Potential Unai Emery replacements – Luis Enrique: The pros and cons

Highly regarded Luis Enrique is a manager most fans would surely welcome to the Emirates.

Luis Enrique has emerged as one of the favourites to become the next Arsenal manager with Unai Emery still under fire. Does the former Barcelona boss have what it takes to lead the Gunners back to the top?

Pros

When it comes to high profile managers who are currently out of job, very few compare to Luis Enrique.

Having started his managerial career as the Catalan’s youth boss, Enrique remains the last manager to win the Champions League for Barcelona in 2015 and should be able to transform the Gunners.

He also showed great man-management skills when he had to manage the egos of Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi to win their last Champions League. That experience would help him bring out the best from the likes of Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil and Nicholas Pepe.

In his last two managerial positions, he has shown that he keeps getting better as a manager, with his win percentage for Barcelona and Spain standing at 76 and 71 per cent respectively.

Cons

In the world of football, managers often thrive in their domestic league while struggling outside familiar territory and that seems to be the case with Enrique.

His stint with Barcelona and Spain were successful, but he struggled when he managed Celta Vigo and AS Roma. The move to the Premier League could see him struggle yet again and that makes him a major risk for any English side taking him on.

The 49-year-old left the Spain job because of personal reasons, the sad death of his nine-year-old daughter and may not be ready yet for a return to football.

Personally, I feel Enrique would be a risk worth taking. He has a good managerial CV and his record has just kept on getting better.

This is the eighth in a series of articles that I will be doing and all words are my own perception and opinion.

  1. Personally I don’t fancy him.
We talk about how Senõr Good Ebening makes use of weird line ups and formations, prepare to see crazy formations under Enrique.
I had Barca fans always questioning and pointing out how they were expecting him to come up with a certaicertaim crazy formation and line up in games.
Plus he was demanding 200million pounds to take our job before Emery got it isn’t it?
That was the report back the, he’d take the job if he was given 200M for transfers.
    Thank you, and No.
    Next please.

OT. Would anyone fancy seeing us go get Cazorla in January after Xhaka phucks off to Milan?
I’d love Cazorla coming in Jan just to steady our broken midfield, though I doubt it’ll work because of his body and the rigorous state of EPL football.
He said he’d love to come back to Arsenal, would love to play at the Emirates again before he retires.
He misses the feeling every day

  2. @Admin so you see him demanding over 200 million in transfer to be a con in this market? L look at what is happening at Liverpool and city how they have invested in their systems and tell me how on earth we are supposed to compete against them

  3. Watching this England game and it sounded like the commentator said one of the Montenegro players was called shutupyoubitch ! hahaha

  4. Any manager having Messi, Suarez and Neymar in his lineup is likely to win the big and none big 2 or 3 domestic titles for his club as well wins the CL too. So, it wasn’t a surprise or a rocket science unraveling when Luis Enrique won the 2 Spanish domestic titles of La Liga and Copa de Ray for FC Barcelona as well won the CL for them in 2015.

Admini Martin, you’ve listed the names of: Aubameyang, Lacazette, Ozil and Pepe who are currently playing for Arsenal as if they are in the class of the former trio and current duo of. Messi, Suarez and the Barca prodigy Neymar. The quartet players at Arsenal whom you’ve listed are a million miles far off from the trio quality Barca used to lineup. The the current duo quality of Messi and Suarez are even far far off from the combine 4 qualities of Auba, Laca, Ozil and Pepe do give for Arsenal this season in the PL that is seeing the club in abject 5th position in the PL table in contrast to the 1st position that Barca are on in La Liga. The 1st position that Messi and Suarez have put Barca on it.

I think Auba, Laca and Ozil are all on their way down in their football. While Pepe is said to be still adapting at the club by Emery. But I wonder for how long will he takes to be adapting. None of the trio Arsenal players of Auba, Laca and Ozil who started in the Arsenal PL away to Leicester could lift the club out of defeat there at Leicester last week. I think the trio are now looking to pass their best for Arsenal in the PL as they have little or no more cutting edge left in them to score regularly for Arsenal to be winning matches in the PL. And the much a claimed Ozil hardly create one good chance in 20 matches for Arsenal to score these days.

200 Million Pounds needed in the next January window to reinforce the Arsenal first squad with new top quality player signing additions to get a top-four table finish this season and also win the ELC for the first time in the history of the club? Yes! Arsenal could raise halve of the £200m transfer kitty to do new player signings next January by offloading Auba, Laca and Ozil in particular for at least a £100m. While Xhaka Sokratis and Mustafi could be targeted for offloading in too January to fetch at least another £100m for the club making it £200m in total to rebuild the first team squad properly for enhanced performance in the PL in the 2nd half of the season.

    1. Haba Samuel, what Messi, Suarez and Neymar have done in Barca in 2015 is not a rocket science. Winning the champions league those not made them do the unusual, after all, they were only managed properly. And, Auba, Laca, Ozil and Pepe could do the same “magic’ if properly managed by a competent manager. Much as I agree with you that Arsenal’s front 4 are not at par with Barca’s 2015 front 3,yet they are among proven world class players available whom not even Barca can deny them starting line-up.
