Premier League rival closes in a player Arsenal has watched

Arsenal has been watching Gremio’s Vanderson, but Brentford could beat them to his signature, according to a new report.

The 20-year-old Brazilian is one of the finest youngsters in his country and several clubs have been monitoring him.

However, Mikel Arteta’s side hasn’t advanced their interest in his signature and he could move to the Bees.

Dennis Abrahao, Gremio vice president said via The Daily Mail: ‘Vanderson, we received a proposal which is being discussed with the club and his agent. We are waiting for them to define the business.’

The report claims Thomas Frank’s side wanted to sign him in the summer, but both clubs couldn’t reach an agreement.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Takehiro Tomiyasu has been in fine form since he moved to Arsenal in the summer, but the club needs a competitor for that right-back spot.

That makes a move for Vanderson sensible, and it would be great to compete with Brentford to sign him.

Because he is not a regular for the senior Brazil national team, getting a work permit might be an issue.

However, we can send him out on loan so he can prepare for life in the Premier League when he finally has a work permit.

  1. We already have Chambers and Soares as back ups to Tomiyasu. Also Tavares can play both LB and RB, so no need for another RB. Focus and Invest on a CF and DM.
