Perez

Welbeck and Ramsey are lower league or Championship level players but Arsene fancies both.

Would love to see the following happen before the
    close of the January window.

    1) Sell Sanchez to Manure or this “mystery” team for $35M and buy Draxler
    2) Offer Giroud and $35M to Dortmund for PA.
    3) Take the $37M from the Theo/Coq and buy Tah from Leverkusen or Manolas from Roma.
    4) Sell Debuchy and So Neny

    Laca…PA
    Draxler…Ozil..
    Xhaka…Wilshere
    Saed….Mustafi…Tah(Manolas)…HB
    Cech

    1. I have a plan.
Lets sell Welbeck and Ramsey to some club… let s say its…Leicester,
maybe Wenger will follow them, leave Arsenal and became Leicester manager just to be reunited with his lovely players!

  11. Wish we could keep Alexis, Oxil, Lacazetter and Aubameyang.

Sell : Wallcot (done), Debuchy, chambers, Per(coach), jenkinson,

  12. I would sack-em all end off, this includes the manager and his supporters. To those who want to tell me to support another team, kindly take your own advice because I will not stop supporting Arsenal. In my opinion Arsenal is bigger than any manager, player, director, and owner, and will out live them all…

  13. I always thought Oxlade, Walcott and Coquelin were fine players to have on the bench. Personally i wished we could have kept them.

Do people really expect us to fill our squad including bench with World Class players?

Our starting including team needs to be completely overhauled

  14. Loan:
    Iwobi and Holding

    Sell:
Welbeck, Perez, Campbell, ElNeny, Akpom, Jenkinson and Giroud (not including Alexis but he is nearly out the door anyway).

Buy Auba and it looks like we will get Mkhi… but at least he and Auba are close mates and might work out well =.=
    Lastly get Koulibaly and Carvalho.
Get Ozil to sign after spending some £££ and showing ambition.

Rest of the spots use youth, promote from within as well. Nelson could benefit from the sale of multiple AM players, if we sell a lot of the fluff then it clears the way a bit for Nelson to get experience and see if he can step up for the EPL as a AM.
AMN would benefit from Coquelin and ElNeny going, only 1 DM coming in and that’ll mean AMN is competition for that spot while also potentially being the future.
Loaning out Holding will give Movrapo…. bahh nearly XD Give the new kid time with the 1st team and Kos can rest more with a top Koulibaly coming in. Gotta give the new kid time to learn the language and adapt to a new culture, might surprise us all but we don’t want to put undue stress on such a potential.

Keep Ospina until we get a new manager then sell him and splash the cash to get a TOP man in between the sticks. Don’t give Wenger chance to ruin him…

Rebuild 99% done. Only Xhaka left… Maybe Wenger is just misusing him so new manager might get more out of him, I’m curious.

  15. if we get Abdumyang he would instantly become deadwood under Wenger. he has discipline issues and after what Wenger did with Iwobi’s party, Abdumyang would feel he can do what he wants after getting his last big contract of his career.

  16. Sell or free the following: Akpom,Campbell,Debuchy,Jenkinson,Koscielny,Mustafi,Ospina,Perez,Xhaka . Retiring ,Carzola (sadly) Mert(not so sadly) Shopping list to include Oblak,Manolas,Maguire,Ntditi,Draxler,
