Ox shows for England why Arsenal MUST use him more

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has featured in all seven Premier League games for Arsenal so far this season, but in four of those games it was coming on as a late substitute. The Ox has only started five games in total this season and I think that we should be using him more.

Last season’s injury problems meant it was a frustrating one for the young Gunner and with all the players we had missing, he would certainly have featured more heavily than his 14 BPL games, so he must be hoping for a much more influential season this time.

The England international has just turned 21 and wants to push on for club and country now and he always seems to have a positive effect on games. His second half showing for England against San Marino last night was just the latest example of this, as his pace and energy transformed the Three Lions and got all the players around him going.

The fact that he also provided two assists and was unlucky not to score just highlights what he can do and sends a clear message to Arsene Wenger that he should be playing much more for Arsenal. Maybe with Mesut Ozil out of action for a while we will start to see the Ox on a more regular basis. I would definitely prefer the youngster on either flank to the German anyway.

Chamberlain is doing his best to make himself a key part of the new England team, but will he get the same chances to do so for Arsenal?

    1. Honestly, why Wenger would not use the right players for the right position at all times is just inexplicable. I think it is settled fact that, for now, the best players to start for us on the flanks are Alexis and the OX (until we have Theo and Gnabry back).

The OX is good enough to be a starter for us.

  1. The way some of you talk it’s as if u expect Arsenal to start a match with 18 players instead of 11.The Ox has been given enough time on the pitch to prove whether he should always be on the team sheet every weekend.Unfortunately he drifts in and out of games and loses the ball to often.
No one should be a sure starter among all those midfielders. They should earn their spot during training and on match day.

  2. Breaking news: Arsenal’s mascot gunnersaurus has been ruled out for 8 months with a broken tail.

    1. Hmm. I don’t see a lot of thumbs ups. People, he told a joke ffs! I know is Friday but please pay attention .

      1. Well I think you are more desperate for attentiom mayte!! But alas all you are getting is thumbs down.

  3. Nah. I’m afraid Ox hasn’t done enough to justify a starting place for me. With Walcott back, I don’t expect him to start very many games.

    1. Twig, are u sure u’ve been watching ARSENAL lately? how can u say OX has not done enough to be a starter for us?

How many goals and assists does the OX have? There’s so much endeavor to his game but little end product at the moment I’m afraid.

        1. Twig, how many times has he started for us? And how many minutes does he play as a substitue? I love your description of his game, “there’s so much ENDEAVOR to his game”. See, I am sure you cant say that about some of the players that start for us.

I’m not judging him on this season alone. Compare his stats with Walcott and see what you’ve got. Don’t tell me the OX was always injured as Walcott too had many injury problems. I can’t remember the OX putting in a string of 4-5 proper games for us, can you?

            1. @Twing, prior to Thoe’s injury, I never call recall any time when he was benched for the Ox. Theo has always been a starter and hardly was he substituted, even when his form was poor. As a matter of fact, there was even a time when players like me was calling for Wenger to bench Theo and play Ox instead. So, I can’t compare the performances of both.

              1. Jeez! @Twig, so much shitty errors in that comment of mine:

                “Can’t recall”

                “Fans like me were calling…”

  4. Some of the comments here are shocking, even when a player had a good game we are still looking for ways to pull him down, imagine what kind of comments he would have received had England lost or had he had a shocker.

Ox is an excellent player to bring on to kill off the game or provide the winner against the tired defenders with his pace, power, and skill on his good day too. He can also start against lower teams or even bench Theo depending on his form / when he needs a breather / or how well he will fit in the team as he has been out for a long long time.

All in all I am happy we have such strong player with good attitude and versitilityy like the Ox, very matured for his age too and provides good competition for most 1st team players.

I wish him continuous improvement and an injury free season!!!

  5. Off Topic:
If roy keane says Veria is “Tough” then you have to take his word for it. We lacked that in our team for a very long time. Now most of our players are soft. We desperately need that aggression, toughness, that “f**k, I need to stay away from him” factor(or player) in the midfield.

  6. Big fan of the OX

He is great to have to cover for Walcott. He should be utilized more.

Speaking of using players, I think we need to consider replacing Podolski and loaning out Campbell. Wenger simply does not want to use them. Campbell needs playing time to improve. Podolski will get at least £10-15 million, which we can use to get someone like Reus or Draxler.

It’s simply useless for both the club and the players to see these 2 rust on the bench.
