We are building a fans favourite XI based on the current Arsenal formation, and we move onto the three behind the favoured striker now.
Many of you will no doubt opt to field both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, although the former will be in the voting as a striker also. Unfortunately we don’t have two of him, and he will only be given the one place in our fans favourite XI.
The Chilean grabbed the equaliser at the Parc Des Princes on Tuesday night, which earned us a nice draw against PSG, but he has shown inconsistencies in recent terms, but is definitely a shoo-in on his best performances.
The German on the other hand will most likely make 100% of your sides, having been amazingly consistent over the past 18 months or so, and was very close to automatically being given one of the three slots.
Aaron Ramsey, Santi Cazorla and Mohamed Elneny have already been including for central midfield roles, but they can also be fielded further forward, and the former is readily preferred in an advanced role by Arsene Wenger.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was a surprise starter against PSG this week, but has had limited chances this term despite a very impressive pre-season for us. He looks fit, but I’m not certain he is ready to be trusted week-in week-out.
Alex Iwobi on the other hand has shot to prowess in the last nine months, and was even chosen ahead of a number of team-mates to start against Barcelona in our crunch Champions League tie last season. The Nigerian is definitely in with a shout of earning a place in the fans XI, and will no doubt be a regular in Arsenal’s first-team for years to come.
Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck join Alexis in being able to play as a striker, or out wide in this area, and could shake things up here. The latter is currently out injured, but has shown great ability in between injuries, while the Theo has done well this season, despite many fans being well over-critical of his performances in recent years.
Which three would you be happiest to see starting behind the striker?

It’s not just about picking the players to start,
Most importantly there needs to be a game plan and the willingness to be able to adjust or change tactics to suit the situation during the match.
The player’s need to be motivated and encouraged to fight as a team, showing this desire alone would lift the crowd who in return would transform that energy back into the players.
The truth is and the history is there to back it up, No matter who Wenger picks in his starting lineup, if we come up against a team who’s manager has done his homework, we will always tend to struggle against them, clearly because Wenger plays the same way every time.
He picks his lineup and tells the players that he believes in them and for them to go out and play! ?… thats it, nothing more and nothing less.?
Don’t understand very much how the voting works but..
I voted:
Alexis – on the left
Ozil – CAM
Theo – on the right
Theoretically, we have the players to provide us enough balance in deep central midfield to make this setup work.
A) This is a Defensive lineup to face the likes of City, Utd, Barcelona and Munich’s, We will be up against it when we play these kind of teams anyway, so why not try a different strategy against them, Leicester proved that it worked. Defend deep and try and catch our opponents out with the long ball with our fastest attacks getting on the end of it.
It can’t be any worse than the starting lineup that played against PSG.
—————————– Ospina
Bellerin —— Mustafi —- Koscielny —- Monreal
———— Xhaka —— Coquelin ——– Elneny
—————————— Cazorla
——————- Walcott ——- Perez
Subs: Cech, Holding, Gibbs, Sanchez, Ozil, Giroud, Iwobi, Ox.
Ozil tends to go missing during the big games and lately he has been sticking to the simple short side passes and back again. Bring him and Sanchez on in the second half when our opponents tire a little lol.
I like this.
if we play on the counter and i think its a great idea, mertesacker must definitely start, he’s a beast when we play a deep line
YES!
good idea, but we will seriously lack width
I miss Marc Overmars 🙁
Write him a letter ?
I voted
Alexis – Cazorla – Welbeck
Will never happen though.
Cambell!
Which line up would be considered best. The one you use to get points away at European mega clubs. Or the one you’d go with for everyone else. Because it’s two different approaches in my opinion. Maybe pick a best counter attacking team with emphasis on defence. The side that comes out in these polls is gonna be our best attacking side.
Cazorla’s legs have gone and should be bought on with half an hour to go, great impact sub.
