The Arsenal captain thinks that Freddie Ljungberg can give the Gunners something special.
The Gabonese attacker scored twice in Ljungberg’s first game in charge of Arsenal and he has since hailed the impact the Swede can make for the team.
Ljungberg was given temporary charge of Arsenal last week after the club fired Unai Emery, and the former Gunner is hoping he can make a difference while in the hot seat.
Aubameyang was speaking after Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against Norwich and admitted that Ljungberg is well respected by the players at the club because of his history with the team and his experience as a former professional player.
“Everybody is respectful of Freddie,” the Arsenal captain said as quoted by Arsenal.com. “He played for Arsenal, he knows as a player how we feel. It’s interesting to have him.
“We had only one session with him, maybe two for those guys who didn’t play on Thursday. We will see this week what is going to happen. For me personally I think it’s good for us. He played for Arsenal and he has this in his heart.
“He can give us something special. He was part of the Invincibles – his career speaks for itself. We will try to follow him and give the best for him.”
There is absolutely no doubt that Freddie is highly respected but that does not mean he will succeed as a manager.
Aubameyang could hardly say anything negative and everything he did say was expected. However, it is still very early days and who knows what the next few games will bring once Freddie gets his vision across to the player.
A good win over Brighton on Thursday would certainly be a major boost for the club and Freddie’s ambition to become the permanent manager.
Who ever is manager should be given the same team as Emery had to work with.
He should not be allowed any new players in January
He should also be given the same orders as Emery.
Top 4 or the sack.
So if Freddie delivers top 4 in May he should keep the job.
If not then he should be sacked.
That’s utter nonsense. If Ljungberg identifies, like most of have, the need for defensive reinforcement in January, solves our leaky defence and as a consequence saves our season and maybe gets us top four or wins a trophy would you maintain he should have to use the same players as Emery? UE brought in Luiz not FL and he is a liability. If Emery lost his job because players be bought haven’t performed then that’s his own fault. Freddie will hopefully find a better option than David Luiz.
Marty, how do we know Emery brought in Luiz? As Head Coach he is paid to select and coach the players from the squad he is provided to win games. The fact Emery failed to do this, led to his dismissal.
I am afraid, we lost way too many points to get top four easily. And Freddie had no preseason to implement his ideas.
