Is it time for the return of Thierry Henry?
The Arsenal legend has just been appointed the manager of Major League Soccer club Montreal Impact. However, I have no doubts that if he was offered the Arsenal job he would jump ship immediately.
It seemed inconceivable that I would not include the French maestro in a list of potential replacements for Emery. Even if he may not be the ideal choice.
Pros
Henry’s time in management has been short yet storied, he was assistant manager of Belgium for two years under Roberto Martinez, and they achieved some success together.
His stint at Belgium would have helped him learn how to manage big players including the likes of Eden Hazard.
They also played a relentless attacking football and if he brings that to this Arsenal side, the fans would be overly delighted.
He is immensely respected in football and he would be given a significant honeymoon period to get it right.
Cons
Let’s be honest, his first foray into management ended in absolute disaster with AS Monaco. That probably showed that he is not as yet ready for the big time.
Arsenal really does need an experienced proven coach, Henry is nowhere that right now.
The 42-year-old has a massive ego. That is not a criticism it is what made him such a great player. But it may not be an asset when dealing with players with very similar ego’s.
This is the fifteenth in a series of articles that I will be doing and all words are my own perception and opinion.
I reckon all Gunners respect Henry as a legend and most Gooners too. This could give Henry more time and more forgiveness from the fans, if he loses a lot of games in EPL
Suppose Arsenal hire a foreign manager like Enrique or Allegri and he fails like Emery in his first season, I think the Gooners would go straight for his jugular. Gone are the days when a builder like Alex Ferguson got six years before he won EPL
If the Gooners want an instant result, they had better ask for a hack instead. Mourinho would most likely be able to bring a major trophy using his hacks and tricks

No, Gooners is a bastardised version of Gunners and we fans were all Gunners until the word Gooners came about in the recent past.
A lot of players have since said, they are a Gooners, Merson included, even though he’s a not so secret chav…..that’s a Chelsea fan by the way 😜
Utter nonsense. Gooners and Gunners is the same thing whether ex players or fans, provided those ex-players are Arsenal fans and not Chelsea or other teams fans. Merse has always supported Chelsea and that is widely known.

I remember transfer deadline day when Arshavin first appeared after signing at midnight and proclaimed “I’m a Gooner”.
Henry was a fabulous player but he did not impress me as “knowledgeable pundit” and his foray into Management was on a par with a certain Gary Neville.Need I say more.

Henry is a legend, he has passion for arsenal but so does wrighty and merse, it doesn’t make them potentially good managers.
