Poll: Would Arsenal fans prefer Alexis sold or go for free next year?

Alexis Sanchez is set to be one of the most talked about players of the summer, with Arsenal yet to tie him down to a new contract. The Chilean has been in astonishing form all season, and has been linked with a number of rival clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, Man City, PSG, Juventus and even Bayern Munich.

Our league campaign has just ended this week, with us missing out on a place in the Champions League for the first time since Arsene Wenger joined the club in 1996, This blow is also likely to fuel the speculatory fire,

FootballFanCast.com recently ran a poll asking ‘Arsenal fans’ whether the club should cash in on Alexis Sanchez this summer, or whether they should take the risk of hanging onto him for next term and risk losing him for free in 12 months time, and they claim the results were in favour of letting him go, despite the chance he could opt to join rivals Chelsea…

I’m of the opinion that we should keep him at all costs, especially keep him away from any of our title/top-four rivals, with his exit guaranteed to send us backwards.

I dispute the poll ran on the above site due to it’s nature as a neutral footballing source, and am expecting contrasting views from Arsenal fans, but it wouldn’t be the first time my intuition with my fellow fans was off.

Should Arsenal cash-in on Sanchez or risk losing him for free next year?

  • Keep him no matter what (42%, 900 Votes)
  • Refuse to sell unless he moves abroad (33%, 707 Votes)
  • Sell him if terms fail (25%, 522 Votes)

Total Voters: 2,129

I can understand if the Chilean wishes to leave, but as a club, we should be refusing to allow such an important player to push for an exit, at least unless a serious replacement can be landed prior to his departure.

  1. I am shocked that he does not want to play for the 5th best club in England! Who does he think he is?

    1. Hahaha exactly. If he wants to leave, let him go. He has served Arsenal well and deserves better than the mediocre that surrounds him. We shouldn’t hold him back from chasing his dreams.
More important, Arsenal need changes in owners, board members, manager, staff and players.

      1. Agreed and in addition to that, if we keep him against his will he will ruin the atmosphere in the squad which will not help anyone. You don’t want deeply unhappy players in your squad.

Also, you might as well try to get 50 million for him and invest it in another player. It is not like we can afford to let him rot at home.

Keeping him against his will would be a poison pill IMO.

  2. I think Arsenal must sell him and all the players who wants to leave. This will secure at least 60 millions pounds and that’s will cover reinforcements of the club. The player is on pic of the curve and now he will go to drop.
Buying Douglas Costa, memphis depay, dembele, marko pjaka, emil fosberg
    are better options than Sanchez
Also buying real striker like Benteke Dzeko
    Changing Coach Diego Simone

  3. Sold,

Bring in Lukaku. Play Welbz/Iwobi and Lukaku up top. Dynamic Strong and Lukaku knows where the goal is, competing for the golden boot in a team that is so defensive and had a poor season is a remarkable result for him. Would be expensive but more than worth it.

Kroenke you K**t sell the club or spend some sodding money, scumbag.

    1. To be fair on Silent Stan he did give Wenger 100 mil to spend last season. Not his fault if Wenger wasted it.WE WANT YOU T0 STAY,WE WANT YOU STAY OH ARSENE WENGER WE WANT YOU TO STAY.

    2. Sorry, MPDwn you face a tough summer with a few reality checks if you believe for 1 second that Lukaku would come to Arsenal.

  4. He has won all there’s is to be win at the club level with barca, so what could be his motivation other than monetary reason for wanting to leave???? I said let him runout his contract while adding some serious quality to the first eleven to end the league title drought. He may opt to change his mind then and if he doesn’t we’ll be in a much better position as champions to land a similiar or even better replacement.

    1. Wait, you seriously think we are winning EPL next year? Even if we keep Sanchez and buy players that’s not happening.

    2. I’d rather we sell him now and get 30 or 40M for a proper replacement than he stays and puts in a rubbish shift on his last year and walks away for nothing. Then we would have lost a player and money for replacement.

    1. Please stop throwing around numbers like they mean nothing! Even Real Madrid and Barcelona are not worth that!

  5. I say keep him at all costs even if he goes for free next year why , because even if we sell him for 100 million dollars the club still wouldn’t invest the money back into the squad

    1. You assume we would get 30 goals Sanchez but we would not. We would get sulking, atmosphere polluting Sanchez training with the reserves poisoning the minds of our youngsters.

  6. Hey, We are all Arsenal fans, where some support the club financially, some more than others, while some of us support the club from our armchairs and some from a far. We all give our players credit when and where it’s due, yet we don’t hold back when their assess need to be chewed.
If a player doesn’t want to hang around then he shouldn’t be forced to stay. At the end of the day, Sanchez was a bench warmer at the time of being sold by Barcelona, it was easy for him to become an instant hit at Arsenal simply because he stood a mile out from the rest of the mediocre ?? and one season wonders that were already at the club. No one even came close to matching his fighting spirit or his desire to win.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s a classy little player but he also has his faults and I doubt that he will shine as much as he did at Arsenal,if he were to go to a bigger club with bigger players (stars).
So It’s only logical to Sell him, especially if he wants out and if a big offer was to comes in for him.

  7. Sell him., of course, think on all those housing projects Kroenke could invest with all that money. Maybe he could give us £2millions to get another asian tiger or lion or bear, whatever.

  8. sell, sell, sell. Bayern might want him for 55mil, which is a fair price for someone who has a year left. We can’t let him go to Chelsea, and have an RVP situation all over again. We already help our rivals out enough by giving them free points every season.

    1. Agree, however it is rumoured man city have tabled a 50 million bid for him…then what ?….take aguero as part of the deal then ?
Buy reus, isco and howedes and we are ready to roll next season !
